1. I'm using the Linux client, running Ubuntu 22.04, and my chat and any menu search bars or text entry bars (e.g. storage transfer amount) fills with "w" after I've been moving forward in game. The text box or chat continues to fill with w, for many minutes after I've stopped moving, making chat or most menu text entry completely impossible. Deleting the "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" just results in more w's filling the text entry. My keyboard key is not sticking, and this does not happen when using any other program on my machine.
2. I'm having trouble starting the Steam launcher on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04), which I did not have on another computer running Ubuntu 19.04 (or maybe it's 19.10). The little splash logo shows up for half a second, then goes away for several seconds, only to show up again right before a segmentation fault. I tried reinstalling Wurm and still get the issue. I also tried setting the Prime profile in Nvidia X server settings to: 1) "Performance mode" 2) "On demand" with "NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia" added in the Steam launch options The issue is the same with any of them. The computer is a new MSI laptop with an Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card (switchable graphics). It does have very little RAM at the moment (8Gb), since the store was out of fitting RAM this morning. Wurm worked fine on my old laptop (integrated Intel graphics >10 years old) and on my desktop (Nvidia GTX 750 Ti). Added info: The Wurm Online Steam install folder contains the following: gamedata/packs/ : graphics.jar pmk.jar sound.jar linux64/runtime/ : bin lib main plugin folders, plus a few text files about copyrights and licences. WurmLauncher executable Verifying integrity of game files on Steam confirms it's all ok. I also tested Wurm Unlimited and it works fine, both the launcher and the game. Has anyone else had this kind of problem on Linux or does someone know how to find the core dump/logs for Steam Wurm online, so I can find out more?
3. I am having terrible lag most of the time, even up to 5 minutes. I don't think it is the internet connection because ping to the server is okay. I am using WurmLauncher from the tar file. I found something with the memory that may be the issue, pasting from the terminal here === System information === Executing from /home/USERNAME/wurm-launcher/ Operating system: Linux (arch: amd64, version: 5.4.0-58-generic) Java version: 1.8.0_211 (Oracle Corporation) <http://java.oracle.com/> Jvm version: 25.211-b12 (Oracle Corporation) [Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM] Available CPUs: 16 Max memory: 3984MB Max memory in my system is not 4GB it is 16GB. How can I change this, or is this not the case maybe. Should I add some more logs?
4. i updated the game, well, technically speaking, i started the game and steam updated it. i can log in fine, but i cant patch the mods. for some reason it seems it cant find the java path? everything is still there. like i said i can log in fine without mods. Please help...
5. Hi, just want to report 3 bugs. 1st bug: that's how my launcher looks (the carbon fiber texture is my desktop background image): 2nd bug: the client keeps disconnecting me every 20 minutes. Error message in the client console: "Connection reset by host." 3rd bug: lanterns are flickering on and off in a cave if there are not in the field of view. That means you are either looking into darkness or blinded by a bright light. Regards Davidius PS: the shadows look awesome
6. As a new player, I found it very fast to get online in Wurm. Here is a step by step guide to installation. This guide should also work for 12.04LTS, and other versions that have the Software Center. Open Software Center. In search bar, type "icedtea" (without quotes). Click on OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime, then click Install. Wait for installation to complete. You may have to type your sudo password. Click on IcedTea Java Web Start, then click Install. Wait for Installation to complete. You may have to type your sudo password. Click on IcedTea Web Control Panel, then click Install. Wait for Installation to complete. You may have to type your sudo password. After these 3 items have been installed, download the wurm client from the website. Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the wurmclient.jnlp file. Right click the wurmclient.jnlp file and select "Open with IcedTea Java Web Start" This will launch the installer and download the game. It will offer to create a desktop icon. If you do not create the icon, you will need to create one yourself, or start the game from the terminal with the command: javaws "/home/YOURLOGINNAMEHERE/.icedtea/cache/0/http/www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp" You can also always right click the wurmclient.jnlp and click "Open with IcedTea Java Web Start" at any time to launch the game. Multiple Client Tips: Let one client get fully logged into the game before attempting to launch a 2nd client. Close one client at a time, and wait 10-20 seconds before closing the next. Troubleshooting: Occasionally the Java data will become corrupted due to accidentally launching more than 1 client at at the same time (instead of waiting for one to finish loading before starting the 2nd) or closing multiple clients too fast one after another. If you find yourself being stuck at the IcedTea splash screen, open your task manager or System Monitor (depending on your Desktop Environment) and kill any processes labeled "Javaws". Next, you will want to open your home folder, press CTRL+H to show hidden files, and delete the .icedtea and .java folders. Then, re-download the client from the website, and re-install. As long as you stick with the default install location during the install, all your character data, and window positions will be saved. If you have any other issues, feel free to post here! These instructions may also work for Debian, Mint, and other distros that use Aptitude, but you would have to find instructions to install the 3 IcedTea packages for your distro.

10. Really wondering how many linux/ubuntu users there are out there. But, also trying to judge if an updated install guide for linux and wurm on linux would have a community. For those wanting to dig there are a couple good docs on the web as well as posts on forums. Just would like to make it as easy as possible for users to connect from a non-windows or mac OS.
11. Note: This may also work on other flavors of Linux, The reason Wurm doesn`t work out of the box with most of the newer linux versions is that Wurm needs Oracle Sun java and OSJ pulled the license for auto include in Linux. Linux thus uses OpenJDK and Wurm doesn`t like it. Copied from http://www.ubuntugee...untu-12-04.html So 1st we need to remove Openjdk. Press Ctrl+Alt+T to open a Terminal. and Type in sudo apt-get purge openjdk Then we need to add OSJ to the application repository sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java Then update the application repository (Takes a small while) sudo apt-get update and then Install OSJ sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer To test just go to java in the Dashboard and check that it opens I just typed in javaws -viewer in the console to test. Wurm works now. (No reboot needed)
