Asking the obvious:

Did you put the pans into the forges yourself? (I feel bad even asking as I know you know what you're doing, just checking it off the list)

Did you put the pans into the forges before the restart then light after restart? (Going by the chat box, I'm guessing this might be what happened)

Did you log out at all after loading pans into forges and before lighting?

Did anyone else touch the pans while in the forge or before putting into forge?

possibly a brief disconnect broke the link to the pans?

Edit:  did the meals come out very low QL?  If so, you were disconnected.

Keep this in mind, Not many people realize this, But you DO fail at hot food cooking & mining & woodcutting. Its not always a skill tick.

QL Determines success, For example, at 40 mining, If you mine a 10ql shard, You failed the action & got very little experience. If you mine a 40ql shard(Assuming the wall allows 40ql ofcourse) you got 100% skill from it.

Its the same with hot food cooking, If you have a new character, Its best to level hot food cooking first before going into 1k pans. That way, With the difficulty of meals, You won't fail with like a 20:1 ratio.

Griff has 99.997 HFC, I doubt he failed to make 2000 meals/stews in a row :P

(Although it is wurm afterall and 99% success rate is still...questionable)

Don't cook when your internet is acting up. Watch the cook. If you see a glitch, pull the packs out fast!

I have not been hit with a random disconnect during a cook, but I did accidentally log my cook out after prepping 20 meals for my alts, before the meals finished. They were all like someone with 1 skill cooked them. No exp ticks at all.

Worth noting... I have had most of my alts do 2k pans, from skill 1. In each case, hfc went up to 53. Those were stews.

Skill tracker derps sometimes, you got NO ticks in the skills window or tab?

probably obvious question, did you put the pans into your inventory first before putting in the forge?  Because it will give skill to whoever had pans into their personal inventory last.

I think if someone else touches them it could take away the skill.

Loading in INV first then forge I think would change from a pan loaders last touch.

although at that skill level I dont know what the required diff of meals etc would be and the fail rate.

Did the backpacks(pans)touch your inventory?

Did you drag them from a container into the forge.

Or did you move them from the containers, into your inventory then into the forge?

Even tho it will let you drag them from a container, in to the forge. I don't think that you get ticks unless you move the backpacks/frying pans into your inventory before putting them in the forge.
