Why can kings still not change their titles?

 

Will this be addressed before release?

so going of what you just said the same could be applied to map generation? if we get map gen tools ourselves(example terragen) and find a way to modify the java parameters to create a new map and then write a tool to do that and the tool works would such a tool be then used to give map generation support to WU? if so that might be an interesting thing to leave up to people who play WU and plan on modding it considering community made map generators often give more options then original dev made ones

Is it possible to offer a bundle deal? For the point of getting more keys so you can introduce Wurm online thru Wurm Ultimate. It would also give a point for the new players so they can start playing together with their friends.

Pretty sure we will provide that. Those things and pricing are sorted out with Plug In Digital since they also put us on other market places and coordinate sales.

have you given any thought on how to keep the steam version going long term will there be downloadable content added in later that we buy to make upgrades? Will the new version be supported after the initial release for example as you put more content into WO will WU also get this same new content? 

 

That would be the golden road, in my opinion. You get the new patches in Wurm Online with your subscription but they are bought DLCs in Unlimited.

For the private servers, when hosting an online one, is there a way to have a settings option for the server? Like anything from starting skills when you log in to experience rates, Number of guards a deed can have, and decay rates to list a few. pretty much everything so a person can fully modify the server if they want to have it online.

 

EDIT: Also will there be a way to set up max ql for structures and ores?

Yes there are such options. We may include some or all of these as well at release but we will add more over time.

Fair enough - and thank you for elaborating.  Hopefully some talented developer(s) from our community will come up with a map generator.

Looks like challenge? :) Who knows, if I will find some spare time...

(I just hope map format will be released, reverse engineering is fun but takes time and effort)

2 Years and well over 200+ people voting asking for simple changes like this....

 

So often simple little changes, fixes and suggestions like this get ignored and yet HUGE things like todays update get thrown in without anyone in the community knowing its coming at all >.<

There's always that risk but we have dealt with exploits as they arise since the beginning. Client modification is still not allowed. This process has been ongoing since first release date. So I'm not very worried.

Some people will migrate to the private servers of course. Some people will return for various reasons. New people will hopefully come - people who haven't discovered the game or tried it and quit for whatever reason. The idea is that these people can explore the game in a more relaxed fashion. We can only guess what the net amount is but chances are very good that it is positive. What we do know is that we lose a lot of newbies. We have 5000 premium customers left today from several hundred thousand who have tried the game and quit after a few minutes for various reasons. And several million who have never heard about Wurm and never will unless we do something like this. Releasing only the client on Steam would be "just another MMO client people don't care about". This is actually offering something to people.

Will you advertise and push World Online as LiF are pushing their 1 persistance server behind the Lobbi servers?

Having a dumbed down version of wurm for new players/casual players that have the chance to find Wurm Online could be a good thing, but maybe some type of In-game notification could be made to make them even aware of it? As well as advertisement whilst it's on steam.

2048x2048 for both Creative and Adventure mode atm

 

I'd personally argue for double that if it wasn't a serious technical limitation, what with there not being any additional maps for variety and players buying into this wanting to explore every nook and cranny.

Considering the new size of Elevation on Epic Cluster what are your plans with home servers and insuring population levels aren't too thinned out on a 16 x 16 server. 

Is Wurm Online still a main focus for devs?

Still waiting to hear how he's going to integrate advertising wurm online. It would have been smarter just to make it "wurm offline" for 30-60 bucks and keep wurm online.


 


Edit: And pricing, if this is a $60 game or a $20 game. Can make a big difference. I'd be happy seeing it as $60 considering it's a one-time payment to all the content.

"A private server is still something else than an online hosted version. We aim to keep your creations for decades while your private server may go away overnight as well." Also, the public servers may or may not have more players and permanent community. We will see!

 

We have no resources for releasing Linux/OSX versions on Steam right now but we want to. It depends on the interest for the Windows version.

When you say it depends on "interest for the Windows version", you mean the windows version must sell before you'd consider doing the linux version?

a ) do I need to buy them seperately? (that would be unlike other Steam games)

b ) doing windows first and using that as the yard stick to judge if Linux is worth while doing... does not grok

How much dev time will this take away from the real game, Wurm Online?
