Xanadu Impalong

Recommended Posts

Arrived a few hours ago - looking at the list at the top looks as if a mix of Weapon (43), Chain Armour (61) and Black smithing (63) might be of more help than Carp where there appear to be plenty people - if only in getting any low ql items up to a level for the few higher skilled smiths to finish them off.

I need to grind out armor smithing so while you can expect to see me I'm not sure how much help I'll be. I'll bring some of my own iron and attend just since I've never been to an impalong. I have a dream of making 50ql bronze armor some day so metallurgy is also on my list. I'll be coming sometime later today and handing out free chain boots :P

My alts arrived a short time ago.  I sent them early to help along with the the donated mats promised minus 58 70ql steel, which i will bring over on my main later or I also brought a lot more 70ql+ iron than promised if someone can make the 70ql steel faster.

While I am thinking of it, it looks like we have several.ropemakers (yay!). I just bought a pretty good supply for grinding ropemaking. Do I need to bring some up? I can grab a couple thousand if it is needed.

I have like 11 nettraps in my ship, which are significantly better for grinding if you want a couple.  I am still hoping someone will tell me how to damage net traps so I can reuse; they do not appear to take damage even after a month off deed, and casting mend 15+ times on something that you have to fail to imp to even get the damage is too much work.

I appreciate that :)

I seem to remember someone talking about using a catapult to damage them.

I gave close to 1k wemp that I have been farming. Dont know how much one person might be able to get out of that wemp. But we do have someone doing the ropes. They have not showed up yet but I am hoping they do soon. However if you would like to pitching in about another 1k wemp that would be wonderful Kyla

Fire up the forges, I'm on my way!

I have 90+ ropemaking with a 90+ rare ropetool if we need some cordage for the priests, too.

I generally create 40-50 copies of an object.  With 6 action queues, I can usually use the same imping tool twice, maybe three times.  It's easier than switching multiple times per a queue!  If you can't queue that many objects, then you can use fewer items for the same result.

Failing that, I think you can burn them in a forge like rugs, right? To reduce QL....I think.

Day before the first day. Some of us might get engulfed by killer BSBs meanwhile...

I don't think they can fit forge or any other furnace to be burned

I wanted to come but I don't have a means to travel to the location. That and there are a lot of mobs that can easily kill me on the way.

Where are you located guy? Are you coastal?

If you give your location someone might be able to give you a lift... or an escort! hehehe

Speed don't matter just for cart for a work station.

I borrowed wild horses from around for the moment. I think I've seen also unused carts, or we can find a solution once you make it. You sure you need a cart though? Work stations are in the buildings.

If I recall, there is a horse seller across the water to the west not too far away. I was thinking of checking over there tonight if I had time.

I brought an extra cart but had the same thing, didn't want to risk horses all the way here.

They needed cordage, but needed wemp for cordage.

I have not triad a catapult yet or a suggestion to damage with Mag spell, but forges do not work or i would have long since done that :)

And yes i have 30 something net traps too, i happened to have 11 in my ship, and was offering a couple.  6 actions is all well and good if you have the stam, but the best way i have found (did 40-41 with my nettraps at Impalong in 30 minutes with my alt) is careful use of climb+SB+high coc rope tool, still getting ~.02 ticks at 41 iirc.  Just takes more attention than anything else i can think of.

To each their own.  I don't think 30 minutes of sleep bonus is all that out there for gaining a single skill point at that point, but that was just about 6 months ago.  I did go from 42 to 51 over (I assume) a few hours.  My logs say I logged out 2:09 AM at 42 skill and my next log out at 3:16PM on the same day says 51.7.  Considering I probably didn't wake up 'till 11...plus misc. tasks and stuff (taking care of the deed and what not), I can only imagine I probably ground for 3 hours.

Personally, as a heavy grinder myself, I don't always find the "optimum" strategy ideal for long term grinding.  It might be 20-30% more effective than an alternative, but if the "optimal" plan takes a lot more concentration and effort and you burn out after an hour, it's probably not the most ideal (for most people).  A leaisurely but sure pace, I find, is the best way to getting many high skills.

That is good gain.  If i had not ran out of cotton i am sure i could have gotten further, maybe another point.   Really I was pointing out that nettraps are the only way to grind rope making.  No one is going to go 42-51 making mooring ropes,or trying to make cordage in a few hours, or few days imho without wasting an insane amount of time and wemp; I do not think it even possible in a "few days" via making ropes..

This was my first Impalog and next time I will go there with much more prep work but it was fun and I made some good friends there. :D

I just want to thank  roarkindrake and everyone else that was involved for the well arranged event. From my perspective everything was under control

but I am sure it took quite a lot of running around for roarkindrake & his team to get everything organised.

I looked into the forges a few times and it is sad that so many items will go un-imped just because of the sheer volumes.

I hope to see you all at the next one.
