  1. I downloaded the WurmLauncher.tar.gz from the Wurm Online website Play link and extracted it. I installed it in the /home/user/wurm directory and it created its own folder: wurm-launcher When I ran it from a text file on the desktop with a path to the right place - absolutely nothing happened except a pop up saying there was an error opening the file! When I tried to run it in the console using the ./ command I got the following error: /WurmLauncher error while loading shared libraries: libpng16.so.16: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory The solution was to install what was missing (it was never installed) sudo apt-get install libpng16-16 Running the WurmLauncher either from the console or the desktop text file now works fine. All the files have been correctly added to the wurm-launcher directory, and Wurm opens. I am so new to Mint, I thought I would share this in case anyone else finds their WurmLauncher does nothing and sits there in silence.
  2. How do I check what Server version I am up to on my Linux server? I installed from these instructions https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Server_administration_(Wurm_Unlimited) and updated via steamcmd.sh result == Steam>app_update 402370 Success! App '402370' already up to date. the client says incompatible communication protocol client version 1.8.0.3 no beta enabled Solution by Explora On 1/11/2019 at 1:31 AM, Explora said: the version number is in file \\path\to\steamapps\common\Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server\common.jar\META-INF\

  4. I was told by the client crash window to post my logs here and maybe someone can help? I can't even get into the game. I am running the latest Linux Mint with an i7, 16gigs of ram, geforce 1070. Thanks for any help.
  5. Hi - Please assist with these 2 queries: 1. CPU Temp rising on higher Wurm Online settings When using lowest settings, CPU temp remains at 32-35C, when using higher settings, within a couple of minutes, the CPU temp rises to over 66C. CPU has a dual fan water cooling unit. Mobo: ASUSTeK model: ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING Hexa core AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core (12) Radeon RX 580 Series (AMD POLARIS10) GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 17.2.8 Network Card: Intel I211 Gigabit Network Connection ID-1: /dev/sda model: ST2000DX002 size: 2000.4GB Memory: 7114.7/16040.0MB (4x DIMMs) Test Example: 2x Wurm characters on lowest settings + Shroud of the Avatar on highest settings (released on Tuesday) temp remained in the 40-48C range. To have reasonably good settings without the overheating, please advise what settings can be changed to fix this? Please be very specific in your recommendations, as I am not a techie, (altho my son is). 2. Testing preview client Java and Linux As the latest Java 8 161 has a known problem of high CPU usage - see: https://github.com/chatty/chatty/issues/227 - is the new Preview Client **fully** compatible with jre1.8.0_151 (as it is the 2nd latest Java version)? https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/release_dates.xml And are all the major Linux issues with the Preview Client now resolved? Using Linux 16.04 Ubuntu. Thanks very much, in advance and in hope. Baloo
  6. Linux users heads up: After this patch I could not load wurmclient or wurmclient_lowmem on machine running Linux Mint. Got a red box. Error log said the rain system was preventing the game from loading. Turned off GLSL and game loads without problem.
  7. I have run a server on my ubuntu vps in headless mode. the server can be logged in and be seen at steam server list. but i didn't found the arguments about skill gain config. can i conf it in headless mode?
  8. So I came accross a couple of issues when rebuilding the database on Linux. 1. And the most annoying, is that the file format was set to windows only line formatting ... so when you executed the rebuild-dbs file, it just refused to run because of line formatting. Using an app called dos2unix i converted the line formatting, which solved this problem. 2. sqlite3.exe exist ... good job, but what about sqlite3 .... you know, for Linux/Unix types ... sigh -_-... so yea I downloaded a copy of that too. That solved all the database rebuild issues. See link for a download of the new rebuilt-dbs script [0] (with proper line formatting) and a copy of the sqlite3 executable for Linux ... if you don't trust me, just delete the sqlite3 executable, and snag a copy from here [1] that's all I did anyway, but I would be leery of adding executable's to my servers, so ... yea to each their own. 10. Alright, so I decided to try out this game and as I finally loaded into the world, I was met with solid ground. Then randomly, the ground turned transparent and my game lags because of it. I thought I somehow clipped through the ground so I did /suicide but that didn't work as it brought me to opaque ground which randomly turned to transparent. Note: I can see the parts of the map that all the sprites are blocking. 12. When installing the server it seems like the files are not completely downloaded or installed properly. Was working on Ubuntu 16.04 before the 1.3 update and if i update from a previous version it works like intended. I get the databases stored in a folder called dist, And a properties file for a program called flyway that says its for db migration. If i try running the server after copying the databases folder over to the main directory with WurmServerLauncher i get this

  14. Hi, just want to report 3 bugs. 1st bug: that's how my launcher looks (the carbon fiber texture is my desktop background image): 2nd bug: the client keeps disconnecting me every 20 minutes. Error message in the client console: "Connection reset by host." 3rd bug: lanterns are flickering on and off in a cave if there are not in the field of view. That means you are either looking into darkness or blinded by a bright light. Regards Davidius PS: the shadows look awesome
  15. I'm trying to add another Wurm Unlmited instance running on the same host as my primary instance. I've went through the documented steps and hacked my way through them as most of them are aimed at people using the GUI. The problem I am experiencing is that I can still bring up my main instance just fine but my new server seems to be trying to capture the ports that the main instance is using, even though they have been changed in my servers table for that server. 17. I am on Linux Mint, and used the Map Generator 2.8 to make a map, copied the relevent files to the new copy of Creative and changed the sql insert files and am now having trouble rebuilding the database. I run from terminal rebuild-dbs and it has no idea what that command is (yes, I am in the folder). I try ./rebuild-dbs and same issue. Try and run the rebuild-dbs.bat and get the following errors: ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 1: @ECHO: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 2: ECHO: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 3: ECHO: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 4: ECHO: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 5: ECHO: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 6: $'\r': command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 7: $'SETLOCAL\r': command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 8: SET: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 9: SET: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 10: SET: command not found ./rebuild-dbs.bat: line 11: syntax error near unexpected token `(' '/rebuild-dbs.bat: line 11: `FOR %%G IN (%*) DO ( So...what do I do? Do I have to install MySQL?
  18. Hello, I'm running fedora 23 and I haven't managed to play wurm unlimited... When I try to connect to a server, the game just crashes And If I try to set up my own server the server crashes on startup and nothing shows up in lan...
  19. I was playing in Wurm unlimited and noticed my system clock was 9pm instead of 7pm, so I changed system clock with Linux command "sudo hwclock --systohc" and then the game crashed and said that I have to send this to forums and describe what happened. So I did so. Also I have noticed that when I start client log it spams a lot of "Update server list".
  20. I do this: [localhostWurmLauncher]$ ./WurmLauncher I get this: Starting: /home/user/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Wurm Unlimited/WurmLauncher Args: 1 Unable to find jvm.dll at specified location. 21. In the headless server, you can enter 'shutdown' to tell the server to go down, but it doesn't seem you can tell it how long to wait or have it send a message to the event tab as you can with the gui. Has anyone managed to get around this or figured out how to get it to function? Thanks! -Llurendt
  22. just updated Java to version 8 update 66 (latest and current version of Java for my system) and Wurm no longer will run on my system - I get an error box saying that wurm wants to run an older version of wurm that no longer exists on my system. Do I have to un-install latest version, and if so, what version should I be running? I'm running 64 bit linux - kubuntu version -
  23. Okay, love my own server so far, something I asked for years ago, but I want to be on Linux. You and Unity3D are keeping me on Windows. Please work on the Linux build, please, if you aren't already. I am sure the Mac people would like thier version as well. Cheers.
  24. When clicking drop-downs, e.g. "High", "Medium", "Low" options in the graphics settings, the drop-downs would immediately close after it opened preventing me from making a selection. This made it a pain to adjust settings because I would have to use up/down on the keyboard instead of the mouse. Another related issue was that the mouse position was offset resulting in mouse clicks registering several pixel away from my pointer. Turns out this is a java bug with non-reparenting window managers e.g. xmonad, awesome, dwm. I was able to fix the issue by setting the environment variable _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING to any value. This instructs java to treat your window manager as a non-reparenting window manager.
