Severe lag, world not loading, random crashes since new server

Would just like to know if these issues are related:  Severe lagging to the point where I cannot play, random bouts of freezing, the world not loading after relogging, random crashes.  Are these because of the new server (since it only started after the new server opened) or because of the issues with the German host?  If anyone can give me some advice on how to limit the issues would be greatly appreciated.  Lowered settings and using Java 7 already, nvidia always used (not intel).

having all the issues stated in the first post and not for the first time since challenge started. Games broken yet again  :(

Same here, I am kind of a wurm fanboy, so it is hard for me to say this, but I am getting frustrated as a paying player :(


The lag is so bad, that things are continuously out of sync for me, if I ride  a car, I am usually like 4 meters ahead of the cart. Or what about fighting mobs? I can stand anywhere, and Ill be too far away to fight. Right clicking any item can take anything from 1 to 5 seconds... It also kind of feels like that the challenge(@##%$) server lead to this, but I don't know. Would just like to see an improvement, or at least staff admitting or announcing that they are aware of it, and working on it.

I just have intermittent lag, like tiny spikes. They are a second or two long but usually only to do with opening a storage item.

i have same issues as in first post, takes sometimes 5 mins to load the world, sometimes i have to relog, also lag spikes when farming i constantly get "you are too far away to do that" its really anoying when doing big farm..

Fairyshine, please post a copy of your console log here.  Often there is a java update or an update to our computers which changes the way wurm finds and uses java and/or our graphics card.  Let's first start with that to see if anything has changed, then work from there.

I will do that Alectrys, thank you very much for your response.

 

I reverted back to Java 7 a few weeks ago due to Java 8 causing short bursts of lagging, doors/gates not opening and so forth, similar but not as severe as the issues mentioned by the OP in this thread http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/115028-game-has-become-near-unplayable/.  I have automatic updates turned off for both Java and my computer, the only thing that changes could be my anti-virus updates.  The issues seem to be directly related to the time Challenge opened, and that is why I wondered if others had the same issues.  Last night all of us got booted which seemed related to when the spawns on Challenge took place, although I am not 100% sure on this either.  I will post my console log when I experience the issues named in the OP so people with computer skills can check it out :) which could hopefully get this fixed for me, which would make my horses happy as they can be on grass when I log off!

Can any of you technical types see anything in the log here that might help with Fairyshine's issue?  I suggested they post the logs for those who understand what they see, hoping we could get some help here.   Thanks in advance for trying!

java.io.IOException: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine

This usually happens when the the sender does not receive acknowledgement for transmitted packets after some time. Both are an indication of severe packet loss.
