Start Up Error

Hey, I've been unable to log in to Wurm since I installed an extra 2 gigs of RAM in to my computer, and I get this error message every time it loads, no matter how much I change my settings.

Caused by: java.io.IOException: A non-blocking socket operation could not be completed immediately

here's the whole report

You got disconnected from the server for some reason: <Lost connection to server>

Likely reasons include networks problems, the server going down for an update,and someone tripping over the cable.

Usually reconnecting in a few minutes will solve the problem, but if it doesn't, post the console log below on the wurm online forums, and someone might be able to help you.

I can't imagine this resulting in an upgrade of your memory and it looks pretty much network related. Try to make sure no firewall or router blocks your attempt to connect to the server on port 48000.

Try turning off the firewall for once if you're using one. If you don't know how to check on your router, better grab the manual or find someone who knows how to do that :)

Set up the router to allow access to port 48000, although the game worked fine previously without this addition.  However, this did nothing.  I'm still getting the same error as before.  I'm not running any firewalls, and I've made certain no programs are trying to use the same port as Wurm.  Any more suggestions?

Crashes when the loading bar says connecting.  Does anyone have an idea?  Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, really want to get back to playing.

After running the game under Ubuntu through a dual-boot, updating it to 9.04, and then restarting into windows, the problem seems to have been solved.

Too bad that noone had a clue but I'm glad it's resolved. Any idea what may have caused it exactly?

I have no idea whatsoever.  It wasn't my router causing the problem, no matter what I did, nothing helped.  It wasn't my settings, I can play now with any setting I want.  It wasn't my java update, that did absolutely nothing.  The only thing I changed was my boot priority to get into Ubuntu, where Wurm worked great, albeit with unplayable frame rates, followed by an update to 9.04.  After this, it works absolutely fine in Windows as well as Ubuntu.  If anyone can see the logic in that, please share it with me.
