This is an intriguing, qurky little game recently updated at IndieDB: http://www.indiedb.com/games/vantage-prehistoric-simulation-game

Currently it is in a free beta stage, and it is very rough and unpolished yet. It has a single developer who is primarily a coder and made the engine and modding tools himself, but is weak in the areas of 3D artwork and UI design ^_^ I popped into the game for a short bit but for now the UI layout was a little chaotic, I do not have very good "focusing" attention skills and I could not stay focused long enough to make much progress (as much my fault as the games). Still, it might be very intriguing experience for someone looking for a "early alpha wurm style survival game" who is willing to deal with a very rough beginning, and likes the idea of supporting an indie developer in the early phases of his work.

Apparently, if your character dies it stays dead BUT the experience you develop allows you to "purchase" on a new character, some additional skills, starting supplies and helpful items to make the next run a little easier. So in essence you do not lose all progress but can get a little further ahead each time.  It bills itself as a multiplayer game but I think it might be possible to run a "singleplayer server" on your computer to avoid other peopl,e if you so desire.

There are skills like carpentry, farming, combat etc.

I wish I had a younger attention span but I am getting old =/  maybe someone else can take a look and report back whether they think the game has much potential.

Not played the game but from the video the UI looks awful, but all in all impressive work by a single coder and much much better than I could ever code :)
