Visible Armor Dyes

Recommended Posts

Just have been thinking for awhile that it would sorta be cool if when you dye some of your armor and drop it and it looks like the color you dyed it if you put it on it looks like the color you dyed it instead of it looking normal again. also if we could dye plate armor any color as well as the helm and shield like we can now would also be nice :)

+1 if each piece takes 5-20kg dye to make it more admirable, not 0.5kg

It would render chainmail types useless though, since their entire appeal is different colours.

Maybe only for cloth/leather?

For cloth this seems to be natural, for other armor types... Not too much.

Yeah there is an element of preference between people over drake colours for sure. Dying those would seem kinda off to me atleast until we can get partial dying of items.

Well, dies are applied over the item's baseline color, so you can use the current colored armors to make it even more up to spec. For example i can see people adding black dye to seryl armor to make it a darker red. Or adding red to bronze to make it a more lava-red like color.

Etc.

The parts that keep the drake color could be masked to not be dyed, or same applies as above.

6 kg of dye is enough to paint a rowboat, 20 kg is enough for a large cart. That should be an indicator of how well thought your suggestion was.

No, it wouldn't actually.

Have the dye somewhat change due to the colour of the armour, afterall, if you paint green over say, Copper,  and then a iron piece IRL........both are going to look different.

Colossus is 67kg dye

Knarr is 240kg dye

Doesn't matter

Armor pieces might just take more dye for little details =)

Also would like to see an actual item that could be equipped to fill those shoulder and cape places in the character window sometime. haha

+1 IF the models account for painted areas and its not just the color shaded over the whole thing willy nilly.

I'd still like dye able plate just make the colors on special armors more unique and vivid - then dye would not effect them as interesting

no, IRL it would look the same, since you wouldnt paint a metal armour with ink or watercolours, most likely you are going to use a paint (esmalte) that has the strenght to hold to metal, and cover it completely.

The method for dying cloth armour, would be completely diferent, and there yes, the base colour would overlap with the dye colour.

EDIT-  Think of a white T-shirt thats gets stained when you wash it with colour clothes, and then think of car paint.
