Posted June 24, 2014 I already tried most of the big games like ESO, GW2, Wildstar, etc. Minecraft is fun but I had a bit of a falling out with the server I was playing on when they wiped all the creative plots just to make the roads between them a different color. Not really a fault of the game, but after seeing all my awesome projects get deleted, I'm really iffy about playing on anyone else's server. I've been playing Starcraft 2 the past few days, and looking around for another game that might be worth playing. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Posted June 24, 2014 Sid's Alpha Centauri, the pro teraforming game before wurm. Based on the civ 2 engine but a lot more complicated it uses a science fiction theme well, allows you to customize your government in a similar way to civ 4 and completely customize your units. There's currently a remake on its way but it sems to lack the ability to shape the land which was an interesting addition to the civ template. Don't like your neighbor but their tougher then you, raise your land and build aquifiers and strip him of a source of water. Win. Don't know what bracket of game you were looking for in particular but others come to mind Silent Hunter 3Planescape TormentLiberal Crime SquadCataclysm Dark Days Ahead
Posted June 24, 2014 Path of Exile, its an action RPG game which has a lot of customization and a really huge skill tree. The game is really similar to Diablo and is also free.
Posted June 24, 2014 Starbound, I started playing it yesterday, seems like a better version of terraria. And if you can play singleplayer games..... for the love of god, you need to revise the whole Total War saga, those games stay with you for life.
Posted June 24, 2014 What do you like/dislike about games?I can sit here and type out a bunch of names but it;d help to know what you like and don't like.A game can be great off the bat, but what keeps that greatness going is the people you play it with. Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Arma 3 - Altis Life Mod (has some sandbox feeling) Edited June 24, 2014 by Sklo:D
Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Well you made an account on mmorpg just to bash wurm when it was being advertised so go look for a new game over there they have thousands of games listed. Edited June 24, 2014 by Kegan

I like sandbox games, but there's not a whole lot of options there. I agree that having great people to play with really helps in the longevity of a game, so any games with strong social/community aspects would be right up my alley, whether it's a theme park or real time strategy game. Take Starcraft 2 for instance, I mostly play it for Phantom Mode, which I like because of the social aspect of it. You have to actually talk to the other players, and try to figure out which ones are the Phantoms. I find that much more enjoyable than regular Melee games because of all the social interaction that goes on, and the friends/enemies you end up making. This is why I hated ESO, and Neverwinter Online. You was never really motivated to speak to any of the dozens of other players running around you. Plus items are Bind on Pickup if they're any good, so that basicaly takes the trading/selling right out of the game. On Guild Wars 1 I liked being able to acquire a gold weapon, and find some n00b in Ascalon to sell it to. Then I could use that gold to hire better players to help me complete the harder quests. Nowadays you can solo most MMO's. So yeah, socializing will be important whatever type of game I play. As for genre or theme, I'm pretty open-minded. I'll review all suggestions later today. Thanks everyone.

Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Divinity Original Sin might be an interesting game (rpg), it comes out in six days. It doesn't have a lot of socializing with other people, but It does have 2 player co-op, where each player plays one of the main characters (in single player you control both main characters). I have somebody to play it co-op with, and from what we played during early access it's great fun. The game has a very interesting socialization system with NPCs, where the two player characters both have a say and can even disagree with each other. Dark Souls 2 might also be interesting, the co-op and pvp aspects don't actually involve socializing through text chat, but people often make use of the emotes to socialize instead. Posted June 24, 2014 Dark souls 2, nuf said Is it really that good? I keep hearing everyone praise it. Never tried the first one, should I get it first?
Posted June 24, 2014 It's really good. The first game really buggy on PC, though if you download some fixes made by the community its all fine. The second one is better in terms of performance and bugs, but the gameplay is not as good. If you plan on playing Dark Souls, you should start from the first game. Posted June 24, 2014 Reading about the skill system in Path of Exile, it seems like it may be worth a try.. I might also pick up Dark Souls. Thanks for the suggestions!
