  1. For those of us that miss our old stomping grounds, without further ado I present you with the map files for the Old Elevation, the old central pvp map for Wurm Online's Epic Cluster. Some Notes : The mine systems are not included I regenerated those fresh. Any mine door, I converted to rock. Any diagonal roads, I replaced with dirt, there data values were changed at some point in the past so couldn't salvage those. No database data was brought over, just the maps.
  2. Hi Everyone! I deeply apologise for the late VI, the main reason being we've been able to get through huge chunks of long term projects such as project Frontier and Elevation reset. This means that news is light as the other works have been pacing along well! The delay allowed me to collect all the info on the Elevation update with the full locked in systems to share. So let's get to it! Save the date! The final details have been locked down for the Epic patch and Elevation reset! The date is set at going down some time on the 9th, and relaunching on the 11th with a new map. This will affect all of Epic so if you would like to play please do make sure to transfer your character to Freedom. We may even be able to organise something so Elevation goes out with some bangs! The locked in details are: We also have the ingame map that will be available. We'll be launching with a fog of war covering all of Elevation. Over time we may unveil certain areas, but for now everyone will be going in blind. Going native We're also working on a native launcher client to replace the jnlp client very soon. It will be entering team testing for any major issues then be available for all. This won't change anything beyond how the game is launched but will avoid any issues with getting wurm to launch with jnlp. Party time! Last week the 10th Anniversary for Independence event was launched, and it's been awesome. It's been tweaked based on feedback with some locations given a little more info and should be easier to find. I hope everyone enjoys the reward, because I personally think it's amazing! The event will run all July until the update on the 25th, so get to it! VEN streamer and well known drongo Emoo also went on this adventure across Independence, sharing some of his stories and memories, including this awesome glow up of dragonfang! Suggesting suggestive suggestions Another thing in the works is a guide for the suggestions forum detailing the purpose of the suggestions forum and how we as developers use it. Tips on how to post a good suggestion, how to support or counter a suggestion (hint: it's not a democracy with +1's and -1's deciding a winner) as well as answers to commonly suggested ideas. Expect to see this next week. Community stream Later today at 10pm GMT I will be streaming some adventures on another server (we may even have some goodies to give away) ! I haven't picked which server but I will let hint that we are looking for a place to found a developer deed, where we can play the game on stream while we talk (and show how bad we are at it). If you have any suggestions about which server we should check out leave a message below!   3. Soooo, I'll be the one to bring this up. PPL are interesting in shorter term servers on epic, kinda. Like, maybe 4 months at a time, or something regularly reset map/item wise. What about faith? Faith is probably the lagging mechanic for this fast-paced and short-term play-style we are pioneering. Like, how can we make the average new player reach a useful faith level before the next reset so that he can enjoy pvp ? Personally, I can make an alt army to get it done in a week or two, perhaps 70 faith from sermons and stuff, but GL with player retention if that is the only viable way to become a useful priest on the epic cluster, the way it is being run / tweaked now. Ways to make Faith faster for EPIC... Remove the daily faith tick cap? Double skill gains? Reduce the faith cooldown for ticks? Personally I think meditation and faith need some looking into regarding their "pace of progression" for the EPIC servers/ Elevation. I already may have channeling skill, but its gonna take me several days to even be able to priest here and a lot can happen between now and then on this server. Additionally, a week to priest + several weeks to reach 80 or so faith is a significant chunk of the server life. Even at 80 meditation, it will take me a long time to get to the more interesting path abilities (lvl 9). Basically, I'm just trying to say that the faith and mediation progression on Epic does not mesh well with the pace of everything else. I can make a full set of gear in 2 hrs, but I have to wait a month to be a useful priest unless I go very hardcore on it, which means its probably beyond the reach of starting players and more casual players - out of their reach on a server meant to cater more to a casual, easier but fun playstyle.

We are the 10th PMK ever founded on the Epic Cluster, and our members are known for their very well executed sieges on the very Capitols our enemies take pride in, their continued efforts in fending off enemies while patrolling far away lands, and a sea of experience. To those who have interest, we can offer private housing with enclosures for horses, tools, PvP-Ready weapons and armor, and our own experience to assist you with training and learning the mechanics in place. In the beginning of June, an unknown adventure shall begin for myself and a group of people who have agreed to join the Epic, Elevation server with the sponsorship and support of AceRifle. We have planned and recruited among our friends, and are now ready to take recruitment to the next level and to start recruiting people we have not yet been in touch with.   9. Gather up, people! I will tell you a story about travels and adventures, lands and seas, priests and monsters! The Story of Epic Priesthood began few days ago, when my beloved wife Sein took our sail boat and travelled to see the volcanoes, on the west part of our continent Serenity... I was busy with something in the village, so she went alone. That day a thick mist fell down... In that mist, Sein travelled too far to the south, and even reached the South Harbour on Serenity. Due to bad weather, she passed along the volcanoes and didn't see them at all, thinking she is still somewhere near the north-western shores. When she realized she is lost and very far from home ( and then she realized she forgot to take food with her ), she cried of help, and I rushed to find her. I grabbed my best armor and weapons, took a small rowing boat, and sailed to one of the harbours on the western shore of our continent to meet Sein. While I was waiting for her, I tried to entertain myself as I could - lighted a few fires, killed few beasts, tamed a brown bear. You know, it's an old russian tradition you know - taming bears while you wait for someone. They are great company when you are bored! About an hour later, when Sein returned, we hid the sailboat near the western shore, and travelled back home. But that's only the half of the story... Next day I fell asleep after the hard work in the village. And Sein decided to go back to the sailboat and check if it's still there... Somehow, she managed to miss all the local monsters, and arrived to the boat. Then she thought 'Why not to try to reach Elevation?'.. Really, why not? So she sailed off the coast to the ocean, in a small sailboat, heading in unknown direction to the lands she never seen... After some time in the endless ocean, she finally saw the far shore of the other continent... It was Elevation! There Sein remembered my story about the Altar of Three Gods, located somewhere in the northern regions. And she thought 'Why not to try to become a priest?'.. Really, why not? It was a late evening, on the unknown shore of the unfamiliar Epic PvP continent... The best time for taking a trip and doing something new, yeah. So she saw a long white ray, coming from the ground up to the sky... Then she sailed there all night, along the wild Elevation shoreline. Hungry bears and sharks were swimming around all night... In the morning, when Sein got closer to the light ray location, she saw TONS OF MONSTERS roaming the shores of the northern peninsula... They all gathered around the Altar, looked like they are guarding it from unwary travellers... Trolls, demons, bears, hellhounds, goblins, spiders - almost all kinds of monsters gathered there. Sein tried to climb out of water to look around, but the shore was too steep... Luckily, there were lots of lost horses swimming around that area... And somehow Sein didn't think about what happened to their previous owners. She thought "Yay! Free horses!!!" So she caught one of the horses, mounted it and climber out of water. Then Sein waited for the best moment, when some monsters move aside, and swiftly rushed to the Altar! Unfortunately, (or luckily) only ONE hellhound noticed her... And chased her of course... Sein was wearing only thin leather armor, so by the time she reached the Altar - her horse was already dead, and Sein had some serious wounds... She quickly activated the Altar of Three... and some inscriptions started to pop up, with some questions, warnings, etc. At the same time the hellhound continued to chew her... tearing her armor and body apart... Boosted by fear and adrenaline rush, Sein clicked everything she could click! Then the Red Tunnel came, and Sein died. A great luck - she managed to choose the correct resurrection point, and appeared in our village, back on Serenity. Naked, frozen and hungry of course... Everything she had was left far behind on the Elevation, near the Altar - like it was a sacrifice to the Gods - a price to become a Priest. By that moment I woke up, and came to see what happened - her cries could wake up the dead... Sein said: 'I think I just became a priest... i'm not sure though...' So I told her to check her Favor - and yep, she had more Favor than a common Follower could ever have! Somehow in the very last moment of her life - she clicked the last window and completed the Ritual.
  10. Before the map reset, it was possible to bash any guard tower, even same kingdom ones. On the new map, you can only bash towers in your own village, similarly to home servers and freedom.
  11. The Horde of the Summoned has a long rich history of war, brutality, deception, and both victories and defeats. It is often perceived as the uncivilized kingdom that is populated by savages who follow no rules or honor, only hatred. The kingdom follows only one god, Libila, who requires her followers to use terror, deception, torture, death, and sacrifices. The Horde is not a kingdom for everyone, and new players will face many struggles, hardships, accusations, and will be forced to earn each others trust. If you’re interested in trying the Horde of the Summoned, here are some highlights about the kingdom: - The Horde of the Summoned is the smallest of the three normal kingdoms on Epic, and often presents more of a challenge to new players because their traditions and small population. Equipment like tools, armor, and weapons are earned through work, dedication, and or PvP, and tends not to be sold abundantly on merchants. This gives players more sense of pride to rightfully earn their equipment as opposed to be given it for free. - Followers of Libila are meant to be evil, and are told to use deceptive tactics in order to succeed. Therefore you will not be punished when stealing, lockpicking, or even attacking fellow Horde members. Libila also possesses some of the strongest spells for PvP, including spells that can drain health or stamina, create mycelium, summon zombies, and even rebirth dead animals (including Champions) into zombie pets. - Mycelium is great for both crafters and fighters. By simply standing on mycelium it will over time raise your nutrition and food to the maximum amount, and at high nutrition you receive a 5% skill gain bonus. Mycelium will grow in houses and naturally spread to infect grass, dirt, and tree tiles if within Horde of the Summoned territory and Libila influence. Additionally a player can absorb a mycelium tile to heal their wound(s) instead of using cotton. To those interested in joining, there are many villages available on Elevation and Affliction and we are sure that at least one of them can suit your needs.   13. I've seen a few requests for pics of the new Elevation Map that just launched, so I figured a thread would suffice. For all you fortunate folk not at work right now, please endow the rest of us poor sods with screenshots of the new and beautiful lands of Elevation!
  14. The way it is now free to play alts are not supposed to be able to be spawned in within the no spawn zone. You can spawn in ftp alts and use village teleport to get them to the deed anywhere on the map. Which really is the same as being able to spawn in the no spawn zone.
  15. 1. Remove death tabs - simple, it makes back dooring that much harder, is a bit less discouraging to roaming; this will compliment the large server size wonderfully 2. Don't spawn hell horses... ever... - same as above, and they're stupidly broken (wanna hear a joke? 5 speed oak shelled HH with supreme gear) 3. Fix catapulting - it sucks, go back to the old system or make it actually not boring and tedious 4. Remove the dumb nerfs to archery and armor - go back to the pre-mid-summer patch for these, they currently suck 5. Revert shield bashing - currently useless and an indirect buff to sotg and armor buff stacking, also can't stun people to prevent them from running and hopping at gates and mines; revert it 6. Remove volcano rod - this was given out immediately after you fixed the eyesores on Elevation; remove it please 7. Don't allow gigantic rock pillars to spawn - easily abusable for mid-map deeded mine hops and nearly indestructible reinforced safe mines / vaults 8. Remove animal ratio from PvP (or all servers) - it sucks, it doesn't work, and it's pointless when several dozen horses die in one fight, it increases the down time between PvP 9. Place a limit on deed distance from HotA - deeds will be abused as they currently are on Elevation and Chaos for mine hops at HotA 10. No free-to-play - free-to-play are literally 100% useless for anything productive on PvP servers, they cannot fight or contribute to a village; they can only be abused for safe storage, to kite mob trains into people's horses, to scout local (the deactivated local list is bugged and often doesn't block local), to attack horses directly, and other annoying and abusive behavior 11. Fix teleporting - the large map is going to encourage the same type of abuse as on Chaos in addition to what is currently seen; block teleporting of all types within a certain time after crossing a server border, before / during HotA, after leaving enemy local, and within 24 hours of being added to a village 12. Fix nolocate - it currently is a 100% block rate on all forms of locating when cast on body with no counter (aside from dispel, which is obviously useless if you don't know where the enemy is, hence locates); cap it by cast power for locate soul, remove or nerf locate block for locate creatures and lurker in the dark 13. Remove hunted status and reputation - it only hinders PvP, you get hit by your own kingdom's AoEs, you ping on their pendulums, and you count as an enemy (suspected CR nerf on your own home server) Please consider these. New Elevation needs new fun. I don't think anyone wants it to suck and I think most people can agree on many of these.
  16. As title says; have multiple different maps presented, then have an in-game poll (or forum poll on Epic forums?) for which one, then pick the one with the majority (or some other method.) I've heard making a map is a lot of effort, so maybe just 2 or 3 potential choices, but it'd be cool to give the players the choice of which one they have more of a preference for. This way, if Rolf has several maps with varying themes (lots of water vs. lots of land vs. lots of mountains), it might make it easier for players to identify something they may enjoy. Just an idea...
  17. Hey Everyone! > As you may have noticed, the weekly news has now moved to a Friday. In the past, Thursdays were the best time because Johan could deal with feedback on the Friday after the news came out. Now, however, I am much more available to do that on weekends rather than Fridays. It also gives the developers an extra day to submit news for the week! Sorry this was unannounced. I meant to mention it last week! This week the developers have been scaling back development in time for the Easter Holidays but there have still been things going on behind the scenes with feature implementations and tweaks. There are no major feature announcements today. Without too much delay, here's the news... Elevation Trader Reimbursements As everyone is aware, the reset for the Elevation server is fast approaching. To facilitate the transition players are now able to request reimbursement for traders that they own using the in-game /support reporting system. These traders will be removed and reimbursed at a value of 20 silver coins each. To qualify for reimbursement a trader must either: Be located on a deed (Reimbursement to Mayor or designated alternate) Be located within a house (Reimbursement to Writholder or designated alternate)Traders not meeting either of the 2 above requirements are not qualified for reimbursement.Players will have until April 8th to make claims after which all traders will be removed from the server. Original thread for this can be found here. Elevation Map Under Construction One of the tasks the development team have been working on is the new map for Elevation. I don't have any detailed information yet but as mentioned previously it is planned to include a central landmass with smaller islands near the borders with the existing home servers. Don't forget that "small islands" in this case could turn out to be pretty big relative to what players are used to on Elevation. War Machines Implemented After an initial introduction on the Challenge servers, the Trebuchet, Ballista, Siege Shield, Spike Barrier, Magical Turrets and Archery towers were implemented on all servers, although the towers do not attack enemies (except KoS players on PvP servers). There were a few issues to begin with whereby players were able to block each other using siege shields on the PvE servers, although they should now be easier to push and pull to avoid this. The game rules were amended to make it very clear that it is against the rules to "block access to deeds, merchants, or structures not belonging to you" or to "intentionally create player traps", using siege shields or any other method, on the Freedom cluster (excluding Chaos). Initial feedback showed that the trebuchet was overpowered at first so there is now a delay in firing it to make it more reasonable. Xanadu and Chaos Map Dump Progress We are hoping to use various methods of distributing the fresh map dumps of Xanadu and Chaos soon. Our primary distribution will be in the form of a Google Maps style interface as part of the Wurm site, possibly even with map markers for the start deeds etc. and the potential for more information to be added over time. Many thanks to Mamadarkness and MaxC for working on this over the past week! We also expect that some players will want to be able to download the image file itself for use in community maps, or to re-host on their own servers, or to view offline. We hope to make the map dumps freely available as torrents. If you have a specific need for the raw file (to make a community map, or to re-host it on your own servers) you may also message me once they are released and I will send you instructions on downloading the raw image file. A direct download link on our own site would be our favourite option but at the moment there's no way we would have enough bandwidth. The files are pretty big indeed! Bridge Debugging Continues There is not much to say about bridges right now other than they are coming along nicely and debugging is going very well. We still expect that they will be released in mid-April for all to enjoy! Bridges still very much under construction! Click for a larger version. Successful Treasure Hunt Congratulations to all who took part in the latest Game Master organised treasure hunt which took part on the Exodus server last Saturday. The turnout was really great and I hear it was well organised so good job all round! I also heard that some people enjoyed exploring a new server they had never been on much, or at all, before even if they didn't win one of the big prizes so that's great to hear.   18. As stated here, Elevation is getting a reset. I figured this would be a good time as any to pop my Wurm PVP ch...err..... I mean, get my feet wet with some Wurm PVP. So, recommendations? Let me hear your pros and cons and what kingdom you'd recommend joining please. As it's all new to me, I don't really have any prejudices of any sort with regard to factions and will consider any that makes a good case for recruitment.   19. Hello fellow wurmians, what do you think about adding some spice to Epic? Something that will shake people and add more life to cluster. Once or twice a year (could be discussed later) Valrei gods become displeased with people of epic. So they fall asleep, and leave people for 48 hours without their protection and patronage. During these 48 hours epic players would see/feel/have: no magic at all (gods are sleeping and can't lend you their power) no altar influence and god domains 30% chance that Meditation bonuses (erupt/enchant/fear/teleport/recall home/and all others) will work no reputation hits and no penalties (sleeping gods can't judge you) possibility to threaten enemy kingdom merchants on Homeservers That could be called The Massacre, or The Purge.

  21. I could have sworn I saw someone list the elevation of the tallest mountains, but can no longer find it. Does anyone know?   22. This suggestion is for Epic and Chaos players only. In Elevation all the villages of the same Kingdom are in the same Alliance. The Alliance has a capital. After winning the HOTA there are items that are sent to the token of that capital. These items are: - 5 glimmersteel lumps - 5 adamantine lumps - 1 Hota statue - 1 medallion After playing on Elevation for 6 months I have not been rewarded any of these items. I have participated in HOTA more then 20 times with the winning Kingdom. Here is my suggestion to stop letting just one person control these items. m! If yoA point systeu attend the HOTA you are rewarded 1 HOTA point. You have to be online and in the HOTA zone to get the point and of course in the winning Kingdom. The person with the highest amount of points gets a item. After you get an item your points reset back to zero. Example 15 people go to the HOTA and they are all the same kingdom. They win. Everyone is rewarded 1 point. 3 people are left without an item. Well, the next time they go and win they will for sure get something because the other 12 people have 0 points while the other 3 people have 1 point.

  24. When you catapult and hit someone from your own kingdom and I think templars you go hunted. When you become hunted tamed tamed horses and animals will attack other players. The hunted system is not supposed to be on elevation because its a full pvp server and it does not make sense. It would be nice to see this fixed.
