Tent - Water Tiles

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is intended or not but you can drop a tent on a water tile. Not a major thing but thought i would post it anyway.  (Not sure about the rest but for sure the newbie tent)

Tent can also be placed while in combat, which seems like a bug. If you're about to die, you can just drop it and respawn right on your corpse. (Sure the monster will still be there...but just stay logged out for a couple hours and it should be far enough away to not aggro)

I believe the idea of these tents was to help new players, at least in part. I could imagine both of the above could very well be intentional.

We have been having some problems with tents near water tiles and it clearly seems like a bug because it's not possible to pick them up from the ground once dropped too close to water.

Yesterday we were out on a boat trip from Xanadu to Celebration, via Exodus. Dropped 2 explorer tents on a tile next to water on Exodus but we couldn't pick them up again, we got a message that said "You can't put that in the water.", we tried dropping dirt but didn't manage to get them, had a GM respond and we got them back again.

Next when we were on Celebration we dropped them off, this time 3-4 tiles away from water but when we got back the same thing happens "You can't put that in the water." when we tried to pick them up.

This time we heard different information from GMs that responded, first said that the tent needs to be 8 tiles above water and another GM said that tent needs to be at least 10 tiles above water, "its not actually a bug its implemented that way, because its easier to check where you stand than where tent will drop to prevent exploiting tent to cross water by /suicide", yes but why can we drop them too close to water if we can't pick them up again?

Hi Frida - we noticed that too but found if you are elevated you can pick the tent up, so either sit on a horse or stand on a cart while picking the tent up.  Seems the person picking the tent up - if being higher than the tent - can pick up even close to water.
