After that i spent like 7k hours on unlimited i know about all the things that are not even close but well i decided to try again on WO, maybe this time im more fit to task lol. I want to try the new cluster if possible but open to offers on south. Thanks.
  3. I heard about this game for the first time cause I saw it posted in the MMO Sub on Reddit. Said it was coming to Steam in a week (I think 5 days from now) so I decided to give the original servers a go to practice and learn. I've got experience in survival games and MMOs of all kinds ( the skills system reminds me of Everquest 1 and I love that) I had a rough time Day 1 when I played it all day. Could not figure out what to craft to get going to where I could eventually get rid of my starter tools and sword. I also tried a PvP server and didn't really understand how things worked so I have a few questions if someone could be so kind to answer them for me. 1. Could someone explain how PvP servers work? I'm a big PvPer mainly because it adds more caution and fear to the game which adds more interactions to the game weather good or bad. What are Kingdoms? Can you change Kingdoms? How can you change Kingdoms? Why does everyone start in the same Kingdom? Is there anyway to tell what Kingdom a random player is in? Maybe by examining them or something? I ask all these PvP questions because that's where I started was the PvP server and I attacked an AFK player on their own deed near the starting city and now I am always Kill On Sight and being ''hunted'' whatever that means? How do you remove hunted btw? 2. How does it work when transferring from the PvP server to the PvE server? I heard your skills nor items go with you so it's basically like having one character on one server and one character on another but you can't transfer anything back and forth and your skill levels will also not go hand in hand. 3. The PvE server has one island/map that is PvP? Can you build and live on that PvP island? Is there rare resources there? What's the reason for a PvP island on a PvE server? 4. I saw in a comment somewhere that PvP servers have rare resources or something to that extent. If that is true then why doesn't everyone just play on the PvP server since you can't transfer the resources back to the PvE server? 5. Someone told me that starter gear was ''no drop'' meaning you don't lose it on death or anything. Well if that's the case then why did I completely lose everything in my inventory when I died on a PvP server? Was it because I died to actual PvP? Even though it was by the hand of a spirit/ghost and not an actual player? 6. I was reading the "Guide to the Freefolk'' and they made it sound like you could buy Premium with in game currency? Like 10 silver was enough for 2 weeks or something? Is that true? Is there a difference in the Premium you buy with real money vs. the Premium you buy with in game currency? Do they give the same exact benefits? 7. Where do you see how much coin you have? I know I have zero starting out but it's nice to know these things. Also, are their banks to keep it in? Or is it just bound to your account and you can never lose it even on PvP servers? 8. Is there a mail system in game? Can you send mail to other people directly or to other villages? How? 9. Can you craft/make notes in game and leave them in different inventories or give them to other players? 10. I heard something about community made maps that are very detailed and have way more detailed than the in game maps. Where do I find those? 11. Heard about the priest system or something about praying to gods to unlock magic. And I also believe I saw some altars at the starting city? Anyone got more info on that? Is it best to start praying as soon as you start a character? Sorry for all the questions guys. If I would have known this game was out 15 years ago I would have tried it back then.
  4. Currently the material requirement for sleeping bag is so insane that it is only ever useful as a decoration. it takes like over 200 materials to make one. early game its too difficult to aquire that much wool easier to make a bed. late game you probablay already have a place to sleep or max sleep bonus or a place to go home. - Sleeping bag should be an alternative before you can make a bed. (this is how it is in most games and makes sense) - another option would be to add a "primitive bedroll" that gives low sleep bonus like 30% but is easy to make like 20-30 items. (does not require loom , spinning wheel fleet of sheep)
  5. New players helping new players! Come on over and join the fun currently have 2 people on deed looking for a few more feel free to message me in game or send a request over =) -KingLozon

  7. Something made me think of when I started playing Wurm as a newbie. I was excruciatingly lucky my original mayor was around coz he was working on the near by starter town. I soon found out he is rarely around. While milling around as a newbie someone was advertising to buy newbie dirt. They were offering half price & when i pushed to split they wouldn't have a bar of it so i thought, I'll dig my own dirt & sell it at the difference. 2 years later I haven't sold any dirt but I've filled bsb's of the stuff terraforming the town I bought from my original mayor. When I bought the village it came with a room with half to a dozen bsb's of dirt. Sitting here now I think about what my villagers would give for such an offer. ..but.. I have 55.75 digging to show for it If I had understood the value of hql tools & how much they speed up the process immensely I might not have been so confronted by the effort getting the dirt when the offer was put to me. I still see players now & then offering to buy @ half price. If they are quick they could post there forum stores below for free advertising
  8. It breaks my lil heart to watch the CA HELP tab and see the number of brand new players just getting completely obliterated by huge problems at the start of their adventure. A lot has been done to make the game more accessible over the years; it's all very impressive. The problem, as I see it, is that new players seem to always go to Xanadu. Now maybe that's not true - perhaps it's equal across all the servers - but the ones in trouble, the ones that cry in vain for assistance are invariably on Xanadu. So here's my basic idea: let's not give Xanadu as an option to toons created on fresh email addresses. Assume that they are brand new players, and stop them going to the biggest, most murderous, most isolated, most awe-inspiring server until they have skilled-up, or perhaps they're joining friends already there on an established deed. Something like that. Speaking for myself, I'd cross half a server to help a noob bleeding to death in the woods, but I cannot do that on Xan. Nothing against Xan; I am just thinking about the new players and the realities of being dropped into the middle of it. I'm really not trying to revitalise the older servers; I have interests on several servers including Xan, where I have deeded 3 times in different places. I like Xan. Xan doesn't like noobs. I think a mechanic along the above lines would lead to an increase in the Xan population as people will aspire to go there, and they'll be playing long enough to make that a reality, because they'd have survived better on the smaller servers. Sorry that i didn't write this better, but I hope you can see my point, and that the idea is actually helpful.
  9. This idea is being floated by Bloodscythe in the town square and I think it's a good idea and should be linked here since it pertains to us.
  10. Hello, I have read the long thread about guided starter towns. I think, that everything that is needed for engaging new players to stay in the game can be provided by the community. I am shure there are a lot player in the game that love to help new arrivers and I mean not only those who want to sell something to them. For my opinion its hard to get in touch with the new players if they dont ask questions in the chat window. So it would be a lot easier to find them if they would start in only one player town on one of the servers. I am shure this would encourage people to even let the markets grow around this town, to gather there often and newbies would place their first deeds around this town which would also allow all those new pleayers to not only meet the old WO gamers but more important: each other. I think its so nice to start a game with other starters, to explore the game together. But at the moment new people just dont meet each other because they are so spreaded over the map. As I started I walked trough the deadly lonely but heavily built Glasshollow and was asking myself if I am the only gamer in this game. If citys are empty I hought... the whole game must be. So the first impression for a new player should be that the game is alive, that other players are around and thats not possible with so many starter towns. I know a lot of players want the new ones to start on -their- server, and that is understandable because they want their server to stay lively. But if people dont stay in the game because they find it to lonely and hard to start... that doesnt help at all. For my opinion, it would help a lot to give new players one only starter town. This would encourage people who want to help newbies to be able to actually meet them. This would help new players to meet other new players in the game. It should be a starter town to which older gamer can travel easily to (reachable by ship not to far from server borders) so that they also are encouraged to go there, use the market there and help the new players. What do you think?
  11. Along the lines of having the 24hr light & agro range benefits for new players, I suggest also adding in a marker on compass, which shows the direction of the starter town. Why? Because one of the most common things that happens to new players is getting lost first thing. Been watching the CA the last few weeks and seen it happen a few times. Edit: Marker on compass only lasts 24hrs of game time, just like the other newbie buffs.
  12. I wasted 95 mins in the game just trying to play it, IM SO ANGRY. the server wont work. it shows like its on but the server isnt showing in the lan/internet tabs. 18. Hello, I am a player who originally started playing on Wurm Unlimited. I already have a grasp on how the game works. I'm looking for a freedom deed to be around other players, and learn more about the game. I'm generally a fast learner, and easy to get along with. I am currently a premium member, so my skill gain isn't capped at 20. Thanks.
  19. This is only a suggestion. I have no idea how difficult or complex this would be. The ability to jump would be nice. If it is an Issue of fences wouldn't it be possible that with the Fence Models you can make them two tier with the second begin invisible? Another suggestion is: Is there any way to make this game into an EXE file? I have nothing but problems with java. each time I log out, if i want to log back in I need to clear java temp history.
  20. Posted Today, 12:17 PM korsarul, on 19 Oct 2015 - 06:33 AM, said: So glad you had a such a great experience. Thinking on this, an imping type area that new players could spawn at when they join game for a few days could really help further the tutorial of the game.

  22. Hey there guys! To let you know, I'm not really a new player. I tried this game a couple years ago, and quite frankly, I got addicted in no time. Like, seriously. I played for a month non-stop, in my little shack, grinding and grinding over and over again in hope of achieving something nice someday. Obviously, I had to quit for personnal reason and I never got back since then. From the time I played, I know there's been massive change to the game. New items, multiple-story buildings, new servers etc, etc... I want to get back, but I don't know where to go exactly. I don't want to play alone, at any case, because I don't have the time to play this game like I want to and I don't want to get stuck without any projects. To let you all know, I'm heavily focusing on PvE rather than bashing people's skulls. I don't mind getting into some fights for the fun of it, like for exemple, a tournament, or something like that....but I like I said, I don't have the time to repair my stuff over and over again because some guys just want to see the world burn. I'm working way too much during summer and I want to play with nice people during my days off. I know there is a section talking about new people recruitement, but I would rather like to have your impressions you have about your "realm". So, that's pretty much it! I'm wishing you all a good time playing and who knows, we might walk along the road together someday!!

  24. When playing a game the fastest way for me to lose the motivation for it is to cheat. Opening the console and turning on godmode or giving me money is fun for a while but soon you realise there's no more challenge and you quit the game. Now Wurm is an extreme game. Everything is so hard to achieve that once you've done it you really feel pride in your achievements. And since I know how much time and dedication it took to finally be able to f.e. craft a 90Ql pickaxe and enchant it with a solid WoA 90 I rather not sell it at all than to underprize it. Now here are a few hypotheses: 1. A player who buys a high level account doesn't cherish the work needed to get it to where it is. 1.1. Therefore he/she is more likely to undercut the prizes on the market. 1.2. The market is flooded with good gear at low prizes forcing the other players to a) undercut as well or stop trying to sell anything. ---> Allowing to sell accounts hurts the economy dramatically. 2. A player who buys an account buys its reputation as well. 2.1. Other players might not know the account had been sold and trust the good reputation. 2.2. The new owner might not be so kindhearted and trustworthy as the reputation of the account make him/her seem. ---> Allowing to sell accounts opens the door for mischief, trolling and grieving. 3. A player who buys a high level account can do all the things that need higher skills immediately. 3.1. He/She doesn't get the feeling of accomplishment like the others after finishing a project. 3.2. He/She is bored of the game faster and is more likely to a) leave the game and/or sell the account again. 3.3 Veteran accounts don't "die out" making room for newer ones. ---> Allowing to sell accounts hurts the player count in the long run. Of course these hypotheses don't apply to every person who buys/bought an account! What do you think? Please discuss!
  25. I need some help. I'm having trouble formulating a coherent explanation of why or what I need help with. I think my main problem is I never find a community that pulls me back to Wurm. I want to go solo into Wurm but I can never survive well enough to have fun. I'm constantly repairing everything I make, so much so that I can't progress very much each play session. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm looking for somewhere that I can learn this game and find a community I enjoying been in.
