  1. I'M HAVING A BLAST SO FAR! Feels like if I have found "my Ultimate Game". So much that i want to dedicate a partition to it so as to have the best performance as possible. So i'm looking for the best OS for it! So fai i'm considering Linux over Windows. (Specs: I7 4700MQ, nVidia 740M, HDD 5400RPM) OBJECTIVES: Wurm Online-Centered OS. Maximum OpenGL performance. As Lightweight as possible, with few tools like a light browser (Chromium? Midori?), minimalistic DE. TARGETS: Currently Lubuntu.Had some previous experience with it and liked it personally. I'm looking for "gamer OS" but i'm not sure how many "gaming ornaments" a gaming OS can have. My linux knowledge is not horrible but certainly basic. I fare quite well with PC's in general and have (low-level) programming experience, so i have a glimpse of things. It's just that I don't know the more Linux-esque things. EDIT1: forgot to mention the most important thing.. JAVA support/performance EDIT2: Found out about Drauger OS: even has a particular low-latency kernel that gives less priorities to more mundane tasks. I'm interested in that one! Thank you and Happy Grinding! Nicolás
  2. Hello all, I was looking at the empty windows of my new house and thought, 'all the tools for glassmaking, profession wise, are in the game already...' So, what do we think? New glassmaking skill that allows you to make simple panes for your homes, grid or diamond pattern muntins. It would even be feasible with the dyes and jewelry making bits to do stained glass windows, t'would look great in a cathedral window. Recipes for bottles and beakers could be a part of this if it was to be expanded towards alchemy; but one thing at a time, I'd just love to see windows for our homes/castles. The difficult part, I assume, would be coding them to sit nicely in the various wall/window types. As far as the art goes, its such a fun idea, I'm sure some community artists would help. Thanks, Emesh
  3. Over time when playing Wurm Unlimited, my Target Window disappears, Quickbar disappears, Select Bar disappears, and Skill Tracker Window loses yellow color randomly. Relogging fixes it temporarily but eventually it always comes back and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/257093625784492359/DAF9D812FD3FC618D0874F11F84671EA6EF9BEDF/ The pic doesn't have the target window disappearing, but it eventually does like the Select bar and Quickbar.

  5. ======================================================================================================== UPDATE: As of 22-Oct-2015 this little tool has become obsolete. The current time of year and season is now included in "WurmClock V3". ======================================================================================================== Most of you probably know "WurmClock" (http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/61451-wurmclock-desktop-app-showing-current-wurm-time-and-date/). I wanted to have a similar desktop app showing the seasons and the current time of year in Wurm Online, so that I could see at one glance what the current season is and when the next season change will be due. So I wrote this little program, which is quite similar to WurmClock (in fact, it basically uses the same program code). Like WurmClock, WurmYear displays a small (200x200) dial on your Windows desktop: This is a first Beta version of WurmYear, for all those who would like to test the program. As you see, the artwork is still pretty crude and there are no user skins, as with WurmClock. The little green light will turn yellow, then red, if the Wurm servers have been unreachable for some time, so no time synchronization was possible. If you like WurmYear I will continue working on the program and try to make it as useful as WurmClock (improving the artwork, allowing user skins etc.). So, please feel free to test this little app and give me your feedback. You can download the program here: WurmYear V0.2.1 Unpack the zip file and copy the executable (WurmYear.exe) to any folder you like. There is no installation - just run the executable. WurmYear has been tested with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, but it should also run with Windows XP. (Requires the current .NET framework.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please check my other tools: WurmClock, WurmStatus, WurmSkills ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates: 06-Oct-2013 (V 0.2): Updated the season display, fixed a bug with showing wrong Wurm date
  6. Hi There has been some previous posts about this issue, long ago. A very known and widely accepted problem, where models loading in the distance has a freezing effect on the framerate. If you you walk forward, then every few seconds you get a glitch as stuff appears. However, now, it is insanely bad, and it is happening for three of us (the only three people I could confirm with) on different connections, different pc's and one in a different geographical location. The glitching is now 1-2 second freezes. We have tried many many things, from resolution drops, to lowering settings, to playuing around with the model loading threads and priorities, framelimiters, we have tried disabling indexing on windows pc's, clearing the java cache (with javaws) and much much more. But the problem remains. Myself, Meerkatjie and Xardus, without any change to our configs or usual manner of play, now experience it. 40fps..... 0fps for 2 seconds, back to 40 again. It is, dare I say, borderline unplayable and unacceptable to a point where quitting is the only bet (since restarting the client does not help). Something changed in the recent updates, please tell us what it is, and how to circumvent it. It is horrible. Some details from my rig, which is the lowest powered computer between the three of us: Java 7 Update 51 build 1.7.0_51-b13 (all of us) AMD 1090T (6 core, 3.5 ghz) on a Asus M4A785TD-M EVO DDR3 8192MB Dual channelled ATi Radeon 6770 1 GB Windows 7 (legit and updated all the way) Most background services disabled The other pc's are way more modern than mine. Thanks in advance. Marlon PS: I can't post "crash reports" since there is no crash.
  7. Hey everyone. In order to help Wurm run more smoothly on my laptop, I've created a .bat file that tells Java to use 4GB of my 8GB of RAM. The game runs great! However, this led to a different (though small) problem: there's no desktop icon for Wurm! When the game adds its shortcut on the desktop, it has an icon; however, when I go into the properties and press "change icon" to find it, my computer says the file does not exist. I have searched every single Wurm-related folder I can find on my computer, and I admit I even took a peek inside the .jar files to see if it was hidden away in there somewhere. Long story short, I found absolutely nil. So...I'm hoping someone here can either point me in the right direction or perhaps even create one.
  8. So although I can't play for three weeks really (I can, but playing is a very loose term when I'm used to such higher skills Ugh, it's like starting a new game that I've already played too much, till I can pay for Premium.. anyone wanna spot me? ) till my paycheck, I decided hey, screw it, I'll map out a place to look at for settling down. Apparently nupe. WIndows 8 Laptop. Not a gaming laptop or anything but capable of running Skyrim on extreme, soooo. Java issue maybe? It's up-to-date. I'd like to actually be able to play the one game I like playing anymore. Nothing else does the trick for me. Woo for getting disillusioned. And seriously if you trust me enough to pay ya back, I'll pay ya back in silver when I get paid xP So impatient, I am. Shushing now. ~Auri.
  9. the first think that came to my mind when i read that update was, WHY? why only for the friends tab and not just all tabs.since u already did it for one tab it shouldnt be hard to reproduce for all tabs and would be great to have.

  11. Really wondering how many linux/ubuntu users there are out there. But, also trying to judge if an updated install guide for linux and wurm on linux would have a community. For those wanting to dig there are a couple good docs on the web as well as posts on forums. Just would like to make it as easy as possible for users to connect from a non-windows or mac OS.
  12. Recently I've been playing a lot of Wurm Online and kept referring to a page on the wiki which states currency denominations. So, I decided to make a tool that can be accessed quicker from my desktop that will convert the values for me. There's no installation required, just unzip and run the executable. I hope it'll be useful to other Wurm players too! A web version has already been coded; it's just a matter of tidying it up and hosting it! 13. just curious and all. I prefer XP and despise the new ones not because it's "New" because its no longer about the user, only about the features the glitz and glam, on top of what can make the bigger $$$. Windows XP in my opinion was fine, easy to work with great for gaming and servers. As far as i can tell. then Vista comes out and online life becomes a nightmare because nearly everything not made by Microsoft was so incompatible. Vista and Seven has some nice features yes, but it don't beat the fact Windows XP wasn't your PC-Mommy telling you what you can and cant do. it's YOUR computer why the heck should it be secured beyond our control? Then 7 came out and the security isn't as nagging but still its just as resource hungry as vista, like why is it XP can run games with min 1gb but vista/7 just HAVE to have another 1-2? in short, A little more effort in XP could have gone a long way. And with the prices of the new windows OS 199$? that's just pathetic i'm not paying 200$ for something they will eventually marked as "Not genuine" I'd sooner go to Ubuntu/Linux and wait another 5 years for something that isn't sales orientated. These are just my thoughts i dunno all the details so correct me if i'm wrong about things but don't be ignorant and rude. How about your opinions? Please share, if you used windows before but switched to something else how come? what turned you away?
