  1. Planting catseyes on bridges prevents subsequent preparation with mortar for paving. I suggest notes be added to these pages warning that paving must be done before catseyes. In the Bridge paving paragraph and to these pages as necessary thanks
  2. It would be nice if waystones could register heritage sites and supply routing info.
  3. I don't know about you guys, but my first approach to the new highways was a real mess and now I have to spend so much time to bash and replace waystones and catseyes in the right way. I know they are so hard to bash just because they have to protect the highways; because of this I would like if they were more easy to bash at least for the one who planted them, to clean faster the mistakes
  4. I've just had my game crash and refuse to let me log on for over 4 hours. I used the find route function just to test on a newly planted waystone. I didn't go to my destination, but ran along the highway to see the yellow arrows. At the next waystone I set my find route to my own deed and turned around to go back. I didn't get far. According to another player who was online at the time, I never moved from the waystone, but I was back at my deed by the time my screen went away and gave me the connecting screen. I managed to log on when a GM responded to my support call, but I don't think the issues with find route are really fixed...
  5. Hi everyone! After a few hiccups we're pleased to see the new huge update live! There's all sorts of things, from highways, to crate racks and new fence types, so let's get to it! But first... Patch Notes Highway update We've been busy setting up all starter towns with the catseyes and waystones. They will extend into the perimeter of all starter deeds allowing you to connect them to your highways. The highway rules will continue to operate for a while, we'll give notice when we begin to phase them out and replace them with the updated ruleset to incorporate catseyes. Map dumps! As promised, we have the new map dumps to coincide with the release of the highway update! The map dumps were taken earlier in August and we're currently looking at adding a new dump type into the roster showing off highways in the next rotation! The folder of all dumps can be found here: Unstable client With todays update the unstable client is very close to launching as the stable client. While we will offer the stable one temporarily as a legacy client, it's really important you test this as soon as possible to avoid any major issues when we switch over. For info on what feedback to leave and how check out this thread here: Blossom voting The blossom starter deed design contest is now open for voting! I think all designs look awesome, and I'm keen to see how wins! check them out and submit your vote here: Battle bards! This week I was shown a little podcast by a group that covers MMO music, and this time they checked out the Wurm Online soundtrack! Morrison, Check out the podcast here: Community content This week the factional fight guys check out one of the surprise additions to this weeks update and talk about how it impacts the game for them, what's your favourite part of this update? That's it from us this week, we'll continue to monitor the update and take any action necessary over the next week. There's plenty more in the works as we've hinted at before. What is it? You'll just have to wait and see... Retrograde & the Wurm team
  6. I've been playing with the new highway system to connect my deed. I have a highway going in front of my deed, put a waystone 1 tile into my deeded property, and it still says "Unknown". Anyone know how to get it display my deed name?
  7. Hi... I have been working on this monster highway in Southern Xanadu for over a month now to link to Lormere and I finally finished it last night, it was an insane amount of work but also a lot of fun. It opens up a whole lot of wilderness and is most likely the longest continuous highway built in one go, it's also for certain the longest highway entirely paved in sandstone bricks and slabs, obviously seeing those are new. After 1\3 was done, I decided to border the road with moss instead of sand, I just thought it cool cooler for the forest parts. It's a cool ride, many cool scenic spots, places to hunt and a lot of new places to start new deeds. I plan on building a public Inn behind where the fountain is and also a short secondary road to a nearby desert, for hunting, if someone wants too cook at inn I decided to build this thing because we almost never get new players where we are here down south, it's pure luck when someone gets lost and ends up here, so trying to bring some life to our area. The tunnel part which is 207 tiles long is only 1 tile wide at the moment but I'll be completing it in the coming 2 weeks or so, but one can ride through the mountain as is. I've attached a few screenshots and a map showing where the highway is. I did a large part of the work on my own but I did get some precious help from a few players and i wish to thank them. Crysariana for cutting an insane amount of trees, without whom I'd still be at it Baloo for the help in the tunnel, mining (she hates mining ), strongwall where the tunnel opened up into an old mine and 8 hours of digging in the wilderness. Korsarul for donating 24 crates of dirt. Nacciwa for donating 29 crates of dirt. Snowtech for analyzing and some mining in tunnel. Popy for imping my tools which took some serious beating. And all of them who at times were most likely getting a bit fedup of hearing of my crazy highway over a month + period of time. Hopefully, I didn't forget anyone, let me know if I did.
  8. Magranons Scar - Highway Project website updated on 24/10/2016 and here the link to the new website: Mags Scar monthly mining event! next one is 31st December and 1st of January 2017 Starting at 5th of November 2016, we will hold a monthly scar mining event, to help with coordination for people who want to help out and those who couldn't reach me or couldn't figure out a good time to meet. it will be every first weekend of a month and I will try to be on as much as possible (I'm from gmt+3, but there might be other workers around from other timezones who know what to do). Whoever joins us can get free shovel and pickaxe imps from Raybarg and we can provide tools if necessary aswell. Every worker who joins, can take mined shards with them, for free , aswell as keep any tools that you might have gotten from us. Also we have an inn with rooms and beds(can make more if needed) and we have kitchen, forges, a mine with iron, a mailbox, wells, stables etc. Everything you need should be taken care of, while staying at the scar and you are free to contribute to anything else that's not mining aswell. oh and Pingpong, the noob, will also be there happy mining ! link to old forum topic if curious:
  9. Greetings to all my Deliverance residance. Your local highway building posting up here as a heads up. There is a highway that heads past shark lake, it squeezes down into 1 tile wide in an area I call the bowl. I have lost much skill there due to the mobs, but that is beside the point. I have plans and have come to the conclusion to cause as little disturbance to other roads there I am going to at least upgrade to two tiles wide on the north and south portion of my planned work. The east and west portion will be three tiles wide while keeping my calling card highway pattern. There may be some disruption to the flow of traffic as this will not be a project that will be done in a few days. I think i will need two months on it as it will requiring surface mining. I have marked in the yellow the portion of the road I am upgrading. The white line is the current road it self and i will be following that path. I have no intention of changing its current path, I only marked in yellow to show which portion I will be working on. I will be leveling, widening, and adding road art basically. This is located at M 20 using the community map and R 17 using the in game map. There are no other deeds near this area for I have looked in the area. If some one is intrested in helping, pleaes cntact me for the plans I have, my highways are bit of a high standard when I make them. See link for an example.
  10. I have a question for the Deli Community. I was wondering with the recent addition of new road types if everyone would be interested in coming up with a standard Major Highway type/style that can be used to assist with showing the most highly used roads in Deliverance. My intent here is to see if we could come up with an agreement to a standard major highway marking system. I know what the official ruling for marking a highway is, and am not looking to move any current roads, but am interested in seeing if we'd like to mark our roads in a specific design to help new people find their way around our lands. What I would like to see: Major Highways (north/south highway) marked with 3 lanes in a unique way that is only used for the most important roads (historical). Collaboration on a standard road design (perhaps using new road types) would just like to know if this is an idea others would like to see implemented.
  11. Hi there, I couldn't find anything in particular so I figured I'd start the ball rolling. Many of the other starter deeds have been redesigned, and Whitefay has yet to be touched. So I'm throwing my hat into the ring. I currently have an alt, that has a deed due south of whitefay, and am working on several cleanup, and public areas. I hope to even get approval at some point to lead, help plan, or participate in the remodel of whitefay iteself. Current planed phases: Public Farm Public Inn Public Orchard Public Tree Farm Highway connection to Greymead. More info will follow. If you are interested in helping or donating materials/decor. Please let me know.
  12. I have spoken with a CM and for the initial phase of the project I do not need a sign saying I am doing the work. But once I actually graduate to the phase of widening and leveling the road I will need to submit a ticket then. For now though, I have started removing hedges along a highway in the south. This is mind numbing like you would not believe. Not only does it destroy your tool to destroy just one hedge, it also takes nearly 10 minutes to destroy the one hedge. So I built a catapult and will be using that next. Thing is, I only have a few hours of time to bash after i come home from work before rolling into bed. I am asking for help in removing these hedges along this southern highway located on the Community map of N21 to N24. I have already started this and will complete it, eventually but right now the job is looking like a two month project with me doing it solo to just remove the hedges. I do not need help with widening and leveling the highway it self as I have done plenty of these and enjoy the road making process. A bit of history on this road. This sucker was placed here even before I had joined the server back in November of 2011. So before that I can not say who built it. What I can say is that it was done rather hastily. It was built at two lanes wide and that was about it. No leveling of any kind. It was as if the guy cut the trees, packed the dirt and then put cobble stone down. So the center tiles dips and peaks along the run. About two years ago a fresh spawn put a deed up down on the coast and decided to put maple trees along the sides of the road. No issue there. This person then progressed to lining the sides of the road with maple hedges. All though poorly executed, his reasoning was to keep the hostile critters off the road for safe passage. He used hedges because he didn't have the skill to make a fence that would last longer then a few months off deed. The road was never leveled nor was it improved upon. The execution of the hedging that was practiced only funneled the critters onto the highway. He didn't fully complete it either before leaving the game. Feel free to jump right in and start bashing, hacking, or pummeling from a distance. Just be careful of the "Bowl" that is shark lake. The highway that goes north and south along the east side of the lake has a low elevation at the center of the lake and is high on the ends. Many people die here because they run out of stamina and can't get away from the mobs. Even wagons don't go fast enough before the trolls converge on you and bash you to death. I have died here plenty of times my self. I have been using this route a bit often as of late so the odds are good you will see a bunch of dead animals along the road in this part. Also it is only one lane wide... which is a project for later date.

  15. Greetings Wurmians! ~It's been two years already that we are working on Magranon's Scar and for that occasion we made a major update on the main post, here lets have it!--------------------------------- What is Magranon's Scar? Magranon's Scar is one of the first wonder dedicated to a deity. Yes, in itself an highway isn't really a wonder but when it is made by true believers of Magranon, it becomes alive! Entering by a massive gate (Front & Back), you are on a large highway cut deep into the shoulder of a massive crater, you are looking on your right... then on your left... and all you see is lava coming out of the walls and you have to walk on an unsafe path where creatures are lurking in the shadow of the pouring molten lava, waiting to devour the souls of the unprepared fools. Magranon, God of mountain and fire, creator of lava creatures, has called upon its most dedicated followers to crack open that mountain and let the elements of fire be the proving ground of the braves. Within its entrails, the Inn "The Sleeping Hellhound" will be visited and praised by pilgrims from everywhere in the Freedom Isles. --------------------------------- Who can be a worker on such project? Anyone, we have generic surface mining for low and high skilled miners, digging for average shovel lovers, cutting trees, cleaning up the materials around, cooking, fixing, moral support... Responsibles of the Project: Farelle Trusted workers if no responsibles on site: Sidras Raybarg Merfin Workers who participated so far: TheMadDoctor TheMadPriest Sidthar Wumpsi Samtep Pellandria Xaeo Rixk Rtcok Webleyvickers Translucent Animar Walex MommaTsslave Hughmongus Magnir Nunatak GodZoor AngelGhost Quimgatilhos Claies Rtcok Shelton Ekib RoseDragon DMonkey Parashurama Jenks JProKash Forras Shads Boobaby Rockhopper Tyrgrim Livelong Reesex VioletEclipse Whippy SirFluffy Special Thanks Milosanx (video)2013 --------------------------------- Why doing it? Everyone has their own reasons, some are compelled by Magranon, some are here for the skills, some for the fame, some out of curiosity, others for fun... But one thing is sure, every help will be rewarded to its merit. Every little help will be displayed in the form of a statue to the name of the worker in one of the two gate-museum at the entrance on each sides of the highway. The most dedicated workers will have a colossus at their name aligned at point B against the cliff, just under the breath-taking view of "The Sleeping Hellhound". --------------------------------- Rules Like everything, we like to keep that place into order, some rules are establish so it doesn't plunge into an oblivion of chaos. #1: If you are not sure of what you are doing, ask someone who knows (mainly Farelle).#2: Talk with Farelle to have access to the Working Station (beds, oven, forge, working tools, horse pen,...).#3: Do not build anything that is not planned on the project along the highway (deeds, houses, guard towers,...).#4: Do not destroy the work of others if any around. (ex.: destroying fences at the station,...).#5: Do not mine any tunnels beside or under the highway.#6: Do not steal what is not yours. (ex.: horse in fenced area, named-tools in working station,...)#7: Do not plant any signs nor lamps that can't be removed by the responsibles of the site (Farelle).#8: Visit this topic on a regular basis for further updates on the progress made and what is to be done.#9: Still not sure of something... review rules #1 through #8 or ask away in this post. -You don't have a tool or you are here for the skill grind? We have some speedy and/or skilling pickaxes available.-Usually there is always meals/water at different strategic points on the working sites, if not we have all the necessary to make more at the station.-There should be enough beds to accommodate the workers, if not we can make more. --------------------------------- This Project is separated into Segments of road from A to F Green: Things we are working on at the momentOrange: Things we need done but lack of workers/timeRed: Things that requires the orange things to be completed in order to continue A: Gate (4 flat tiles deep needed) Milestones: 0% of the gate-museum complete A-B: 153 tiles long at 20 slope each (up) Milestones: 100% speedramp to access main working area ( B ) (view) 0% of the buffer completed 1% of the segment completed B: Buffered corner, Colossi, Inn(The Sleeping Hellhound) and a ramp to it Milestones: 50% of the buffer completed (see the 360° view and/or the Picture Gallery) 100% of the Inn platform completed (view (jan'14) / View (mar'14)) 100% of the Inn completed (Groundfloor / 1st Floor / 2nd Floor / 3rd Floor) 60% of the ramp to access the Inn completed 0% of the colossi completed B-C: 55 diagonal tiles long at 20/20 slope each (up) (might be revised for 14/14 and moved 3-4 tiles W-NW) Milestones: 50% of the segment exposed (Sideview & Topview) 10% of the buffer completed 5% of the segment completed C: Pie shaped flat corner Milestones: 50% of the point exposed 1% of the point completed C-D: -C to mid-C (sloping up) -mid-C: Magranon's Inner Sanctuary -mid-C to D (sloping down) Milestones: 100% of the path walk-able 25% of the segment exposed 10% of the segment completed 0% of the inner sanctuary completed D: Pie shaped flat corner Milestones: 10% of the point exposed 1% of the point completed D-E: xx diagonal tiles long at 20/20 slope each (down) (might be revised for 14/14) Milestones: 100% of the path walk-able 25% of the segment exposed 5% of the segment completed E: Flat (pie shaped?), art? 16. Project 1: Crystal Canal June 2nd 2015 - July 5th 2015 The time has come for a new project. This project has been green lit by the deed owners involved, and they seem very excited to move forward with production! This current project is a bridge spanning across Crystal Canal. Thank you to everyone who contributed the materials below! 1 Dioptra1 High Mason - 94 skill2 Builders - 40+ masonry4000 Dirt2900 Marble Bricks2000 Mortar800 Rock ShardsWe'll keep you updated on the progress of this project and post pictures when available. If you're interested in helping, please do comment, and we thank you ahead of time for your contribution! Thank you Broken, Joykill, Kraten and Jberg for your help and assistance with this project!
  17. We need a clarification that a highway bridge can be single tile wide and not necessarily two tile wide. The material cost is already huge for a single tile wide and should be enough for normal travel. If every highway bridge has to be two tile wide then please make two tiles less painful to build.
  18. I'd like to suggest to change the Highway Rule. As it is: As it is now we have the options to sand the adjacent tiles of a road or to make a road two tiles wide to mark them as a highway. In my opinion both aren't good solutions when it comes to building highways in steep terrain. The sanded tiles look pretty horrible when the tiles left and right of the road are very steep. Plus it just doesn't fit the beauty of the surrounding environment very often. The two-tile wide roads look pretty good but when building a road along a steep mountain for example this means tons of extra dirt and time to finish a project. I know some will tell me that Wurm is a tough game to play and I should deal with it but let's be honest... Someone who's building a 1k or 2k tile long road or longer does know that Wurm takes work and time but that doesn't mean it should be unneccesarily hard and or discouraging. What I suggest: So my suggestions are to change curbs to only need one rock shard (instead of six (which is madness compared to one stone brick for the road anyway)) and add using curbs as a definition for highways.
  19. You can work your way around it, but someone did a number on the highway there, right outside Esteron. Not sure if GMs are approving, but I don't see "men at work" signs posted. Anyone familiar with the area know what the deal is?
  20. I think it would be awesome if when getting a highway completed, we could have GMs give their approval, Create a highway easement (special highway GM deed) that is only the width of the highway (included 1 tile of sand on either side, if built that way) and the full length of the highway. - This GM highway deed could be deeded over by a player deed, but the player can't build on or teraform the highway, without getting prior approval from the GM, - When GM approval for modification is given, they simply drop "GM" construction markers marking a start point and end point, showing the player exactly how much highway that can modify, based on a preapproved plan. - There would be a time limit for modifications. Something short, like 1 week. Player would be responsible for installing a detour, with signs, prior to starting highway mods. - Tunnels and Cave Canals would not collapse, if fully reinfored and GM protection is enabled. - Players would not be able to mine in the protected tunnel "The rock is too hard here". When 3d mining comes out. mining over/above the tunnel would be fine. - In addition, ALL bridges on these GM protected highways would suffer no decay. This should certainly work in Freedom and eliminate quite a few issues with highways. PvP servers may not be a good place for a system like this.

  22. COMPLETED! Will update with pictures of park when completed! I noticed, when I settled Skyhold Keep, that it was extremely difficult to navigate the east side of Bear Lake. I thought it would be great to have a Highway to run north/south there. So became the Marble Highway! 23. Hello, I want to plan an highway from x:28 y:4 to x:26 y:17 , because the area is too much WILD and dangerous here the example What do you think? Someone want to help me?
  24. Today, on behalf of the Northmere Alliance, I built a highway connection across the tundra, joining the Northeastern highway networks to those running north from Tap Dance. As a result, there is finally a continuous highway system connecting the lands east of the Northmere, as well as the northern deserts, to Tap Dance. I'm sensitive to the fragile nature of the tundra, and took care not to destroy more tiles than necessary during this process. Hopefully a completed and well designed highway grid will discourage future slipshod road construction in the area, and allow us to get some Vynora Priests out there and replace some of the tundra grass. No one deserves to get lost and die for lack of good roads. A couple of generous souls have offered me small tokens of gratitude, but I ask instead for all soldiers and hunters who use these highways to please be generous and kind to any on these roads who are weaker than they, or in need of help. How the new tundra highway connection fits into the existing highway grids of the NE is shown here: /salute.
  25. Hello, Celebration. On behalf of the of the (recently renamed) Northmere alliance, I am pleased to announce the creation of a highway leading from the western shores of The Northmere (the large inland northern lake) to the eastern coast, where it terminates near the "East Outpost" settlement. This road begins south of Wealdin Anchorage and extends through what we call the Spiderwood (massive birch forest in to the East of Mount New Hope, in the NE part of the map), opening up the area, with its vast mineral and timber resources, to further settlement. There is still one short leg of the highway that needs leveling and re-planing, but overall it is complete and passable via drawn carts. Additionally, the Storrfjall tunnel is now complete, allowing land passage over the mountain range north of Mount New Hope. The tunnel begins on the Northeastern Highway at Storrfjall and extends north, over the mountain passes and toward the northern deserts. The entire tunnel is on deed, and protected by templars. Prior to the completion of these projects, it was not possible for settlers from Tapdance to bring large carts north of Mount New Hope without unhitching and pushing them bodily up the mountain face, and the prevalence of creatures in the Spiderwood led to it becoming a boneyard for wave upon wave of would-be settlers. We saw many many people turn back and head south when they realized they'd hit the end of the proverbial road. These two projects should allow for a smoother flow of traffic into and through the northeast. Special thanks go out to Balack for his material support and tireless efforts during the Spiderwood road construction sprint, as well as to Rekker for engineering the northern tunnel through his deed, and especially to Angelus for contributing backbreaking labor on both projects. Also, shout outs to Crick, Xallo, Frogster, Mihai, and others for helping with the necessary surface mining and tunneling on Rekker's tunnel. We have plans to connect our highway system more formally to the road networks near TD, but will wait to discuss those plans until the project is complete. Be of good cheer.
