  1. Hi my name is Alexgopen and I am looking to sell my deed named Snow in the Celebration server as I am moving to a new location. It covers an area of 13 east/west by 17 north/south, has a spirit templar, and is found at coordinate 26x 17y. It has a copper/silver mine as well as an iron mine. Any items I leave in bsbs, fsbs, chests, etc are yours to keep. Horses I leave on deed are also yours. You are free to stop by to take a look for yourself, but I have also taken screenshots for your convenience, found here>>> http://imgur.com/a/s5eY3 I am willing to negotiate on a price, though I will likely be away for the next two days. Feel free to post here on the forums with any questions or offers, or PM me ingame.
  2. I'd like to add a suggestion/petition thread for adding winter back into wurm for the week of Christmas (22-29th of december). It seems pointless to have winter/christmas in wurm...in the bright foliage of summer/fall. I miss when snow covered wurm for 2 or 3 weeks only in december and so I'd like to ask that snow be added in at the end of the month. Thanks
  3. Hey there Everyone, Smithor reporting on a tile sighting, straight from the test server! Now I've looked around, and I haven't seen any posts on the topic, nor a wiki page on the tile so I've created this topic on the forums to let you all know. The tile I have found, is that of snow. Now, I stumbled across this, seemingly random tile after I got lost whilst trying to obtain my things from the Red Dragon, and I've done some simple testing on it. Dropping dirt on-top of the snow tile does not change its type, simply raises it. Digging either in the corners, or in the center gives you a dirt, and does not change the tile type. It's walking sounds are the same as grass. It appears to only appear on-top of dirt, and then only at high altitudes. Now I only had limited items, as I had to drop some in the run from the dragon, and so I couldn't do any testing with a rake, nor scythe, nor sickle. I tested with the shovel, and there was no other action except for dig. There was no option for forage. Axe's had no effect on the tile. Hands did not give any additional possibilities. I also tried swinging a pendulum, but that was a long enough shot as it was. Just in case you would like to do some testing yourself, I've taken some additional reference photos. View of Lake Beside the lake. Opposite side of the mountain And finally, the Opposite side of the mountain, where I found yet more snow. Now that this is up, do whatever you want with the information, celebrate, throw parties, (try and find a way to destroy it?) If you want to get lead to this location (for the lake shown is NOT spawn lake), I will gladly lead people here. This is Smithor, from the Test Server, signing out.
  4. After having talked to people in game and reading over the forums it seems like winter is one of the more unpopular seasons in game. I believe there are some graphical changes that could be made to greatly improve the appearance and popularity of winter. Mu suggestions address what I believe to be at the heart of the issue, everything in winter looks the same, it's all snow, and relatively plain snow at that. While I believe this to be a fairly realistic portrayal, it is nonetheless monotonous and somewhat boring. Here are some things I have thought of that may reduce the monotony: Add some shading to the snow texture to imply unevenness such as that caused by wind or wet snow. Here is a link to a gallery of images of snow in other games of a variety of graphical styles and resolutions that may provide some inspiration. Have some terrain tiles look like something other than snow or muddy snow. I believe ice or ice with snow on it would be a very nice addition. I think rock tiles could work as ice, as could marsh and if possible reed and other primarily aquatic tiles. Here is a nice closeup image I found of the texture of ice that may provide insight into what I am thinking about: While the winter tress are, on the whole, very aesthetically pleasing, the smaller plants I have seen (most especially flowers but also grape vines) are rather unattractive. While there is a certain realism to this, I believe to improve the overall look of the season, some artistic license should be taken. I think the most attractive winter versions of these plants would be if they had just been covered in ice from a freezing rain storm, or perhaps if mid-season melt had cause some ice crystals to form on them or maybe even a version very similar to the original, but just covered in a light frost. Here are some examples: Obviously implementing some of these suggestions would take a fair amount of artist time/resources, but I think it would significantly improve the season that gets the least love and would help them all be more equally beautiful. If anyone else has any suggestions or comments they would be very welcome .
