  1. Hi there! Complete newbie here. I just installed Wurm last night and have been trying to sign on since then. It was updating incredibly slowly last night--eventually I went to bed, and when I got up the Wurm window was closed. I tried opening it again and it started over with the updating. I left it updating while I went to work; it had reached 60% when I left. When I got back just now it was at 20%, then froze at 36%. I've restarted it and set my computer not to go to sleep, in case that's what's going on. Is this a normal part of the initial install, or is something going wrong? Thanks!
  2. Okay, so I was going to install Wurm. I click the "play" button and the little download begins. It completes almost instantly, and I open it. I see a black box flash on screen and nothing else happens. I'm running chrome and the latest version of java, I even reinstalled java to try and fix it. Any fixes?
  3. Hello folks, I recently reinstalled my Windows, and got trouble with starting/installing Wurm since then. Got Java 7(!) installed and no other versions on my pc(but already tried with java 8, and the unstable client as well). When I start the wurmclient.jnlp, I get the following error(s): "Ressource konnte nicht geladen werden" means "ressource could not be loaded" - sorry for my german Java client ) java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect at java.net.DualStackPlainSocketImpl.connect0(Native Method) at java.net.DualStackPlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Unknown Source) at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source) at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(Unknown Source) at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getNewHttpClient(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.plainConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.HttpUtils.followRedirects(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doRequest(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doRequest(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doGetRequest(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.actionDownload(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.downloadResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.access$000(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) -------- com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Ressource konnte nicht geladen werden: http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.actionDownload(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.downloadResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.access$000(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) I have NO idea what this means, so if anyone got some ideas or this is an usual problem(did not find anything about that), please let me know, thanks!
  4. Every time it tries, it fails. It just pops up a window named Application Error and says Unable to launch the application. Please help!
  5. Has anyone installed the wurm client on a usb portable drive? Can anyone speculate on possible problems that might arise by doing this? I want to be able to take the game client with me as I often have down time when I am around various computers that I can access. Rather than install the client locally which I would not be allowed to do is it possible to install it on a usb drive and run on any machine that has java? Or would it just be easier to install a persistent portable linux os to the usb drive and boot to that to run the client? I plan to try it out later when i get home regardless of the response here i just want to get a discussion going about possible issues. Or perhaps hear from someone who has done/tried this and how they did it or if they were successful. Thanks for your time.
  6. After some more searching in the forum I found the solution! I am sorry for this post since there was already a topic for this. You may remove this topic =)
  7. Just found this game the other day, tried installing it. I was running 7.x, so it came up with the usual 'stuck' error. I installed 6.33, tried to run the link, it asks for a program to use - selected JP2Launch, nothing happens. Ran the autoinstaller for Java, it installed 6.31, tried to run the link, it asks for a program to use - selected JP2Launch, nothing happens. Checked Kaspersky Antivirus logs, nothing related to Wurm, or Java in the last two months. Reinstalled 7.5, came up with the 'stuck' error. No Wurm client, directory, or crash logs at this point. What am I doing wrong? -Vista version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 64 bit - Intel® Core™ i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2401 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) -Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB -Radeon series 6770M (if it matters in the slightest) Firefox 32 (which means I use Java 32) I don't think installiing 6.33 X64 would accomplish anything at this point, as Windows 64 is reverse-compatible with 32 bit Java. keeping my temper in check for now, any advice would be appreciated. -EDIT: Java 6.33 for 64 bit also gives the exact same 'stuck' error. This really looks like a cool-as hell game, but I really can't say anything more if the installer won't even run. -final EDIT: reinstalled 6.33 for 32, and 64 bit. 64 bit freezes like 7.5, but it looks like 32 bit des _not_ have a default directory to execute the java link. So that leaves the final question: What am I supposed to use to launch the file, when I have 32 bit 6.33 Java installed? The play buton on the site downloads the file to the Downloads folder, but then doesn't appear to do anything after that. Excecuting the file after that prompts you for a default program to run it with. So far, nothing I've tried works... Java Web Start crashes just the same in 6.33 32&64 bit as it does in 7.5 32&64 bit. Disabling Kaspersky Antivirus also has no effect, it acts exactly as aforementioned. Something's just not right here... I'm completely out of ideas as to why the client refuses to run, unless the java launcher/client/Idon'tevenknow the site is giving me is corrupted. EDIT #3: I had an internet friend with a good connection a few thousand miles away try to download and install the game, and he had the same issue with sticking.
