  1. Hello Wurmians Me and Davih are glad to announce the opening of The Rare Knarrs Shop. Knarrs are the best to sail around, especially in shallow waters, and the rarity increases their speed and gives them a nice glow. Our knarrs are usually made with archaeology woods; below you can see the picture of the knarrs and also an image from the wurmpedia, to have a better idea of the wood color types. Each rare knarr costs 70 silvers, delivered to any coast. So what are you waiting for? You can contact me or Davih here in the forum or in game (as Luttuosaa and Davihh); if you have any doubt, feel free to contact us. Rare Cherry Knarr. Rare Grape Knarr. Rare Oleander Knarr. 2. I remade all my Crate racks and BCU to Walnut, well because I like the color. I have decided I wanted to remake all my FSB's in walnut to match, however in the picture below you can see clearly the colors do not match. Is this intended to be that way or just a wrong mapping in the code? Walnut Crate rack Walnut FSB

  10. I think we should use lye to prepare wood, prior to dying, to give the dyes a better chance to show the correct colors. The lye should bleach it down to a very pale grey color, that will have almost no impact on the dyes color.
  11. Well now that we have the plain stone walls for houses should the tall stone walls be remade and take the wood trim off of them too? (or maybe a new tall wall without the trim)

  14. Awesome updates on the different wall and floor textures so far. Can't wait for it to spread to bridges! Next step along those lines would be the different wood types for flooring. I loved the old applewood BSBs and would kill for an applewood floor that had the same look. A lovely cherry red floor would be amazing too! Polished or unpolished could be a great touch, giving off a bit of a shine for polished, but I suspect that could be a hit on performance. Art department is kicking some booty right now. Keep up the great work!

  17. As the topic says -- some things that are made of wood don't reflect the wood type. (I.e.: barrels made out of oak and birch look exactly the same.) So far encountered it with: BSB FSB Small and Large Barrel Possibly also an issue with: Large and Small Cart NOT and issue with: Large and Small Chest Beds
  18. Ran into a weird bug today. I've been making hundreds of wooden shafts for yoyos. No problems, no issues. Then, all of the sudden, on this particular batch...some of the shafts come out as birchwood...even though I only pulled pinewood logs from my BSB, have pinewood showing in my inventory and crafting interface....very strange. Only a few random shafts of the whole came out as being made from birch. Reproduced a second time (see 1st time screenshot and 2nd time screenshots in spoilers below). Process: Grabbed "all I can carry" pinewood logs from my BSB (14 logs). Drop into crafting interface window. Drop carving knife into window. Choose "shaft" from menu. Spam "create" over and over, periodically emptying inventory into BSB. I could not find any rhyme or reason for the quantity, frequency, etc. with which they would randomly come out as birch instead of pine. Also, I didn't have any birch of sufficient QL to produce shafts of the QL that came out, so it was like a phantom portion of a birch log. Though, as you can see in both images - all pine.

  21. Please add Hickory as a new wood type. Why? Quote from the Wiki: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hickory) "Hickory wood is very hard, stiff, dense and shock resistant...The combination of strength, toughness, hardness and stiffness found in hickory wood is not found in any other commercial wood. It is used for tool handles, bows, wheel spokes, carts, drumsticks, lacrosse stick handles, golf club shaft... etc." Also many of the tools I personally have in real life have Hickory handles. Many of the tools I see for sale at the store seem to make it a big deal to point out that they are made of or from Hickory.
  22. During the usual discussion helping a new player with fueling a fire, especially explaining the difference between putting fuel into the fire's container and activating the fuel to Burn, something occurred to me. Why not let both actions fuel the fire? Any item of the right type is destroyed inside a fire container, and that item is lost anyways, so what's wrong with letting that item end up fueling the fire as well? Offhand it seems like it would help remove some confusion and help make gameplay more intuitive. Not to mention immersive. EDIT: Confirmed to already be the case, at least with campfires. Updating the wiki accordingly.

  24. Since the wood texture issue is fresh, what if we had a normal play day where all woods had a generic texture. Could simply be "brown", no grains, no hinges, (no monkey faces), etc. This would be the ultimate reduction in visible wood texture and should give an awesome result on performance data. I for one want to know: Will this improve client side performance, or will it increase overall server performance? I'm more than willing to spend a day looking at boring brown boxes, to get some concrete results. 1. If this texture change is to increase client performance, I bet we would all love a check box in settings to turn it on or off. 2. If this is all about server performance and it makes the 1 second lag between every action go away, then I'm all for generics. That lag is so bad, then there are times when I fall off a big mountain, quickly click my climb button, then literally face plant at the foot of the mountain, before climb activates. I consider this a much bigger issue than a wood texture. Thank you!
