  1. Many people allowing Leading for non-citizens on their deed for one reason or another. Those reason can include but are not limited to: Self-Serve animal selling service(s) Allowing newbies or other players to freely take unwanted animals for themselves Allowing newbies or other players who have recently received an animal to pass through their deed without worry of Disconnect, Death or otherwise losing lead of an unbranded animal being lost to "You can't do that here" when attempting to recover their new animal after an event that caused them to lose the lead. The problem however with having "Lead" permission enabled on a Deed means that branding your own animals does not protect them from being led off your Deed (or anywhere) by anyone passing through. This means any riding animals you have equipped with gear such as shoes, saddle and bridle can just be walked off at any point from anywhere in the world. Whether it is on your Deed or not. (I had this confirmed with a friend of mine from another deed, who was able to take my Bison who was branded to my own Deed) The only way to combat this is to make sure every branded animal to my Deed has this permission set: Having this permission set per animal no longer allows anyone not of my Own Deed to lead that animal by anyone who is not myself (or of my deed). However, I have now learned that despite having Lead (and Brand) enabled for my citizens on my Deed: Having a setting like this on a branded animal doesn't allow them to Lead a branded animal (although they can unhitch these animals from carts just fine): I had thought that since the Animals default to "Brand Permission of Deed", saying that Management of Animal, Leading/Riding and Equipment Management were allowed that this would allow my Citizens to interact with this animal without issue. Since after all, they had Brand Permission for the Deed. Apparently this is not correct and thus I am confused what purpose this seems to serve if it is not to say "If you can brand it, you can actively interact with it". I actually had to go retrieve a set of Bison this morning that my Deedmate had intended to use on another transport item and was in a panic trying to Discord me that they were unable to retrieve them and they were wandering off Deed. The additional "Citizens of Nydai" setting must be enabled to allow them to actually interact with the animal: Apparently this system was changed to work this way back in 2017 and I must say it has caused myself a lot of headache (and I'm sure many others as well) with not understanding exactly how Branding is supposed to work in-tandem with Deed permissions. I assumed that Branding worked no different than putting a lock on my chest or door to my structure. If I have pickup perms on my Deed but do not have Perms on my house to pickup items, my house doesn't allow picking up items. I don't have to Deny any role a permission to prevent this from happening because the idea of a house (a lock system in it's own right) automatically defaults to "no". If I have a chest with a lock on it, no one can open that chest and take items from it. Despite my deed having the pickup permission made available. So why does branding an animal to my deed not automatically lock that animal from non-deedmates? Why is branding not considered a lock in itself? Right now a branding seems no different than this: Something that says "This is mine" and/or "I made this". Which seems entirely counter-intuitive outside of the idea that Branding something over-rides someone else's "No Lead" setting so you can take your animals with you should you get disconnected, die or otherwise lose lead. So my question is: Why doesn't branding work like a lock system like everything else in the game does? (A house, a gate lock, a padlock, etc;) I've lost a few animals who've been walked off deed while branded and GM's have shrugged at me and said "You set it up that way" and went on their way, causing me to lose the animal to whoever walked off and penned/hitched it. Why doesn't branding to a Deed (because it isn't a personal lock, it's a deed lock) automatically allow Members with the setting to Lead and/or Brand automatically set (and prioritize over non-citizens) access to do these things to animals branded to their deed? Why does Ally role permission to "Lead" allow an Ally to walk around with a branded animal (even if it has Everyone - Deny) but not a Citizen with the same permission and Brand Permission? My suggestion(s): Make Branding work like a "Deed Lock" system, as it is believed entirely to be by many already. Non-Citizens cannot lead animals belonging to a Deed (branded) even if Lead Permissions of the Deed are set to allowed for their citizen role. Individual Animals would need to be set to allow Non-Citizens or Individuals to allow interaction with that particular animal. (Just like chests and houses) Citizens belonging to the Deed can lead a Deed-Branded animal at any time unless otherwise set to "Deny All" for citizens or individual user "Deny" setting. Allow leading of non-branded animals on Deeds the default behavior at any time. If it is not branded, it can be led off deed by anyone at any time. This means keep your animals behind locked gates or branded if you don't want them to be taken by others. "Use a lock" Add a new Permission to Deeds themselves that separates Lead and "Branded interactions" "Lead" can remain to allow the leading of any non-branded animals on and off the Deed Add a new Permission to the Deed itself that allows interaction with Branded animals specifically. This would make branding function a lot like the "secure action" used in Lamps and other items on Deeds that utilize the "Pickup/drop allowed" permissions (often in-tandem with Load/UnLoad settings).
  2. So I've had two horses born in the past week that haven't shown their fathers in either inspect or examine. For the first one I thought maybe it was because their father had died (I had a male from that pen die of old age and he could have been the father) but I'm sure that isn't the case with the one I had born today! The foals are unrelated, one is a female buckskin 4 speed, and the other is a male blood bay 2 draft. Born today and on the 21st respectively. I've had others born in between that show their parents as normal, so far it's just these two.
  3. So I love the AH update, I really do. (CHONKY PONEHS FOR LYFE!) But in my opinion mules could really do with some improvements! For one, and this is the most important thing for me, they really are too small. Especially when you consider their pulling power! They're stronger than 4 draft horses but are somehow less than half the size!? I'd really like to see them a bit bigger and be a size that fits their performance better. Another thing (that I don't expect to see any time soon but would be nice!) would be to have mules' colours vary according to the colour of their horse mother. ie if you had an ebony mare you could get a black mule, and so on. I attach some pictures to show what I mean both in terms of size and colour variation. Ebony mule Chestnut mules Grey mule Also, this:
  4. So today I've had at least 6 packed tiles across several pens of horses, where normally I don't see any packing at all since I put in troughs. One or two would be noticable, but six is a lot! It might be related to a movement bug reported in cahelp by Crimsonearth? I did have one of my horses follow me across some packed tiles as I was replanting them. EDIT On further inspection I have at least 10 packed tiles across several pens, and my champ rat is pacing back and forth across one tile obsessively. She either needs a dance partner or a tranquiliser.
  5. So I'm unsure if this is a bug or a feature, but I reckoned it couldn't help to report it anyway! I have a barn that my sheep go in in winter (I can't leave them all shorn outside in the snow!) and this has been the first winter they've used it. I'm just doing the shearing rounds, and I noticed this: [18:11:20] An aged fat sheep 'Celeste' eats some hay stack. Now I didn't put any hay in their troughs, but there is some on the floor above in the hay loft! Here is an image of the hay loft. And for the record, Celeste has never been up there.

  7. What the title says really! We have an almost unprecedented population of players on Harmony, all searching for livestock to keep and mobs to practice fs on. As a result, apart from high level creatures like lava spiders, hell scorpions and crocodiles, the number of animals found in the wild is extremely low. Players like me looking for livestock are having to go on huge trips to perhaps find a single cow that's been lucky enough to survive the players skilling fs. This also puts new players coming in at a disadvantage, as they'd be extremely lucky to find anything to pull their carts. I also know of some people who had a locked off deed pen broken into and all their livestock killed, presumably by someone skilling. So please, please can we have upped spawn rates on Harmony? Even if it's just for a while it would be very useful for breeders, skillers and new players. Pretty please?
  8. The day before yesterday when I logged in, I noticed that a couple of my horses no longer had brands. I brand all animals bred by me as a matter of course, so this was odd. They were venerable animals I'd branded months ago. Later I discovered that some foals had also lost their brands, and two lambs that I had branded and named had their names and in one case their brands disappear too. I've never had this happen before so I'm stumped! On the advice of the help channel in game I'm posting here. I haven't resized or dropped my deed or made any other changes. What's up?

  10. I feel that this would help to remove a good chunk of the animal-related tedium from the game, particularly for those of us who are into breeding them. None of my animals have the hunger trait, but it seems like despite keeping them alone in 1x2 stalls, the majority of my horses and bison will end up reducing their feed to dirt every day, and sometimes multiple times a day.
  11. Pretty much just what title says. Should be a moveable wooden trough that we can fill with food (and/or water). Then it should have like a XX-tile radius where livestock can eat out of it. Maybe also as part of a fence? So that you can fill it from outside by activating a special fence, a trough fence tile. (Pretty much just a fence tile that blocks movement, has the trough functions, and inventory accessable from any side.)

  13. We all take advantage (rightfully so) of the unique name identification of bred horses in this game but what about cows/bulls and bisons? I do not ask for individual names, all I ask is for SOME sort of unique identification (like a eartag that you can craft out of wood or metal where you can write something on it and attach it with say, a branding iron or some other tool (maybe a new tool as well?)) to uniquely identify them and show what is written on the tag when you examine them: This bull/cow/calf/bison was tagged and belongs to the settlement of <settlement name>. The tag reads: "message" Why? Well say you want to breed some good traited bisons: you mate an aged fat bison with an adolescent fat bison and you get a young bison as a result. As long as you have just one pair all is good as you can sepatate the pair from the offsprings. But in order for the offspring to be able to breed you need a second pair. How will you know which offspring came from which pair? Theres no way (unless you make countless pens) to prevent inbreeding once you get more livestock. Same goes for cows (although less important but why not show some love to the bowine driven cart?) and even first gen horses! It might not be very simple to implement, or it is - but it is really sad not to be able to do something as simple as tell which animal is which. My implementation suggestion (the tag) can be replaced with other ideas, but the scope remains the same. Hope you consider this, Best, Thor

  20. It was great to see so many livestock on the new Celebration server on the opening; I saw some I had never seen before on Deli such as pheasants! However, I have deeded on an island just off the mainland and I had the crafting bug and by the time I had a workaround to allow me to get an animal pen up, the livestock on my island had already been penned up by the other players that deeded there. So seeing as most animals don't swim, I am relying on new ones still spawning on the island to enable me to get them without trading. So, is there any guesses as to how long livestock are likely to still spawn for on Celebration? Is the spawn rate a server-wide thing or regional? I had a little explore round the island and some folks have already got around a dozen animals penned up so does that affect the chances of new ones spawning in the same region? Lastly, if I do an exploration trip of the island and don't find any, how long should I wait before going again? In other words, what is the spawn rate? Many thanks!
