240kg is not too much, there are plenty of dyed knarrs, I have dyed 2x myself, and got enough dye+materials in stock to dye 5x more.

Makes it just more special and should stay this way.

 

And agree with Samool, we do need a container that allows this. Using bugged fountain container isnt rly right.

-1 not that I'm against the idea of painting ships:

 

Painting something as large as a knarr, corb or what have you should be expensive and material consuming. There just needs to be a way to paint stuff without using fountains in a backpack.

It would be nice if we could use the Huge Oil Barrel, which is not as huge as it sounds yet holds 2250kg of any fluid (well at least i know in addition to olive oil, it holds water, as I use it as an indoor water tank since it is not as huge and ugly as it sounds).

 

Build one dockside or at special ship refitting ports, fill it with your chosen dye, select the dye then right click the boat. 

 

Then you can leave all dye requirements as they are presently.

still needs 240kg to dye, but the paint brush only adds a little bit at a time. And with a 30sec time will take some time to fully paint.
