It's not on the live server, I trying to get it working on a test server.

i can say that you are changing the default graphics.jar this is not needed, it may also cause additional problems.

I would put all text inside the pack to lowercase and DB too.

Also client needs custommap mod too.

I'll re-install the wurm client and have a try

Wait... Is your map in the root of the jar? That's how it looks from the screenshot (it's in the same place as mappings.txt)...

If that's the case, why are you putting a path? It should be just

map.ereb                = Ereb.png

Re.installed everthing from scratch.

In the server directory I unzipped these:

server-modlauncher-0.20.zip

serverpacks-0.20.zip

Now the mod-directory has the serverpacks.properties file.

I edited this and added the line

serverPacks=ereb.jar

I placed the ereb.jar in the serverpacks sub-dir

I run the "patcher.bat".

I run the "modlauncher.bat"

Unfortunatly, now the map will not start.

I have not run modlauncher.bat. i have used the .exe file that it creates when running patcher.bat.

Running the exe seems to work.

The post says to run the modlauncher...but I guess that will not work.

You are running out of memory. Try changing the bat file, find "-Xmx2048m" in the parameters and make the number bigger. e.g. -Xmx3072m or -Xmx4096m

How big it needs to be depends (mostly) on your map size and creature count.

For the record modlauncher.bat works fine for me, never used the exe.

Bah, I thought it always used the LaunchConfig.ini (which is set to 16384m). Now I see the bat-file has very low set.

Oh, well...using the exe workes. Thanks.

EDIT: Problem appears to be gone for the moment, I deleted the server files re-downloaded both the server and server mod loader files and re-ran patcher. I'm leaving my post intact in the case someone else gets the same problem.

So I decided to go ahead and check things out before the next beta update gets pushed live, I'm having trouble getting the modlauncher to work with 1.1.1.1 It keeps crashing. I think it may have something to do with changes in creature.Communicator preventing the hooks from working correctly I'm not sure nor do I know how to fix it even if that was the case.

This is the same error I get every time

I can't get it to work either. Am I editing the wrong place in the wurmlogin.db ? I went to SERVERS and at the end edited the MAPNAME:

Quote

Still no go - I get the default WO Freedom.png.

What does work is if I go the wurmlogin.db - Change the MAPNAME to Ocrea and then edit the mappings.txt in graphics jar to:

mappings_ocrea.jpg

This workes, nothing else does. (?)

I'm wondering if the wurmlogin.db is where mine is going bad.  Under MAPNAME, is there a certain criteria for how I reference the map?

i.e.  custommapname, or custommapname.png, or custommapname.jar

At this point, mine is only listed as custommapname

MAPNAME should match what's in the mappings file, eg. if it's set to "mapname", your mappings file should look like:

map.mapname                = imagename.png

Love the modloader and all the cool mods you all are developing. I'm hoping someone can help me. The recent update to 1.1.1.1 broke my mod loader for both server and client. I tried a fresh install of the client and dedicated server. I ran the game without the mods and was able to log in to my current state.

Then I added the server modloader as before, and ran patch.bat. Here's the console message:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server>set JAVA=java

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server>if exist runtime\bin\java.exe set JAVA=runtime\bin\java.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server>if exist ..\runtime\bin\java.exe set JAVA=..\runtime\bin\java.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server>runtime\bin\java.exe -classpath patcher.jar;javassist.jar org.gotti.wurmunlimited.patcher.PatchServerJar
Aug 09, 2016 5:41:42 PM org.gotti.wurmunlimited.patcher.PatchServerJar run
INFO: PatchedLauncher does already exist. server.jar is already patched

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

And the WurmServerLauncher-patched.exe file was not created.

Similar problem with the client, except the client-patched.jar file was not created.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Edit:

A bit of progress. The only change I made that I can think of was updating Java. To test this idea, I transferred a Wurm backup to my Win7 laptop, updated the client and dedicated server, installed the loaders and mods, and I'm happy to report I'm back to where I was before the last update.

I'd still like to figure out how to get the modloaders to work on my Win10 desktop. I'm sure the issue is java related since I also can't start the server using modlauncher.bat without a bunch of java errors. If anyone has ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

Update:

I was able to get the server side running by deleting this line from the modlauncher.bat file:

-XX:+OptimizeStringConcat

Now I can run the server through modlauncher.bat. Running the patcher still does not create the WurmServerLauncher-patched.exe, but at least I have the server running.

The client mod loader still does not work. I'll work on a solution for that, but again, if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the guidance.

Thanks.

Thanks for this awesome mod. How do i download it ?

I click the link you offer here and i come to the site but whatever i click there, i dont get a download. and there is no download button also. I see a link there saying "version 0.20" and another one saying "wurmservermodlauncher" but none of these are a download. Below are around 10 links but should i download every one of them ? or only a certain one of those ?

is this a program for experts or may normal people use it also ?

another question is, there is "installation" mentioned on the starting page and "patching". the description of both seem to say i have to do both ? first install and then patch ? Thing is i dont play on a dedicated(single player ?)  server, i play multiplayer. Is this program working also then ?

If possible i and eventually other non-experts would be very happy if you could make things usable, without tricks and luck and expert knowledge. Its 1 year old now, eventually you have the time to make this.

And if im to stupid then i am but im not alone then i guess. I only have it happen in wurm forums that things are so weird and always the opposite of what you expect. I dont understand you people.

Are you running a server or just playing on one?

If you just play on a server and want client side mods - you are in the wrong place. You want this instead.

If you are running a server - you need to download the link that says server-modlauncher-0.20.zip then follow the instructions. You can either patch the server (not recommended) or use the modlauncher.

The other links are for specific mods. Download what you want and unpack into your mods folder.

It requires some minimal computer literacy, not being an expert. If that is too hard you can always play vanilla.

Final Update: I was able to make both modloaders work by editing the patch files. Thanks again, ago, for your great work. I'll be sending a few dollars your way.

I don't want to sound too needy (but im pretty needy :P )

Citadel servers comes with the option to use the modloader but I'm not sure I "get" how to use it correctly now that I've got it installed, only want the spellmod so I deleted the other ones, but I'm not sure how to configure it to use the mod now. It is configured to launch with the modloader already, that much it did automatically.

I'm playing on a server with a custom made map, I know.. who isn't lol.. we're trying to figure out how to get the map image to show ingame instead of the default.   The admin has serverpacks enabled but we haven't a clue how to use it.  Is there a place that has this documented?   A year or so ago when we first tried there was practically zero documentation for this stuff... hoping by now someone can spell it out for me.   Thanks!

That's the curse of a forum. The "documentation" tends to get buried in the threads. I've added a wiki page on Github with the information:

https://github.com/ago1024/WurmServerModLauncher/wiki/Custom-maps
