wurm client becoming "halfway disconnected" is fixed by upgrading to java 8

Hello people,

 

GM Teutates advised me to post the resolution to a problem I experienced Sunday night.

After a long time of having no problems, last night (Sunday) I began to experience "halfway disconnections"

where I could still see events and move around in the world, but right clicking on a tile would just

show a bouncing cursor and "refreshing...".

 

Era suggested upgrading to java 8.  I did, and the problem has not been seen again.

Just wanted to say that I upgraded to Java 8 recently based on another post I has seen about it working well with Wurm, and its working quite well for me. 

 

I did a full uninstall of Java first.

Just out of curiosity I tried to download java 8, but I seem to be a bit lost on these. There seem to be many versions, JDK, server JRE, JRE, which am I suppose to take?

You probably want http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/8u11-b12/jre-8u11-windows-x64.exe which is the 64-bit JRE. The JDK is the development kit, only needed if you want to develop java programs and the server JRE is similar to the JRE just tuned for server appliactions.
