Allow for too old boats/items to be moved

Recommended Posts

Right, I've recently started building this village near an old abandoned one on Serenity. Unfortunately, near this village is a group of boats including a giant Corbita which is locked with a fantastic quality lock and cannot budge. The owner of the boat has not logged in in over a year.

We have nowhere near the skill to unlock it, and GM's have refused to move it a few tiles away since this would "give us an advantage in PVP"

I'd like some kind of system which includes when a boat gets too old and unused, the lock snaps or something and it can be moved. This has halted our progress on a building and terraforming!

even if something like this was put in place, it wouldn't be on epic, so tell someone to lockpick it or lockpick it yourself, sounds like you already had a year to correct this problem if you grinded it

Um I just moved in to this village on saturday. I don't want a giant corbita.

Besides, I don't really want to HAVE to pay someone to get the thing out of the way.

I for one think the salvage rule should be reindicted, even on the epic cluster, especially if the owner no longer plays (ex.logged off for over a year) anything that player owns that another comes across should be able to easily get access to that said item, its not like the player is still trying to make it so said item is not being stolen anymore

Its just a personal opinion of mine that could help the waters of wurm have less clutter of abandoned ships, or the lands having abandoned homes that are incredibly difficult to access/remove

Just putting that out there

Aye, it adds to the clutter immensely. Better to have the resources be renew by having other players be able to take them than have them be stuck there ad infinitum.

My input might be better off as a suggestion of it's own, but I'll add it here because rotting boats really do need to be dealt with.

What about a mechanic where if a boat, no matter the ql, reaches a particular amount of dmg then when exmained by a player it removes the lock? Basically if you abandon your boat and over time it reaches high dmg, the lock will decay/poof/delete/vanish and anyone can sail it, loot it, etc. This obviously will work on pvp... but can still be bound to freedom rulesets.. where you cannot transfer ownership or cross servers.

Lets anyone raid high dmg boats, lets anyone move a boat offdeed after a while, gives the owner time to come back if they truly care... win/win?

its similar to my idea of letting a GM know that a ship has been abandoned, since they can look up a players info and when they were last online

I tried to use the salvage rule while it was still in the game on exodus, but i was denied ownership of the boats because the players have been on with i think it was the past 2-3 months

Its not like the rule made it unfair to the owners of the ships or anything, im just confused as to why it was removed in the first place

Answers every problem! +1 definitely

I asked the GM's to MOVE it a few tiles to not block my stuff anymore but they said it would give me an advantage in PVP.

Or atleast make it possible for GM's to move said abandoned ships out of the way of villages trying to build, im not to sure how that would impact PVP in anyway shape or form

Still no to salvage and no to examining popping a lock off.  There is a method in place for pvp servers already and it is called lockpicking.

We don't need more GM covered rulesets on pvp, and with increased boat damage it would be very bad for noobs with low ql boats

Boats just need to decay much faster than they do now.

I reckon a typical Wurm server has 10 times as many boats as the server has active players.

i wonder what this "advantage in pvp" might be...on indie I had no problem getting a boat moved a few tiles, but you also can't lockpick on indie....

There's so many abandoned boats that I currently own 6 boats that I found exploring the 200 tile radius around my house, all abandoned!

Since it's on a PVP server:

1. Pick the lock or find someone else to do it.

2. Bash it and if it can't be done make a suggestion so that the option becomes available on PVP servers.

Ships should have writs.  Once the deed owner has been gone >12 months without premium it decays like crazy.
