Posted November 5, 2014 it's annoying to disembark a ship to establish a heading. no problem with even winds, but tracking on those diagonal winds gets to be a headache when you end up having to backtrack into bad wind because you lost bearing for five minutes.not asking for always on compass, nor even while in carts, only while sailing. if we can't get winds to work out at least allow us to keep sane when spending hours sailing by not getting off course.
Posted November 5, 2014 Or have a new item, Nautical compass, stays stable under a certain speed, becomes unstable if you turn too much...to build, stnd compass plus some extra metal stablizing mechanic stuff
Posted November 6, 2014 /sarcasm onWhat a crazy suggestion...No it makes complete sense that we must jump out of our ships or moor them first in order to read a compass. /sarcasm offPlease god Rolf+1 Is there perhaps a coding issue that would keep this from happening? Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) I would rather have a special higher quality type compass like they had on ships in the old days. http://www.compassmuseum.com/nautical/nautical.htm Edited November 6, 2014 by Uberknot
Posted November 6, 2014 Definitely +1 I thought about this while sailing from release to xanadu. I had to moor my ship numerous of times just to figure out which direction I was heading during a long sail to find my new ideal place to settle.
Posted November 6, 2014 +1 for a ship mounted compass, it can replace the inventory compass wen you embark as captain.

Posted March 23, 2015 +2 +1 because nautical compasses are centuries' old, and Columbus didn't have to anchor every time he had to check it... or any other captain or admiral. and +1 because the fastest way to get your bearings, disembarking, means you've got a sloshing sound playing until you disembark on land again and that sound eventually makes a horrible person out of me.
Posted March 23, 2015 I think we should have to make a ships compass and add it to the ship.

Posted March 23, 2015 I say +20 I am all for a nautical version if needed but yeah mooring and jumping out of boat to read compass is just too silly. Please Please look into this.

Posted March 23, 2015 +1 for a functional ship compass. Perhaps it sloshes around a bit, and does not update when you turn for the 'settling" time. But, so long as you keep your bearing, it could settle and provide an accurate heading.
Posted March 23, 2015 +1 I think you have to stop when walking because they are oil and a needle. But in a ship it shouldn't matter so much since there are still waves while the ship is moored.
