Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) I was thinking while i was talking to a friend about trade, Could we add sugar or spices etc like in the 1800s it would lead to a better trading experience and would be a valuable resource. I was thinking that only people with high farming levels can farm it so it adds value to this resourace Edited May 22, 2014 by ciaran114
Posted May 22, 2014 also we could add plow horses, bison, cows etc
Posted May 22, 2014 But what would we use it for? The cooking system is a little too simplistic right now for those things to be needed per se. Having a plow that tills the land is a neat concept, however current mechanics wouldn't support it unless crops harvested to packed earth. Perhaps it could advance the stage of crops by one? (Planting on a tilled tile> sprouting instead of seeds).
Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) I like that idea for the plow, it could advance it's stage by one or it could make it irrigate or grow faster or even produce more crops (seeds spread faster) Sugar could be used as a better way to make sweater foods Edited May 23, 2014 by ciaran114
Posted May 28, 2014 while this is a realistic idea - I think its a bit to much simulation for a sandbox game - as they already have maple syrup and several herb type spices that are rarely if ever used and the plow - I'd rather instead of speeding up a farm - being allowed to tend say 3x3 grid of tiles in 1 shot - but make it require 60+ carpentry and a steel plow blade - it would take 3 times as long as a normal tend but do 9 tiles worth - would help those larger farms
Posted May 29, 2014 You might need to give some plus points to this to make it more attractive.Putting sugar in food could make you have more nutrition? About 20%.Although it's a little weird putting sugar in meat recipes. Might be bread or so though.
Posted May 29, 2014 yeah sugared meat doesn't sound to appealing also when has adding sugar to anything made it nutritious
Posted May 31, 2014 I like how you changed the plow idea thats a very good idea, but on the sugar front i think we could make a few sweet breads and maybe it adds nutrition or even preserves food for longer not sure if food goes off though
Posted May 31, 2014 it seems like your adding a item thats already in game maple sap/syrup - its already used for making jams wine and cakes (plus sure some other stuff) its just why add sugar - what does sugar add that maple syrup doesn't already do? I heard a suggestion about honey once the guy made a great comment that it would slowly accumulate over time have same use as maple syrup - be grow able so thus not harvest once every 25 days - and have uses with wax as well as several other ideas I like the idea of adding things its just I always remember someone telling me - when you think about adding something ask your self - does something like this exist already in game - does it create the same items but slightly different or does it make something brand new - and the difficulty of adding it like bridges will be (fingers crossed) awesome and game changing - but at same time they are monstrously hard to code (apparently) but the code time is worth the game changer
