I haven't read any of this 19 page thread but if it's not already been suggested then I suggest that GMs should be the publishers of books or maybe just 1 or a few trusted people who people submit books too and then they tell them whether certain parts or words need changing. So it is like moderation on the books but also realistic.

A problem with this suggestion is that it would probably take up quite a bit of storage space to store every book on their system

People can still write books, they just have to have them checked by a publisher before they can release it, I doubt they are just going to let people write anything they want, we'd probably end up with loads of ascii porn books lol

Because we can't bother GM's with everyone's books, there's barely enough on the server to moderate normal stuff. Writing an inappropriate book is no different then making signs with obscenities on it, and the ones with inappropriate content would be reported like any other in game object. "Publishing" implies mass production, which obviously wouldn't be the case. Each book would have to be made individually, not to mention that the maker would have his signature on it, so it wouldn't be hard to find out who's making all the ascii porn books.
