  1. Hi all, Normally I'd post this topic in the Wiki section, but because I'm actually looking for more information, into the general discussion it goes I've been collecting the known information related to armor stats into a single sheet for easier reference. The idea is that it will be placed on the wiki's Armor page replacing (or the additional information added to) the current chart, but there is a large portion of data I'm not able to find. Here's what I have so far: I've intentionally not included the "Base Protection" values from the old comparison chart since I replaced it with the Damage Reduction values (which was what the old column reflected) I'd also like to add the damage types it is strong/weak against (basic overview in the Guide to PVE), filling the missing information on this chart, and if there are any additional notes (ex. Armor X gains an additional bonus/penalty (above the stance's bonus/penalty) when used in Y fighting stance, or Armor Y reduces attack speeds). All information presented here is taken from (or based on) the various guides and item pages already on the wiki, so there is no new information being presented, just collecting it in one spot and trying to expand on it a bit. ::edited to include a correct image of the data sheet::
  2. Is there some reason the website and wiki is not working? I tried to get online and the game would not launch so i deleted the jar i had for unstable but now i can not get a new one because the website and wiki are down. Are the game servers even working?
  3. I am looking to for people willing to become involved in a grassroots project to address some of the short comings in new player guides, how-to and areas related to 'what to expect when new to wurm". http://forum.wurmonl...levation/This thread lays out in the last couple posts the scope, end goals and the basic means to do this. What I and others are looking for is help, nothing more or less then your time, to create these helpful docs. As many of us have different knowledge bases and different play styles it was felt just asking might be the way to go.. This is not an attempt to redo the wiki project, displace a team nor is this an attempt to rate anything currently out there. This is in it purest form an attempt by players to fill the void in areas that fall outside the wiki project and current documents. We are asking you to become involved because while there are a lot of nay-sayers quick to point out the flaws in the current documentation I am hoping most are willing to help but just needed to be asked. If you are interested please just drop a note in this thread and this weekend I will start looking on how best to lead this motley-crew to a success (which might include turning the control to someone more suitable ).
  4. According to the wiki: "30 carpentry skill is needed to plan inner walls..." My character has 20 carpentry skill. I'm a free user so there's no way I can ever have 30 skill. But I was still able to plan indoor walls in my house. I planned and finished 4 walls already. Also according to the wiki: "Note: Only the owner of the house writ can add inner walls," I don't have the writ. My deed's mayor does. And like I said earlier, I can still plan it.
  5. So, the wiki is a little short on information about how traders actually work and my understanding of the topic is a bit fuzzy. So I decided to start this thread to collect the infoation, this is what I heard sofar: Traders deal with two groups of items: player made and special items. When a trader is created the creator can set a tax rate of up to 40%. He starts out with only 1 Silver and several special items. Player made items The game uses a list of base prices defined by type of item and quality. You can querry that value with the "get price" option. A trader uses this base price and modifies it by some supply and demand values. When he sells an item, he tajes this modified price plus a little gain(?) plus taxes. When he buys something he subtracts gain and taxes. In both cases taxes go to the deed. Once in a while an invisible Kingdom trader comes along to take some items and bring money. This trade isn't necessarily equal though and depends on the success of the trader. Apparently a very successful trader can receive good items in addition to the money as well. Special items Those are not affected by tax. They are never bought back. When the trader sells one of these items he keeps some money and sends some money to the king. The ratio is different from item to item. Transmutation wand: 50S Cost, 38S go to the King, 12S remain with the trader. Settlement form, Merchant and Trader contract: Everyone claims all money goes to the King and the stuff is not affected by tax, so why do trade owners sell these contracts for less? So that's all i found out so far, can anyone add more information or correct mistakes if there are any?
  6. am i the only one who thinks ingame wiki pages(the ones u get when u click whats this?)shouldnt be useles? some time ago i tried to edit this page http://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Item:Leggat to add information about how to make a leggat and it was edited back to just the description
  7. Someone has undoubtedly realized this or will in time, but I'll mention it, anyhow, just in case. The "Wiki" link under "Community" from the main Wurm site to Wurmpedia does not act as a link... Instead it downloads a file titled "download" with no extension and an unknown filetype. Is this only my experience? The Wurmpedia its self seems to be in working order or I would not have mentioned this here.
  8. Please use the WIKI sub forum for Wiki stuff! It is found right at the bottom of the forums main page view. Wurmpedia / Wiki maintenance A place to submit potential new information for the Wiki and or discuss current wiki updates but for the lazy ones here is a link http://forum.wurmonl...ki-maintenance/ As a wiki editor its much faster for all of us to check there than to look at 5,770 topics or 138,289 replies just in this sub forum(that is on 9:19 AM {GMT+2} on 20 March 2013) for wiki related information Thank you.
  9. I've been playing this game off and on for about a year to play with a friend of mine, and he was commenting to me how annoying it was to have to alt-tab to a browser to check the wiki for info and risk being exposed and vulnerable while the game was not the active window, and then the lag and reload when alt-tabbing back. He wanted an app to browse the wiki, so I took up the challenge. It took me a while to figure it out, but here it is. The app is in beta right now as I am not overly well-versed in Java. There are still many bugs, and I had to decrease some android security to allow me to parse a webpage without making an asynchronous task (android doesn't like doing two things at once, but it's at such a small scale that it's not too big a deal). The app will be in beta until I figure out asyncing. Also, the app is not on the play store yet for a couple reasons: 1. It costs money, and I don't have $25 lying around to spend on it. 2. The reduced security. I'm pretty sure this won't be allowed on the market. In order to install, you have to enable "Unknown Sources". Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources or Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources I hope this app is found useful. Please download it and try it out. The current permissions required are Full Internet Access and Modify SD Card Contents. The first is obvious, and the second is obsolete. I no longer store data on the sdcard, but I just forgot to remove the permission request for it. I will remove it in the next update.
  10. I have added a new page for the less known Custom timer. This should be really helpful for anyone not using a 3rd party application to monitor their prayers. Could also be used for reminding players when to refuel their forge or when it's nearly time to groom or feed animals. Please share any other ideas you may have! Happy timing! http://wurmpedia.com...hp/Custom_timer
  11. Hi all, Not sure how needed it is, but should we have a "voluntary to join" list of the current wiki editors? Might make it easier to track posts and replies between editors and non-editors for organization needs. ::edit insert:: Okay, since we seem to have a lot folks willing to be known, the current list would be: Suggested Wiki Forum Posting Guidelines For Wiki Editor account request: (GM) Eir Currently Active within the last 30 Days: http://wurmpedia.com...fset=&limit=100 Known Wurmpeda Editors (Active or otherwise): bwg - Marni (Talk | contribs) Hussars Mattown Gary (Talk | contribs) Snakegal (Talk | contribs) Equinox (Talk | contribs) Maozorz (Talk | contribs) Axeblade (Talk | contribs) Xemos (Talk | contribs)‎ Sklo (Talk | contribs)‎ Wraithglow (Talk | contribs)‎ Maxthx Docterchese (Talk | contribs) Amiti (Talk | contribs) Hordern (Talk | contribs) Felthanne (Talk | contribs) AAetius (Talk | contribs) Solver (Talk | contribs)
  12. http://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Pylon I have made an overhaul of the Pylon page to smarten it up in line with other Wiki pages which describe decorations and items. I do, however, require a bit more info as I wasn't involved in the creation of them. I've also added in a new category, Epic Missions. Skill and Improvement - does it use masonry and can it be improved/repaired. If so, with what? Item type - is it a decoration or does it have its own group (what's the right click option when creating? Heading 1 and Heading 2 in the table needs updating. What do these represent? % helped? Skill gained? Feel free to point me in the direction of any more which have been created so I can add them to the list - an image and helper list would be super too. Any other notes you'd like to bring to the table, please do so in here so I can add them. Cheers!
  13. Hi, It seems like I am the only one getting this problem. When I "do" What's this? on any item, ingame wiki will pop up, but instead of wiki text I get this error: Failed to open http://www.wurmpedia...oden_fence_gate java.net.UnknownHostException: www.wurmpedia.com my specs: OS: Win 8 Java: 7
  14. I would like to start off by saying that I really like Wurm's menu/creation method. The rightclick menus are simple and allow for accessibility. However, If it were up to me, here's how I would make an attempt at improving them: --- Allow for a popout menu window and within this menu: Columns that you can sort by kg/vol/material/etc Minimizable/dragable/resizeable. A Picture and/or wiki link icon that you can click on next to item name Perhaps other features such as a mouse-over 'items required' blip Pros: Completely Optional. Enable/disable from menu (like showing No Target/Examine, Etc) Pop Out window would be for those seeking more information on the items they can create Sorting by name/weight/material could help find things more quickly A wiki link and/or picture display would let players know how the object they're building will appear. -- This would help if multiple wall cosmetic wall types are added, in the normal right click menu it would just be named but the optional pop out window would provide more detailed information and an image More to come Cons: It's not -needed-, helpful but not needed The in-game wiki does not support images Surely more to come That's all I can come up with off the top of my head, Basically what I have envisioned is an information center of sorts. It might make things a bit more easier for newbies, perhaps a method of seeing what all you could make (and their percentages) with various tools. (( No Creation from this menu, in my opinion, i know the menus randomize to help combat botters so this would be merely informational)) If anyone else has ideas they'd like to add/take or what have you, feel free. Of course anyone could just tab to the wiki but I believe that having instant internal (ingame) information at hand with ease of access would appeal to newbies and veterans alike.
  15. Edit: Wurmpedia is currently down. Rolf knows, it's being worked on. For details, see: />http://wurmonline.tumblr.com/post/28132155229/wurmpedia-problems If you're desperate in the interrim, you can mine the google cache, as described here: />http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/64796-using-the-wiki-during-downtime/ Good luck out there.
