Posted July 4, 2015 Create clay without magichttp://www.practicalprimitive.com/skillofthemonth/processingclay.html I think this opens up more possibilities for settling inland, away from any lakes or oceans. True, we can always hop in a cart, travel a few minutes to the water, dig up a few crates of clay and return home, but this would be fun, making it ourselves. Pottery skill used for this. Higher skill = higher QL clay. Also, high QL dirt would help. Maybe even make the initial QL of dirt the max QL of your resulting clay.
Posted July 4, 2015 all you get from mixing dirt and water is mud. this is definitely no ordinary dirt he has there. it must have some sort of clayish components in it. for your idea i would say add lye to the recipe

He's not creating clay there though, just separating clay from mud. Clay still needs to be present, you can't just grab a handful of dirt and get clay. I guess you could make it so there's a chance of finding clay if you dig deep enough below the top soil, perhaps anaylzing dirt piles to find clay the same way you do with rock shards to find other minerals. Maybe a new tile, 'Hard Dirt'? Dig up "Hard Dirt" slabs or something and then process into clay? Edited July 4, 2015 by Zundy
Posted July 4, 2015 Clay shouldn't be too easy to get from other sources than the natural clay sources, as that would make the regionality of such resources completely pointless. Why pick a spot which has clay (tiles you can't use for anything else) over a spot which doesn't have clay if you can just as easily make any clay you need. Posted July 4, 2015 If anything, Wurm needs more 'survival' aspects including regional resources, not less of it.Right now, it isn't much of a survival game, as it is advertised as, beyond your first few days.
Posted July 4, 2015 well, if the process is long and time consuming, much like concrete, then water line clay is still the best resource. This just adds a way to get it in difficult to reach areas.
Posted July 4, 2015 Here's another instruction: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Clay-from-Indigenous-SoilIt should require at least some sort of sieve and a container, in my opinion.
Posted July 4, 2015 If it will be at least 2-3 times slower to get clay from sources other than natural... Why not?
