Why the gems is used only for priest?

Recommended Posts

i have an idea

i think:

If Tools and Weapon have a Socket for insert a gem?

I mean if at QL70 a weapon gain a socket and in this a player can use a gems like

Emerald for critical hit

Ruby for strogest attack

Diamond for Skill gain

etc...

my think is make usefull gems for non priest player

so if i have a weapon ql 70 i can insert in this a gems for make more pawerfull or in a tool for make it much faster or more usefull for skill gain etc...

Not a bad idea actually.

But i think the gem should be filled with power before inserted.

The more power it holds the more effect it gives.

No one would ever use them for a priest again if that was the deal unless there were bad gems somehow like maybe low ql ones are not any good or you can only cast on them once to fill them up...something

no the gems have his own enchant and if is full of favor you can socket it in a tool or a weapon

and low ql have low enchant

remember is only a socket you cant replace the gem or improve or replace that

is only a way to make usefull gems for non priest

This sounds a bit too much like replacing enchanting in an already shrinking market.

Possibility to use gems in different ways? +1

I would love to see some end-game decorational items created with use of gems as well. :)

There should have been uses for gems years ago....

Would be nice; though, any bonuses from gems should require them being enchanted in some manner. Perhaps even serve as item enchant batteries of sorts.

...

I've long thought it should be possible to fill gems with karma as well.

So when your alliance mate died and would want a summon corpse but doesn't have the karma a player with enough karma to spare could fill a gem with the 3k karma required and then trade the gem. Of course, Wurm being Wurm, filled gems would soon be traded and sold on merchants as well.

WoW has this socket type of system. It could work well for Wurm too, if only priests were able to enchant these gems, rather than the item itself. Then they could sell the gems and players could equip their items with their choice. Items could still be enchanted in the normal way and have a gem slot or two for optional enchanted gems to be inserted.

Once inserted they should not be able to be taken out again and reused on another item, otherwise it would reduce the need for these enchanted gems. Just enable a new enchanted gem to be inserted over them in their place if a different enchant was desired.

Ayes idea would probably result in more sales for both weaponsmiths and priests as well since you would not need a highly skilled WS, a highly skilled priest, and at least one battery to make an enchanted tool or weapon.

You could buy a weapon/tool from one merchant and the enchant from another without having to mail or travel all over the server for it.

Uhhhh, diamond edge swords!!!

More expensive to manufacture, almost no damage taken in use

I've never been a fan of how religio-centric Wurm has become and how there is simply no alternative to priest enchants available.

+1.  Why shouldn't gems have some uses for the rest of us non-priests?

Actually re-thought this if priests could pre-enchant the gems.  That would not be so bad, it would likely make high channeling skill priests a great deal rarer (for gem prices would skyrocket) but it would also allow us to sell our magic more easily.

+1 iff priestly magic is interwoven into this in a major way

+1 for gem use that isn't for priests. The rest of us would like a use for them. On the go refresh at minimum, spiffing up weapons/gear etc. There's a myriad of potential uses.

This would be great. Then you don't have to be without the weapon while you're waiting for enchants, and don't have to worry about priests you don't know well.
