We have a few slots open for specialized focuses, but willing to take anyone in who wants to be apart of a thriving village. A solid effort has been afforded to creating a useable canal that borders most of the deed, we hope those who join us are willing to put in an even greater effort to create a permanent one passable by all ships that may be around for the servers lifetime. As we have recently gained partial control over both canals of the major Harmony river. we hope more will join us in this endeavor to connect everyone, and create major trade routes. A major highway has already been completed allowing for a high traffic location, with the perfect spot to setup your market and sell goods on site, players averaging easily over 10s a month there is plenty of money to be made with us. I created a secondary low graphics settings profile on my laptop, as I want it to run cooler in the current heat, but the selected settings profile is not persisted in the launcher, so it's very easy to get the wrong profile selected. Steps to reproduce: 1) Create a new settings profile from inside the client (mine is called 'low') and save it. 2) Quit the game and start the launcher (not changing the profile). 3) Check which settings profile is set in the launcher. Expected: The last selected settings profile from inside the client should be selected in the launcher. Actual: The profile previously selected in the launcher is selected. EDIT: I noticed that if the problem was different from what I initially thought. The problem is actually that the launcher does not remember (or get notified of) a change in settings profile that you do in the client. If you select the profile in the launcher, it is correctly set in the client and persisted in the launcher as well. This is of course a very minor problem, even more minor than what I thought the issue was before.

  5. What the title says really! We have an almost unprecedented population of players on Harmony, all searching for livestock to keep and mobs to practice fs on. As a result, apart from high level creatures like lava spiders, hell scorpions and crocodiles, the number of animals found in the wild is extremely low. Players like me looking for livestock are having to go on huge trips to perhaps find a single cow that's been lucky enough to survive the players skilling fs. This also puts new players coming in at a disadvantage, as they'd be extremely lucky to find anything to pull their carts. I also know of some people who had a locked off deed pen broken into and all their livestock killed, presumably by someone skilling. So please, please can we have upped spawn rates on Harmony? Even if it's just for a while it would be very useful for breeders, skillers and new players. Pretty please?
  6. I'm having trouble starting the Steam launcher on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04), which I did not have on another computer running Ubuntu 19.04 (or maybe it's 19.10). The little splash logo shows up for half a second, then goes away for several seconds, only to show up again right before a segmentation fault. I tried reinstalling Wurm and still get the issue. I also tried setting the Prime profile in Nvidia X server settings to: 1) "Performance mode" 2) "On demand" with "NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia" added in the Steam launch options The issue is the same with any of them. The computer is a new MSI laptop with an Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card (switchable graphics). It does have very little RAM at the moment (8Gb), since the store was out of fitting RAM this morning. Wurm worked fine on my old laptop (integrated Intel graphics >10 years old) and on my desktop (Nvidia GTX 750 Ti). Added info: The Wurm Online Steam install folder contains the following: gamedata/packs/ : graphics.jar pmk.jar sound.jar linux64/runtime/ : bin lib main plugin folders, plus a few text files about copyrights and licences. WurmLauncher executable Verifying integrity of game files on Steam confirms it's all ok. I also tested Wurm Unlimited and it works fine, both the launcher and the game. Has anyone else had this kind of problem on Linux or does someone know how to find the core dump/logs for Steam Wurm online, so I can find out more?
  7. I am trying to connect to game by Steam, however nothing happens. I just see "Connecting to server...." after click "Play" on launcher. I've tryed re-open client and restart Steam and computer. Also I've login on server yesterday. Please help

  9. Having an issue with the game constantly freezing for a few mins at a time. It happens at least once every ten mins. I am on the steam client. I uninstalled java/ installed java 8. I've lowered my graphics settings, updated my graphics card drivers. I've run it in debug mode and not sure if anything happened with that... Sometimes it will freeze and crash. Sometimes it will just randomly crash. It is a mess. I'll add my log. Also, this started really bad after 8/5/2020 or 8/6/2020 update. I verified my update files as well.   12. The Steam Wurm Online page says Wurm is Free to Play but I've seen complaints saying this is misleading and doesn't mention about needing a subscription to progress past 20 skill cap. I had a look at other Free to Play games on Steam that also use subscriptions. One is Star Wars - The Old Republic which is listed as Free to Play but underneath the Play Game button you can clearly see it says "Optional Subscription" and gives the option to purchase premium time and game coins right there. Showing this on the Wurm page would make it clearer that Wurm has a subscription model and hopefully reduce complaints.

Having alts is a long time Wurm tradition, but Steam Client does not allow that, or does it? Firstly find your Wurm Online folder in your Steam Library, usually in c:\program files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps|common but may be on another drive, depending on how you set it up, long story short, Steam Properties, Local Files should open the folder for you, you should have a couple of folders and an exe file, Make a shortcut to the Exe file on your desktop, since you use that, NOT the shortcut Steam dumped on your desktop for you to launch the game. Next you need to create a text file, so right click in the folder, New text file, rename that to Steam_appid. Now Edit that text file and enter the number 1179680 Save the file. Use the NEW shortcut to open Wurm Online and login your main character, now, here's the magic, Use the NEW shortcut to open another instance of Wurm Online, enter another character name, and behold, an Alt, while your Main is still logged in! What devilry is this? (Disclaimer: This may not work if you have file extensions off in windows explorer and make a file called Steam_appid.txt.txt instead of Steam_appid.txt. Also, this works on Linux too, but you'll have to find your folders yourself, Different distros may do things differently, but the basic method is the same) Also note: This is Multiclienting, NOT Multiboxing. Multiboxing is bannable. Multiclienting is allowed in Wurm.

  15. Sometimes when adding items to an unfinished complex item, the unfinished item disappears from the crafting window and you have to drag it back in again to queue more crafting actions. The already ongoing actions finish without the item in the crafting window. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough that it's noticeable.
  16. Sometimes I become unable to type in game, in the Steam client. I can still use hotkeys and even press Enter to focus the chat input field, but when I try to type nothing happens. I'm not sure, but I might have used the Steam overlay prior to the bug occuring. Restarting the client makes it work again.

So far just been exploring around a bit and I think it would be nice to maybe meet up with some other new players and kind of get together and figure things out together. Little About Me: 29, been playing Wurm off and on for about a decade. Been fooling around a lot lately in WU ever since I heard Steam was having a WO release. I was a decently skilled Chainsmith on WO, and played as a Villager on Freedom. Eventually moving to Xanadu to create my own deed. I had a lot of fun with it but eventually moved to WU to setup my own server for some friends/villagers who wanted to move off WO. Server Start Plan (roughdraft): Push through the inevitable server issues on release day, find the nearest coast, drop a deed in a good spot, terraform/setup mine, build a 2 story headquarters for crafting/beds, scout area for resources/terraform makeshift dock, push to Corbita. Once we get to the final stage of the plan, im not too concerned what everyone ends up doing but until then I would like people to help push. The server's dimensions include 12 PVE islands and a central PVP island. We have a great deal of mods, please visit our website to see the full list at link below. At present, main events are focusing on server projects, rather it is working on the starting towns or building roads. They occur every two weeks on Thursdays at 7pm (GMT -8).   23. What would you like to see in the starter town on the new servers? What do you think would provide the best induction experience for new players? What do you think should be avoided? There has been a bit of discussion of this in other threads, and Haven's Landing has had a lot input and a lot use to see what works or doesn't. I found Wurm in late 2019, and I haven't been to HL since my first week or two. I do have some thoughts, though; The resource gathering areas are good to have grouped around the spawn point, but it would be even better to have them also interlinked so you can go straight from one to the next as the tutorial leads you through them, with clear signposts. The town itself should be easily navigable - either a basic grid of streets or a good old "main street" up the middle (buildings one side, resource areas the other). Buildings should be clearly named as well as signed. There were several buildings I remember from HL that I think were player-made (but can't be sure) and were not of obvious function. I also remember several locked buildings and yards (which may have been in the perimeter, but at that point I didn't even know the terms "deed" or "perimeter". There were many abandoned carts. I've seen used car lots with fewer vehicles. There were so many parked near the bartender that I initially thought they were there for free-use by newbies (like the bartender was there for free food & drink), and I found it frustrating and confusing that were unusable. Zonalized the creature spawns would be great. This already happens somewhat with some creatures (crocodiles, tortoises, scorpions). If the the area near starter towns spawn more rats & wildcats new players get some experience plus access to pelts. Wolves not far away so players know that it does get tougher, and keep the bears and other tougher agros spawning further from the starter towns. That way the starter town would not just be like a walled city where everything is provided within the walls but step outside and it's lions, tigers and bears, oh my! It would be the safest place, with the safety dropping off as you move further away. Newbies could stay in town for a couple of days, venture into the close surrounds to get a taste of risks while still being able to supply at the town, and when they are ready, venture out into the wilds. Kill every new player once. I am not kidding. As part of the tutorial, preferably, have the player do something like attack a tough but normally docile creature so that they experience the dynamic of dying, respawning, recovering gear and burying their corpse. These are all purely my own opinion. What's yours?
  24. I see that you are launching on Steam in hopes to find new players. That's a good idea. Problem is, as a long time player (and one not playing right now), Wurm will never appeal to more than it does now if you don't change the way combat works. It doesn't matter how much you focus on the UI or graphics. Those are all fine and dandy if you don't make at least combat more engaging. This is too niche of a game to retain anyone with "sit and watch your character's text scroll" combat. It also doesn't matter if combat is a little more detailed at higher skill, no player is going to stick around after the first few months to find out it gets a touch better. Combat is a huge deciding factor in what players enjoy in a game, and right now, combat in Wurm is terribly dull. You mostly have a crafting game with "watch my character fight" combat thrown in. Fix combat and you'll get a much better player retention. Older players who like it the way it is are a minority in the gaming world, and if you want to be successful, and even have pvp be something attractive to new players you really need to fix combat. Like now. Just my two coppers.
  25. First, Wurm is one of my favourite games. But now I have troubles which makes it unplayable, when I'm streaming the game over steam. When I want to look around, the camera direction make unpredictable big jumps. No matter if I use the left mouse button or the Space bar binding. What I can say is: The further my mouse pointer is away from the center of the window, the bigger these jumps are. Many games set the mouse pointer to the screen center on mouse look and use the delta position of the mouse move to calculate the rotation amount. Maybe this seem not to work here. Anyone have the same issues or even better an idea how to solve this? Many Thx to all of you P.S.: Question posted in steam forum too (which lead me here).
