Posted December 5, 2015 Actually i'm digging a long tunnel near my deed and it's really long. That long that i'm to lazy to go back to deed, but the food on the other hand is not lasting very long, after a few days its rotten. So, what about having a sort of food..like salami with a bread that lasts very long and can be carried around in inventory ? Drawback could be that it takes 3x as much as ingredients as normal food takes, and that it nutrition is not very high, say cut in half compared to meals ?
Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Pemmican https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemmican Fish or meat + fruit (ligonberries, cherries etc) + animal fat Longer preparation times as it needs a full day to dry, but you can make batches for road trips and work projects Less nutrional than meals plus does not benefit from heating (hot meals give a bonus) FISH JERKY https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dried_fish Also >PICKLED< salted/smoked meats, see Medieval Food Preservation Keeping food edible for months and even years during the Middle Ages Not really related (maybe it is) but a plug anyway for Lutefisk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutefisk Yum, fish rotted in LYE, who can say no? Posted December 6, 2015 Heck add Tin Lunch Boxes, that decrease the decay on meals AND can carry the dang things in inventory.
Posted December 6, 2015 Not to mention some means of stowing fish (fishing in caves works) in something... a sort of wooden crate-like thing... a container for preserving food... a means of food storage.
Posted December 6, 2015 does food last longer the higher quality it is? I don't think it does does it. Maybe that'd work. +1 anyway
Posted December 8, 2015 Bring a large cart, with a few crates, some pumpkins, some corn, some cooked meat, some kindling and wood scraps, plus food for the horses. Bring a few frying pans. +1 for any form of food storage. Rifts will go in a year, but something will come after them. Perhaps we will be pleasantly surprised. Posted December 8, 2015 Small Magical Chest holds a lot of meals. Just keep it in your locked cart/wagon for meals that last nearly forever. Unfortunately they are very expensive.
Posted December 9, 2015 pemmican and jerky would be great, a bit lower nutrition and higher thirst though at least when I eat it, it makes me thirsty.
Posted December 27, 2015 Yes Pemmican is the one, here is a video, needs dried food and fat..this would give fat another reason to use beside of making candles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQT4cMPrRWY
