  1. Greetings fellow Wurmians! The Bifrost/Asgard Alliance is extremely pleased to announce the opening of the Silverfish Canal and Tunnel System. This canal and tunnel system is a shortcut, that connects the western side of Harmony to Harmony Bay, and allows for ships of all sizes to sail right into Harmony Bay without having to go all the way south or north.   2. Hey there! I'm Aerthok of Tavernia over at [875,2118] and we'd like to talk highways! We've been laying down the highway backbone around us in collaboration with our neighbours, as I'm sure a lot of you are doing, and we're now looking to pave the way to Sonata and the settlements along the way. To ensure we're all connected, and don't end up with a load of highways all running the same way but never actually connecting, we'd like to get everyone sharing their local highway plans so we can all coordinate joining routes. Here's our local highway work, including work by @NekojinEastwards from Azure Dreams. You can see we're situated in a natural crossroads of sorts, so we've run with that to create an East <-> West and North <-> South main highway. If you live along that route, we'd like to see your highway plans so we can coordinate the connections as we make our way towards Sonata! Let's use this thread to share plans and coordinate connections to other Settlements and Sonata/Encore!   3. Hello all! As some of you know from Harmony Freedom chat we are working on a boat tunnel to connect Heartland to the bay, so people can pick up new users directly without any fuss! We are also trying to pretty up the area a bit, we will be dredging the lake up, building the shores up again. We started replanting trees to rebuild the forests. Most work is happening on the weekends, feel free to stop and look - or stop by on the weekends and lend a hand!
  4. Hey all! So I discovered that this lovely strip of highway has yet to be lit up. I will be lighting up the section my deed overlaps but would love to maybe see if anyone wanted to help light the rest of the highway! I roughly drew where the highway is below. It is shorter so we could get this done fairly quick.
  5. I was just wondering if we could get a pylon, or pillar or shrine re-skin as a giant Christmas tree (or other giant seasonal items). It would be a fun community event. Maybe for Christmas 2021? They would be fun missions to do just before Christmas as well. Re-skins for other season related items and even different religions might be fun as well. Even seasonal colossus skins would be interesting. Thoughts?
  6. Hiya everyone! I am currently in the planning stages of making Varrock, and, I am curious if anyone would like to help with the planning, building, terraforming or decorating of the city! I am pretty low on silver so I will be providing a few options when it comes to rewards/payment for helping. Maybe in a few months I will get the silver required to properly compensate people on the work and items provided. First, if you want to become a permanent resident of the town while helping you will have a choise on what building you would like based on your skills pertaining to the building being taken such as a cook taking up a house and making it a bakery or a restaurant. A few off limits buildings would be the guild halls, museum, bars(they will only be for temp residents), the palace and banks. As these will be public locations for Skilling, storage and the museum will be used to display all the archeology items possible. Second, If you want to be temp, you can take up residence in the inn when it is finished and provided with material gains while working on the deed. Third, if you just wish to provide items, light help or other work/things. You will be given other items in return or possible labor from me. Just message me on the forums, in game or on discord (Elisiuma) with how you want to help and the options provided or if you just want to help without compensation you can just drop by and help ^.^ once I get a bit more of deed planner done I will post the current plans of how the deed should look upon completion. And in conclusion.... I know people will be slapping the whole "you know this will take time riiight" I know I plan on this being a long time endeavour! Also, if you feel I left something out of this that would be good info to have in just message me!
  7. After preparing for a bit - and still not well enough, I have to admit - I have begun upgrading the highway between Greymead and Whitefay. The initial plan was to plant catseyes all the way to the tunnel, then upgrade the tunnel entrances as well as the floors inside, before continuing planting catseyes again. But as with all plans, this one didn't didn't survive either, the moment I encountered the enemy. Or in my case, an inactive deed with its perimeter over the highway. Since you can't plant catseyes if you don't have the dropping / planting rights at other deeds and thus also not in the perimeter, I decided to leave the catseyes for what they were and instead move on to the tunnel. Which I already knew would be a much greater challenge as just upgrading an old highway to the new system. And it was indeed a challenge. As it turned out, several tiles inside that tunnel had been mined out, meaning that to level the floor I had to use concrete, mine it out or do both. Turned out the latter was the best option, although it also depleted my stock of concrete, meaning at some point I need to return with a new supply to increase some tiles close to the western entrance to a "normal" level. However, with most of the floors mined out at the same level, the inside of the tunnel now looks a lot better. Next stage of the project was to widen the entrance at the East side; simply because it was the one I was close too, wich meant dropping a deed to remove the reinforcements, digging down the road to get to the rockface because the border wasn't flat, widening the entrance and finally followed by dropping all dirt and pave a single tile again to make all look as it should be. Currently I'm mining out the ceilings of the eastern side of the tunnel, to make that look better compared to the flat part which has high ceilings due to the lowered tiles. After that I'm going to rework the current western entrance, or add a new entrance now an old deed blocking that has gone. I'll look at that as soon as I'm up to it. As for the request: Just in case the owners of the deeds along the highway between Greymead and Whitefay (mapgrids I-18/20 and J-20) are reading this; please grant me the permissions to drop / plant items at your deed, so I can continue the construction of the highway. In case you don't want the highway, let me know, so I can bypass your perimeter. Of course, those who want to help are welcome to do so. Since I was unable to plant catseyes at some point when coming from Greymead - for now - starting to plant catseyes from Whitefay towards Greymead is the best option. And finally, some pictures. It has taken some time, but after about 18 monts, tonnes of dirt, lots of mining, some surface mining, lots of patience and an aweful lot of help, the connection between Weird Wonders to the Ageless Lake Tunnel Entrance deeds is made last night. The entire project isn't finished yet, as it still needs loads of dirt to be dropped to get a better traversable road; however it is now possible to travel from Cold Water Harbour in the north to Whitefay and most other starting towns. Of course, I couldn't have done all of this alone, so I'd like to thank some people for helping me: - Rusk and his alts: for mining a large tunnel through the mountains, for surface mining, dirt casting and dropping and repairing an old highway; - Dredbanger: for dirt donations, (surface-) mining, paving and early road construction - Flubb and his alts: for mining the first part of the tunnel and dirt donations - Alikin: for an awful lot of donated dirt, as well as some mining and paving. - Trooperau: for donating locks for strongwalling the tunnel - Ajala and Soleca: for donating veggies for strongwalling the tunnel, and dirtcasting - Roseah: for helping me digging up over 3K of dirt at my new deed - and of course to all of you who had faith in me I'd get that project finished. And now I think it's time to do something easier for a change. Like building a knarr or so. Thorin PS: as soon as I've figured out how to add screenies directly from my computer, I'll add them.
  9. So I was wandering around Independence the other day and I noticed that the public mine near Freedom Market is an absolute mess. Within one tile of the entrance is a pit so steep your character actually never stops bouncing at the bottom; about two tiles past there is another deep trench. That mine is probably the first mine most new players see on our server; do we really want something that messy to be their first experience on Indie? Well, I don't. Trooperau and Blahsonson both stopped by yesterday while I was exploring the full mine to see just how much damage there was, and they both thought it was worth some effort. It is my hope that we can come together and perhaps use the new(ish) reinforced floors to prevent this kind of obvious griefing from happening again. Some images of the entrance zone. My character is named Kikriana; I will be devoting as much time as I can to this project. I may be a new character (longtime player), but I can at least mine out walls as well as anyone else. List of materials we will probably need: Massive amounts of concrete Lots of reinforcing beams Potentially some priests to cast Strongwall where things are just too screwy for any amount of the previous two materials to be of any use List of more-or-less-required professions: Smiths Carpenters Masons Alchemists (to make lye for concrete) Miners by the hundreds List (lol) of optional professions: Chef Medic Warriors to stave off cave bugs and trolls from the troll mound near Freedom Market Possible sub-project, since we'll have so many people in the right area: Bash that freaking troll mound so it stops destroying new players before they can learn to love Wurm Edit 2 because I am one seriously scatterbrained idiot: Please state what time you are usually online so we can schedule a meeting to plan the repairs! I am usually online between 9:00 AM and 2:00 AM the next morning, Pacific time (GMT -8); I can log in at other times if needed. If I've forgotten anything else, please let me know! Edit 3 (thank you again Atazs): Project is now underway! We have moved every last large chest, forge, and BSB to the entrance, removed all the statues (by wagon, yay!), and are already collapsing tiles deep in the mine. We have collapsed the tunnel-to-China pit just to the left of the entrance for safety reasons (and because falling in was getting annoying), and are continuing to work on closing down the old parts of the mine that honestly should probably never have existed in the first place. I probably forgot something again...Atazs? Update 5-13-2014: Raamkozijn has been hard at work collapsing tiles in the back of the mine. We've replanted some lamps inside the mine to provide a small measure of safety against mob spawns, but the mine is still closed to most players (unless you really really need ore or FS). We have been fortunate thus far in that no mobs have spawned inside the mine since we started out. Once we have finished collapsing the current mine, we will need many miners to quickly open up the new public mine "structure," and then comes the reinforcing. Update 5-16-2014: Raam's at it again! We're almost done closing the far reaches of the mine, and will soon begin the collapsing of the main cavern; once that's done, we'll, begin mining out the new tunnel mine. I'll update this post again as soon as that happens, as we could use as many miners as are available. We do have a plan for the mine, and if Raam approves, I'll post a link to it here. Update 5-21-2014: Collapsing is either finished or almost finished (I'm waiting on my client to finish updating)! We're probably going to start doing the mining more or less right away, so all those of you who volunteered, now's your time! Bring carts or wagons if you've got 'em, as we're going to try to remove the shards as we go. No sense in cleaning up the mine only to leave massive rock shard piles behind! Update 5-22-2014 12:00 AM Pacific time (GMT-8): 'Nuff said. Update 5-22-2014 3:00 AM Pacific time (GMT-8): We have completed the mining out of the new public mine. Since it's a broadcast and not a discussion that's a problem. Thanks. The Alt Army. Hello, I'd like to announce the first of what hopefully will be a new and successful Serenity Campaign. It borrows the central idea from another game but which works just as well in Wurm. It's called the Alt Army. Basically, what the idea allows is for us on JKH to both have alot if not most of the benefits associated from living together in a single mega deed. and All the Benefits of living alone or in small groups and villages scattered across the map. It also removes the liability in terms of money and defence of the mega deed and removes the most of the Organizational barriers that the scatter defence has. How this works Everyone creates a new alt with the name of their main character and the words alt or army or JKHA or the like as the new alts Name. We will then schedule some dates and times for people to hop on their army alt and do whatever project/task is to be done. the first project (conviently) that we'll use to set up and work the kinks out of the program is in StrongBox where your alt will spawn. The project is simple and should allow us it get everything set up and grouped while at the same time performing a public service project that benefits everyone. We're going to clear cut (after we've picked the sprouts and fruits if applicable) the SB perimeter. All the Bushes and Apple trees need to go. All of them. Later on we will construct small public enclosures with all of the bush and tree types individually in their own enclosures to allow everyone to access the sprouts and fruits as well as having the entire Plant ecosystem in one place. (Oaks will be locked and the sprouts given away to army members due to their scarcity) After the opening project is done in a few days and we've got a good majority of the active people enrolled we will be moving together as a group around the server (obviously in chunks since not everyone is online at the exact same time) Performing projects both for the Public such as Tower construction, canals/terraforming and then alternating to a project done for a specific deed or undeeded group that is in and active in the Army as the reward for participating in the Alt army beyond the fun, doing good works as well as meeting and working with all the people on Serenity you perhaps see in K-Chat or elsewhere but live on the other side of the map from. The biggest reward of this project is the Central organization it will allow us and that we in JKH have struggled with. Without losing the unbound and open nature that JKH is unmatched in. This is a Casual, Part time, in people spare time type project. It allows everyone to work and help and interact in one place on one thing while still keeping their own stuff, and deeds and projects and such across that map. So what you need to do is simple 1. Make an alt with your main's name and JKHA or Army or alt or the like. (sadly i'd say use the exact same thing after the mains name but i know that trolls would quickly snap up real JKH players army names and prevent the actual resident from using it.) 2. Spawn in Strongbox and follow the instructions from there. You alt will be joining the deed called "Serenity Alt Army put your alt in" which is inside the walls of the former fighting academy. this will allow us to group together for easy communication, boat and transportation rights, ally deed suicide spawning and general grouping. but it won't be an actual deed other then that. you'll also get a sickle. Message me, I'll be in StrongBox to enroll you in the Army. 3. Start Chopping down trees and bushes in the large SB perimeter as well as meet all your new fellow alt Army members. Be sure to check and grab and sprouts or fruits before chopping for replanting both here and else where should anyone want Grape, Lavender, Apple or Oleander sprouts. This is just the first of hopefully many such projects and adventures we will be having, Together. PVP To clear up any confusion this project is not to build an "Army" in the military unit sense. Think of it like the Army Corps of Engineers done risk free with alts that have nothing to lose if you die or are killed. At the very least it will allow some easily gathered group PvP for those online at the time. since everyone will have an alt in the same place even if their mains live on opposite sides of the map.
