Bump, by the way it seems that the problem is at the wurm server side, because i can open wurm gamepedia with proxy, whereas without one it doesnt load

Where are you connecting from?  The game's server seems to periodically have issues with certain geographic locations and/or ISPs,  sometimes if you just keep trying it eventually takes a route that works.  I would find the "complaint" threads that is floating around here and keep it bumped so the devs are motivated to solve the issue.

There is also a post from Rolf asking for traceroute reports, I will try to find that link.

Patch servers seem having trouble atm.

Anyway try again (after a few seconds or a minute) with Pack Update -> Retry Pack Update.

That worked for me.

Anoter solution can be uncheck and check again the Graphics package.

Note: Restart client will not help with that issue.

I had same problem, think it's dns issue

java.net.UnknownHostException: updates.wurmonline.com

I asked ally to resolve updates.wurmonline.com and placed it in hosts table. Worked  for me and i'll remove local entry in few days.

Could you explain step by step? Adding updates.wurmonline.com to hosts file in system32/drivers location doesnt seem to be doing anything, or am i misunderstanding something

Sometimes some ISPs take a long time to update a change in DNS. Perhaps this is why a proxy connected to wiki.

Not sure it will help but one other thing to try:

https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+To+Clear+Your+DNS+Cache

** edit, resolving it may mean using the numerical IP address instead of the "name"

It might mean this site helps:

http://tracert.com/resolver

Resolution of updates.wurmonline.com is 185.59.221.13

updates.wurmonline.com does not have IPv6 address."

How to edit a HOSTS file

*** warning:  --  I do not know much about networking or HOST files so take anything I post with a grain of salt. It sounds like you already understand these issues better than me.

adding  "185.59.221.13 updates.wurmonline.com" to the hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc seems to have done the trick

yay  \o/

As Bramsky suggests, you may want to remove that section after 72hours or so, to avoid problems if the IP gets reassigned again sometime down the line  it

Maybe you could figure out how to do the same thing with wurmpedia website , because it doesnt load for me as well?

well one person noted the difference between http://www.wurmpedia.com and http://wurmpedia.com -- this has affected ME in the past, where I had to cut out the "www" to get in. (I think what I eneded doing was to BOOKMARK a certain index listing page for wurmpedia but I cannot recall now the specific page I bookmarked.)

The two names resolve to different IP addresses:

Resolution of wurmpedia.com is 78.46.5.98

Resolution of www.wurmpedia.com is 185.59.221.13

maybe add both to HOSTS to be safe. I dunno.
