what anti virus / firewall do you have? I know AVG & Kaspersky sometimes have issues

Make sure nothing is running while you are patching.  Is this from a work of school computer?

You might have to delete the old graphics.jar files plus any TEMP/BAK versions

While you are downloading,  switch to the PACK UPDATES page and see if there is any red text

You could try manually downloading the graphics & sound packs

graphucs JAR

sound JAR

I use Windows Defender which automatically comes with windows 8, this is also a sort of private pc that I mostly use. The title of this thread is actually what i found on the bottom of the pack updates page. The update always stops at META-INF/MANIFEST.MF     .I never get further than a second into updates while this happens :/

Go to Pack Updates page and uncheck the OPTIONAL graphics pack for now, till they get it fixed

(I don;t know what causes it, only that is what fixed the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF  issue in the past, at least enough to get into the game)

Sorry, that this is as late as it is but i have the exact same thing still on my bar, the graphics update ticked, or not, it does nothing at all and this has been going on since i have written here pretty much every day

  1. does yours still say the words "META-INF/MANIFEST.MF "

can we get the most recent copy of the HS_ERR_PID file (if it is not in the wurm folder and not on the desktop, try going to windows START>SEARCH and paste that in, but we want one if possible that is very recent.

Also if you ever edited your HOST file to get past the patcher, you need to remove any reference to the wurm update server and let it try to patch without any coaching from HOST (if you have NO IDEA what I am talking about, then ignore that part)

Is it still sporadic -- sometimes you get the error and sometimes not? Or is it consistent, every single time, and you have not been able to log in since June ?

1. Yes. it is exactly the same.

2. What do you mean by that? i don't have anything like that at all.

3. :/ pretty sure i didn't edit that.

4. It's pretty much consistent, when there's an update, there's an error, exactly the same "META-INF/MANIFEST.MF " standing in red when i wanna update.

I've been able to play since june cus i went on holidays where a PC was available, it was windows 7, pretty much a build from 2006 at least and with the newest java and it just ran perfectly fine (except for the lag you would expect while playing on something that has been sitting there for at least 8 years)

*Update*

Seems a re-install did the trick, but honestly, this has never worked before and the problem has been stuck with me for months,I just don't get this inconsistency. For months it is inaccessible through any means, but in about 2 of around 10 cases the re-install fixed it, I am sorry for being perhaps immature about this.

Computers can be incredibly frustrating. I am glad it is working now at least. I hope the reinstall fixed something.
