Will the WU server file work on a Linux hosted server?

Recommended Posts

I know the client will only run on windows, but will the server file work off a hosted linux server? It's not clear in the FAQ.

Thanks!

If you can link to an official quote regarding servers, it'd be appreciated. I'm looking for an answer to this myself.

Warlander posted there about linux, might have to scroll down to see his post.

Technically, Warlander didn't shed any light on this issue. "WU will be available on Linux, hopefully soon after release. :)" doesn't say much. Whenever one of the devs posts about OSes, they never specify whether they are talking about the client or the server.

Albin's post though in that same thread is a welcome exception:

The dedicated linux server is making some good progress so far, so we'll see.

Finally, "Server" and "Linux" in the same sentence in a dev post! Yay! ;)

It was also mentioned in yesterday's news post: "ranging from final bits of work on the Linux dedicated server to final tests of Adventure mode."

I don't see any difference in quality between Warlander's and Albin's post, to be honest...
