Posted May 2, 2014 So on chaos and Epic there is only a few reasons to really pvp Loot - rank - affinity's - hota - boredom this generally involves a ton of new players being killed - rage quitting - and wurms population forever staying small forever so why not more reasons to fight people in your own fight range be it rewards for killing people stronger then you (like karma) or more pvp events like hota - seems like this would slow the loss of new people by giving people a real high level pvp goal and making more people stay in wurm slowly increasing our numbers and to the owners of game just saying more people = more cash
Posted May 2, 2014 so why not more reasons to fight people in your own fight range be it rewards for killing people stronger then you (like karma) You already get karma from kills
Posted May 2, 2014 The other day I was thinking that would be nice to do like hota stuff, of some kind of PvP that would give kingdom wide buff, not just rewards to the person that do X(like the last person to build a temple). Things like 2%- crafting timer, +1% imp speed for smithing/carpentry/XYZ...etc kingdom wide(no buff that would affect directly PvP like stamina and that kind of stuff), would make me want to go to Ele. And of course some kind of mechanic to avoid a kingdom stacking too much of this buff. And would give me that feeling of doing it for the greater good. Yes I know we got missions, but Valrei is a bit too much random to make feel like I'm doing something that I'm sure will be usefull.
Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) instead of for or against arguments, we should look at removing ways to avoid pvp such as home servers. Edit: By playing on epic you are 'for' pvp. no need to add extra stuff. Edited May 2, 2014 by Tryfaen
Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Instead of removing ways to avoid pvp, maybe you should consider why people try to avoid it and then fix those issues? If you just remove the ways to avoid pvp, then those people might just decide to go to Freedom, they might even pull some of their friends, who do pvp, with them. So removing ways to avoid pvp could result in less pvp instead of more. It's much better to encourage people to change their play style than to force them. If you just remove the ways to avoid pvp, then those people might just decide to go to Freedom, solving absolutely nothing on the pvp end. at least it would solve the problem of them annoying us wit posts in the epic section. Or just quit the game all together, which seems to be what this person wants. He doesn't want me casually PvPing like I'm doing now, or PvPing more often like I would if I had a reason to, he seems to want me out of this game.
Posted May 2, 2014 personally, I have all the reasons I need to pvp, but touching on the subject of newbies, on chaos at least, having them spawn RIGHT FRIGGING NEXT to the HOTA is hardly ideal. We see people start playing, try to build up on the hota, log in to find their walls have decayed in the space of a couple of days, or getting killed during hota. Posted May 2, 2014 Not to be picky here: But this is the suggestions/ideas forum. "Make pvp more incentivized" without providing any way to do so doesn't really count as a useful suggestion. Lets see some thought/effort put into how you could fix the problem rather than just stating what's wrong please.
Posted May 2, 2014 actually I did give ideas such as additional events like hota - better gains for higher level players being targets but how about 2 special zones in elevation that are capture - (claim all 4 guard towers for instance) then gives a side bonus to that kingdom while held
Posted May 3, 2014 I know I would care more about PvP if the combat system wasn't so boring.
