What does your server mean to you?

Xana is far too mountainous.

Cant go exploring on horseback. Always quickly run into steep areas.

for me Independence digged itself literally into my heart.

It was the only PVE server in existance that could be started on when I started wurm and besides all the amazing cities/villages I had seen, huge amount of promising projects and some lost dreams on the way, I can say that indie always was appearing to me as the one "nostalgic" server, the one that has the strongest and oldest community and which seems to draw future generations of long time players. I've met alot of people, despite me being more of a hermit type and I liked to build at challenging places :) I started out on a cliff side, because I refused to go into those overcrowded "easy" spots and I loved it.

but after many years and me starting to go a little insane with a wayyyy over the top ambitious Highway project, I gave my old deed to a friend to take care of it and then moved over to first live on my own project and then live with my husband :)

I had spend some time on chaos too and I loved its vast landscapes and that everything seemed so wild, since in alot of places people didnt dare tos ettle on their own, so civilization is big where it starts but almost non existant away from capitals. Which also meant alot less infrastructure in general :)

Serenity meant tons of awesome people at the homefront and occasionaly abunch of terd-weeds would come and ruin it for a bit, then we'd go back to being better than gary. lel

I have to agree with this, share these sentiments exactly.

This thread just became a lot more emotional though, with other things happening now and so... We must help get new players in on indy before all these gamekilling mods are made that will paralyse them to ever want to come back to RW (real wurm).

indy forever!

Yes! I'm going to "bump" a 3 1/2 year old post. I hope you don't mind Keenan.

I found this to be an interesting collection of player's perspectives.

The saying goes that "hindsight give us 20/20 vision" (or something similar)...

A recurring theme back then was that people were searching for untouched territory on which to make their mark.

I too had that desire, so off I went.

I intentionally chose the newest server, Xanadu, which also happened to be the largest, after completing my tutorial lessons.

After dying numerous times in various ways during my first week and resurrecting in several of the spawn towns, including Greymead, I noticed a pattern.

The coastal areas seemed crowded in comparison and therefore, I ultimately chose the Greymead area.

After several months learning things from a veteran player, I chose to venture off to find my own untouched area.

I found what I thought was a relatively untouched spot and proceeded to create a deed the hard way.

I've succeeded now but discovered the truth after playing now for 1 1/2 years.

There really is no untouched space!

That being said, my definition of relatively untouched would be walking (not riding anything), for at least 10 RL minutes (preferably 20) in most directions and not finding evidence that someone has been there already and done something to the landscape in some way.

I would LOVE to see a new server/island/continent open up.

That New Server would mean to me, "I finally have a real challenge of taming the wild!

That's what "my server" would mean to me!!!

Nice old posts you brought back. I don't think in servers when I think about places I like in Wurm, I think about areas of different servers I used to virtually exist. There are areas at very north and very south Xanadu, North Independence, West Release and my Island on Pristine and the area around it, who I feel like I really was there, I have memories there. But more than that I met people in Wurm who overwhelmed me with kindness and helpfulness, which I will remember always when I think about Wurm as a game. I think most people grow a little attachment or sentimentality when they had a deed in one area and they come back after some time and see this place again. That happens with me and I tend to travel back to all the places I once settled (which were a lot) sometimes. Sometimes it's sad to see an area that was once full of deeds now as flat paved empty areas with some leftover bulk containers.

Update: I play on all freedom servers which includes chaos. Indy is still my home.

Deliverance to me is my home. I grew up there as a young Wurmling and only briefly lived in other places such as Indy and Xanadu. I remember when I moved just down the road from autumn twilight and had a short camp, I remember living in Calmtown, I remember when I first stumbled into MBS ran by Brandon and Vindekator (now known as Morhedron). Needless to say my life on Deliverance will never end as I always find myself finding new places and reading about the history of different areas. Pax.

I began ages ago on Deliverance and i enjoyed my little bit there. Over time i moved to other servers like Exodus and later Xanadu cause of friends. After which i became a nomad and wondered around a lot talked a lot to random locals and all. Gave me some perspective in a lot of places. As such every server has there own thing in my eyes but Deliverance is and will be my home.

Desertion. Played there most of my wurm time. Met great people and helpful from all around the globe. My best memories are there. Contrary to its name it was a very lively server with one alliance, that is still standing today, although with obviously less players.  Everyone was helpful and there was this general attitude to help allies without asking for anything in return. From armor, to horses, weps, people were playing nicely towards each other. It was a sort of socialist microcosm utopia. At one point I think we had about 10 different excel sheets with info for players, from map resources, to players posting what skills/items/horses they can offer to allies to help em out.

The map was perfectly varied. It had two large steppes, amazing hunting grounds they were. 90% of players got their weapon skills there. Hundreds of horses and sheep to slaughter. Deserts, mountains, lakes, it had the perfect balance for me and easy to traverse. Also we have a lot of polish players and the poles always did crazy projects.

Good people. I miss them all.
