2014 Dev Q&A question submissions

-are there any plans to rework the interface, allowing to add indefinite amount of more options, without adding more and more sub menus?


-will bridges have a minimum distance between each other? can they be stacked on top of each other through multi story buildings or street crossings?


-is there something like a "to-do" list for devs and could we maybe get a look into it?:) (just out of curiosity what Rolf WANTS to work on, like as example: the next year)


 


-to rolf specifically: do you ever get angry at all those complaints towards the game and devs that players post?:) how do you handle it?

How much damage reduction is added if armor is rare?

 

Can we get confirmation for effects of rare/supreme/fantastic items of other types? ie. tools used for creation, tools used for improvement, weapons, shields, bows, arrows, statuettes, war machines, ammunition for war machines, bow strings, locks of all types, lock picks, grooming brushes (and other 'special' items that don't fit a specific category), light sources, forges/ovens/campfires, etc.

 

Can we get confirmation of effects of certain skills that may be unknown or unnoticeable? ie. weapon, parent skills (smithing, theivery, carpentry when using subskills, nature, cooking, etc.)

 

Do characteristics have any effect outside combat, such as effects on their associated skills? ie. Do mind, mind logic, soul, and soul depth all modify hot food cooking?

 

What factors affect spell casting and how do those factors work?

 

What are the effects of hitting different body parts in combat? Do these work on mobs, and if not, are there plans to implement them for mobs in the future? ie. damage multiplier, penalty to parry rate for hitting shield arm, penalty to other functions of affected body parts, speed reduction for legs, reduction in effective skill/stats, etc.

 

What are the effects and magnitude of the effects of WoA and nimbleness on weapons? Do these work on shields as well?

We've all seen the continuous claims from multiple sides that God X is over/underpowered and attempts at balancing so far amount to bandaids that either leave other problems ignored or throw up new problems. Are there any plans to look into the entire religion system again and/or overhaul it from the ground up?

 

Currently kingdoms on Chaos tend to spread out greatly and limit the possibilities for new groups/kingdoms to set up, which reduces PvP to almost pre-scheduled, predictable instances. Is there any interest in making Chaos more appealing/accessible to new groups looking at founding a kingdom? Such as developing mechanics that make managing and maintaining a larger (%) kingdom more time consuming and ultimately making it more appealing to found a new kingdom in the first place?

 

Will PMK Chiefs ever get the ability to name their own title or at the very least will template appropriate titles ever be instituted?

 

Will Libila priests ever be allowed to cast on Freedom like other God's priests? (possibly with Fungus and Rite of Death disabled)

 

Is there any possibility in getting a games consultant to assist with balancing certain features since anything anyone here says (staff included, sorry guys/gals but you are only human) is automatically going to be biased in some form?

Over the years we have heard various content and mechanic issues stemming from "spaghetti code" or "if we change X then it will adversly affect the play on either PVP side or the PVE side. Even in simply giving some meaning to the astronomical alignments seems to be a no go due to the client and server not seeing them in the same way. The code is complex and even today developers run into issues with the code being tempermental and in cases a bit overdone, so to speak.


 


The question is - Has there ever been discussion about the possibility of changing the platform /engine on which Wurm runs? Has there ever been any disucussion about splitting the code base for PVE and PVP. Both those seem like obvious solutions to a lot of issues.What is the realistic viability of approaching those long standing issues from this perspective?

With Christmas around the corner, will you bring back wrapping items into gift boxes? (possible a week before Christmas) (even with a time limit of a few days before they decay with or without the item inside)


 


Will the Christmas tree get a new look?


 


Will we ever get new clothes/shoes? Nothing we have right now can be called "clothing", maybe the new hats and the very old cloth shirt. Even cavemen back in time had a set of furs of different sizes, colors and models to choose from and make themselves look preeeetty ... :D

I plan to purchase a trader but i am wondering, do you intend toi get rid of traders? I also was wondering if the art dev team was going to work on graphic improvements like tiles and other textures

So...the 9th has been and gone, and this thread is still open.  Is the Q+A still happening, or has this been silently forgotten?  There's some fantastic questions here, and I'd love to see answers to them!  There's not too many, so you could safely skip the voting stage and just start at the top with some answers.
