Xanadu - no ambient sound for multiple players

Recommended Posts

Dear Devs,

it seems there is a bug with the ambient sounds on Xanadu, at least in the region of R15-S15 ingame map:

No ambient sounds for any players except the owl sound. No wind, no birds, no frogs etc.

No problem with same client on other servers, ambient sound checkbox is ticked in sound settings.

The same applies to multiple player playing from other geographical locations on different operating systems, I have confirmation from 4 different users.

None since I came. At P24 on the map. Only an occasional owl.

I don't have ambient sounds too, except the owl and wolf. I have sounds on all other servers. I would like to hear water sounds and bird tweets :)

I had the same issue on my boat when I crossed.  I had sounds on Deli, but when I crossed over to Xanadu, I no longer had boat creaking sounds.  My coastal deed on Xanadu is dead silent except for hoot owls.

Having the same problem at E18, is there any way of fixing this?

Confirmed - no boat sounds, no sloshing sounds, no bird sounds on land, no wind sounds.

The only sound I get is an occasional owl (I think).

Hi guys

Still no ambient sounds - it is real sad, missing the background sounds much. Location: S 14 on ingame map. Only owl howls sometimes, no wind, no frogs, nothing else... There is also no ship sounds while travelling on Xanadu until I cross to another server

thx

I'm also having this issue, noticed today. I thought it was just my sound settings, but the only thing I have turned off is work sounds. I doubt location has anything to do with it, but I live nearly F26, nowhere near anyone else mentioned above. This is a rather significant issue and I think a response is warranted. I won't hold my breath though.

F26, do not hear birds chirping or wind. Definitely a potential Xanadu issue.

Still the only sound is a single lone owl that hoots once in a while.

Can we get some dev to actually look at this pretty please? Only hearing the *clank* *clank* *clank* of my bricks for hours and no other sound is starting to be boring :(

Do we actually have a sound dev we can PM about this? If so what is their name, it is really time to fix this.

Well I strongly hope it is easy to fix... Really makes the experience dull...

Had a quick look into this, doesn't look like a quick fix unfortunately.

Need some more info from those having the problem:

1. Xanadu only?

2. What area on the map?

3. Does it work nearby? If so, what area on the map does it work?

4. What is the terrain like where it doesn't work, i.e. mostly sand, mostly grass, mostly trees, mostly paved etc.

5. What is the terrain like where it does work?

For me:

Xanadu only - immediately after crossing from Release. Hasn't worked anywhere in the S/SE in Xanadu for me. Not dependent on terrain.

Added to the bug list, please report any area that you do hear ambient sounds, if any.

My deed is around M8 and i don't hear any ambient sounds at all (water, steppe, sand, grassland, paved, tundra, whatever)

Going a bit north (maybe 200 tiles, not exactly sure) all ambient sound plays normally.

I'll try to measure more exactly when i travel.

My friend told me she thought the sounds disappeared after they tried fixing the lagging on Xanadu.  She thought it may have been turned off to stop lagging. I asked her again she said she hears owls and sometimes a fish jumping but nothing else.

Xanadu only

P24

Works nowhere on Xanadu (Edit: that I have been to)

Hilly island with woods (of course water too - no waves sounds). Very little land has been disturbed.

The only working ambient sound is the new owl. The old owls are not there.

When you hear the owl, is it ever during the day, or only at night?

At night do you ever hear a wolf howl too, or only ever the owl?

Found the bug, should be fixed in next client update (6283 or later).

Someone let me know if it isn't.
