We have had alot of changes in the first month of the server and our Community Manager has compiled a list ALL changes.

There will be many more changes to come and encourage everyone to grow with us as we make these changes.

Updates

  • PMK wagons from Chaos/Epic(WO) are now craftable, these include Empire of Mol-Rehan, Black Legion, Jenn Kellon, Rome, Ebonura, and Kingdom of Sol wagons. This is part 2 of the "PMK Decoration Pack" update series.
  • The Activity System should now go by actual playtime (/playtime).
  • Title [Community Road Builder] was added.
  • Fix for bug where you couldn't gain stamina on a horse over 20 slope.
  • Added some new insanity event messages.
  • Added some new insanity illusion names.
  • Bank size was increased from 5 to 8 items.

Updates

  • Adamantine & Glimmersteel vein caps have been fixed.
  • Seryll has a small chance of dropping from mining (works like gems)
  • Fix for grass tile growth checks causing the server to crash
  • Volcano name has been changed to Krakatoa based on poll results.
  • The server will now broadcast area history/volcano events to twitter. You can follow us @OfficialRSol

We are in the process of switching all current modifications to modloader as functionality from the mod loader becomes more available, at this time, some item IDs from old items may/will be changing and we will do our best to make sure this process is as seamless as possible for our great player base.
We have also begun planning for our own API/Mod Loader, more details on this will come later.

Update 12/7/2015

 

Updates

  • PMK Flags will no longer be turned by wind
  • Now running rsServerChecker
  • Security measures updated.
  • Multirope has been addded.

rsServerChecker will help us get the server back up quick for our players in the event any crashes do happen.
Multirope is my way of bringing back the old mooring rope capability of leading more than animal with a single rope. This item ingame is called 'leading rope' and can lead 4 animals with a single rope.

  • Official Wurm Server Update 12/03/2015
  • Tundra Animal spawn rates were doubled
  • Most mods converted to the mod loader
  • 19 New titles have been added based on information from this thread
  • Updated secruity measures
  • Quality of life fix for planning buildings on road tiles.

As many of already are aware, the system we were using for Monthly Silver did not work as intended as premium is different for WU. We are working to remedy this issue and make sure silver is given out fairly and not to be spread amongst alts.

Updates

  • Base Kingdom Tall Banners & Flags have been added and are now craftable. This is part 2 of the "Base Kingdom Decoration Pack" update series, making it complete.
  • CA Help has been enabled for all players and new players by default. You can type /ca in chat if you do not wish to see this window.
  • Death tabs will now trigger properly inside the HoTA.
  • Death tabs will now display blue on blue kills.
  • Server time has been set to winter.
  • Schmois's Surface Mining mod has been added.
  • Crops should no longer grow into weeds.
  • Mailing costs were reduced to 5 copper.
  • Players can use /seasons to see what season is upcoming or currently in season.
  • Players can now harvest while mounted

Developers will be on vacation through the Christmas season and development will resume on 1/1/2016. In-Game events will still be ongoing.

We have accomplished a great deal since the server has been running and want to thank our great playerbase for supporting and growing with us.

We will also be publishing a list of things we plan to tackle in the upcoming year which will be posted after New Years.

Happy New Years Everyone!

As promised, we have compiled a list of upcoming changes/goals and features that we plan to implement this year.

PVP Server Announcement
We are proud to announce that we will be launching a new PVP server. The server will have all the same features as the PVE server such as skill timers, skill gain ramping, and all other additions from the PVE Server.
At this point, we can provide some specifics on the PVP Server:

  • PMKs Allowed.
  • Traders Allowed.
  • Sailable from the PVE Server
  • 4096x4096 Map Size
  • HoTA Enabled
  • 50k - 100k Creature count.

 

On the PVP server, there will be little to no GM interference.
Sometime after the new year, We will be having a whitelist period for testing server hardware, everyone will be invited. More details will come after the New Years.

Upcoming Features
Priest Restrictions
A long awaited topic and we have decided to bring back the old Champion system, this keeps things balanced as this change effects both PVE and PVP servers, as players will also be able to become a champion on Freedom Isles. However, there will be certain things put into place to keep players from being a champion forever on unused accounts. For those of you who do not know what the old champion system is, check this post for a explanation.

Baphomet Rework
Baphomet will get a full rework and become an actual god due to the way WO/WU handles player gods. All restrictions and spells will completely change. This will mostly likely happen once we implement our solution to Priest Restrictions.

Dungeon Zones on PVP
These zones will be essential to forging your kingdom from the ground. Players can hold these zones for as long a possible but no one said it would be an easy task, everything from mobs, terraforming events, and randomly generated building structures that players will be required to raid in order to get certain resources or get to certain areas inside the zone. It will work in similar to the HoTA which operates on a timer.

Client Graphics Rollout
We will be rolling out our own client graphics as soon as possible, giving players some new banners, wagons and flags to decorate with, as well as some new creature types.

Crop System Rework & New Crop Types
As of update 12/21/2015, crops were set to never turn into weeds. This is highly exploitable and can enable players to create stables that never have the need to replant crops ever again. We want to rework the system to have extra stages instead, keeping the current crop timer but allowing the player more time to harvest with extra stages which will also come into use for new crop types.
We also plan to add more crop types such as woad, blueberries, hops, sage, parsley, and much more.

Brewery
We want to extend upon the beverage skill and give players the ability to create spirits, brews and different types of wines. These new beverages would give certain advantages similar to the existing perks from current wines but also will give some newer ones such as temporary perks to crafting or fighting. Brewery Licenses would be sold at the trader to allow players to name and mass produce their brews as well as licenses that would allow the automation of producing these brews and spirits. Of course, bad batches of spirits and brews would give certain disadvantages.

Playtime Rewards
Originally suggested by Ravenoffaith, players could use a command in game that would give them items based on their playtime. Players could receive a mallet with CoC or WoA based on their play time. Items received from this system would increase in value as players have more playtime.

Book Making
Papyrusmaking in it's current state is all but useless. We want to add the ability to combine papyrus sheets so players can create books. Players could write books for in game guides or even small stories that could be sold and distributed, if the player wishes to do so.  

Buyable Vanity Pets
Orginally suggested by Kilikina, players would be able to buy Adoption Cards from a trader which could spawn a named pet of their choosing, which can range from dogs, wildcats or even dragons! These pets would serve as nothing more than vanity and have no fight skill of their normal counter parts. 

Other Notable Upcoming Features
Level to Slope - Allowing the player to level to a 15 slope or 20 slope
Affinity Cards - Allowing players to trade affinities without the need to be killed.
IRCBot - Hooking directly into the server, allowing users to fetch information from IRC.

Animal Feeders
Automation Machines
Fix for Altar Of Three on PVE

A number of WU servers have taken this "no-turn-into-weeds" approach, which got me to thinking if there were any negatives to it. I see nothing remotely "exploitable" about this but rather it being a feature of convenience wherein after crops reach the ripe stage they don't need any further tending. Yea, horses can then graze on them for an indefinite period of time. Big deal. This can then serve that purpose.

 

If players want to raise their farming skill or need crops for various uses they will then have to either tend or harvest them and grow more. Really, I think you need to rethink this "exploitable" idea and not try to conform to the tedious WO restrictions. Old habits ingrained into the mindset from years spent within WO die hard I realize, yet this is your server and you can do as you wish but I just don't agree with your thinking on this aspect.

 

You are taking some other innovative approaches here but this is a step in the opposite direction. May your server prosper in the year to come with those ideals.

We plan bring back an alternative source, either by means of extending upon enchanted grass or actual stable structures, more to come on this topic as information and details come available.
