Bookshelfs as container

Recommended Posts

Bookshelves are grand, lovely, and quite useless aside from decor.  Let's put some common sense use to them that they should have had from the get go.

Please allow Bookshelves to store a select few types of items, examples being

  • reed pens
  • papyrus
  • gems
  • satchels
  • coinage
  • potions
  • jewelry
  • statuettes
  • lanterns (only the normal lantern, not lamp heads, torches, etc)
  • more common sense things

Further, lets reduce decay for items in these new bookshelf containers.  Lastly, nullify potion decay while inside a bookshelf.

Perhaps its a bug or maybe there is more in store for bookshelves because you can right click on a finished High Bookshelf and add it to the crafting window.

Edit --Might be to add a item to that empty shelf.

That would be cool, though I'd be content with normal storage even. :)

Bookshelves are placeholders until books are added. The they work similar to the way they work in skyrim. Adding container functionality now will only complicate things.

Problem is I've never seen it mentioned that books were coming.  For all that they mentioned about papyrus, that itself was the final product.  They really should document things a bit better.

Either way, this doesn't have to wait for books and would not complicate anythng...
