Adding large anvil to crafting window immediately crashes client with no error

Just as the title says, there is no error. The game just vanishes. However, I am not able to reliably duplicate it. There must be something else going on I don't see.

 

Steps I used...

 

Dragged lump from inventory to window

Right clicked anvil, add to crafting window

 

Immediately I am on windows desktop with no error

It seems java has cashed.

Check for hs_err_pid*.log files on the computer and post the contents.
