I was thinking, wouldn't it be neat (it may just be me) if there was a way to be a support-fighter without being a champion or priest? Think about how dual-wielding/aggressive stance is kinda your main dps, shield-wielders are tankier and tend to have heavier armour; what about an option to add a torch as a third-choice for off-hand? WL: Inspiring Enchantment - perhaps for Magranon (as it's to lead soldiers into battle) or for Fo (healing) - my thoughts on it are, if it's a Mag enchant, Inspire could be a thing that perhaps gives a small flat FS bonus or resistance of some sort. IE, Dawnbringer (torch). It is enchanted with Inspire. Allies of the wielder in close proximity gain a small fighting skill bonus, as the light seems to shimmer brighter in the darkest of places. Alternatively, what if it was for Fo? Inspire could be a healing enchantment. May not again seem like much, but when every littel bit helps: Fo's Grace (torch). It is enchanted with Inspire. Allies of the wielder in close proximity can feel the soothing aura from this torch slowly mending their wounds over time. Again, this would have to be small so as not to be game-breaking, but. Still, could be a very neat thing. For the BL, perhaps it would be the same as Magranon's, or perhaps give a slight bleed or something similar to the wounds of their enemies. Perhaps instead it could lower the defenses slightly of their enemies - may fit Libila, a tad bit better. Hopeslayer (torch). It is enchanted with Burning Darkness. The flame is green-tinged, and it inspires fear into those that look upon it - those that aren't guided by Libila, in any case. Opinions? ~Auri. (Don't be afraid to shoot me down. Hi, After 1.0 update along the happiness of really nice new features, we all suffer from the performance of the new client. Here are some of the main issues: 1. Framerate is too low for 10 seconds after client startup - This caused by the new model format. Collada is not designed for games, so not optimal to parse all xml data at startup, also multi-story buildings may increase the data being streamed at startup from the server. Solution: it will be possible to cache the calculated data, serializing to binary format then deserialize it so no parsing necessary - this would eliminate these kind of problem 2. No way to turn back to non-animated old models Players who need less memory usage, had an option to lower the tree models, visible distance etc. Now with 1.0 the player and animal models stay as high like the new ones, no option to select lower poly or optimized versions for lower graphics settings. Only just the animation phases can be reduced. Solution: add old or new lower count formats and ability to switch back to lower settings. 3. No way to run as much clients as before, in parallel The style of this game allows players to use multiple alts (priests and main char, and now alts for the new servers) parallel. This benefit for the players and for the developers because of paid prem count. Before 1.0 an instance of a client used 300M-500M. After 1.0 update, it now using 800M-1.5G. This will reduce the possibility of multi client play which is bad, because the paid prem accounts will became non-prem some months after 1.0 release, due to lack of usability. Also when the new servers will lost interest, this will happen with the alts on there too (or with the old main chars). This problem also related to point 1. and even if a memory leak removed the client's memory fingreprint is a bit too high compared to other games. My suggestion is to able to use multiple chars inside one client - I know this might be a bigger piece of work but it will worth both from a view of prem players and both from view of the developers (more paid prem accounts and keeping the number of current ones). Solution: This can work to let the possibility to run multiple characters inside one client. Like that way to have tabs or character faces which you can click and switch to the alts. No extra memory needed just a few changes in communication code - using one instance of java wm this can be also achieved to use a shared storage for objects on the same machine. Benefits: the client will load all models/graphics once, use less memory. P.S. I think this is a great game but it can be more user/os friendly. I wrote this thoughs without knowing the current structure of the game just seeing where the bottlenecks are - as an experienced game developer my suggestions may count, please fix me if anything I found is work different already.

So i'm debating starting an alt priest. I'm aware of the length of time it takes to get them to a usable level and I'm not thinking of this as some form of easy money, just part of the game I haven't done yet. Don't want to buy an account as I want to experience the whole process. Yes i'm masochistic, i'm playing wurm aren't I? Thinking I might as well start now due to the time requirements. I've read through the wiki on them particularly Sincors guide update (+1 by the way, was interesting read) so I have a general idea of what's going on, but some questions have occured to me. Any assistance you folks could give me in anwsering them or just advice in general would be most appreciated. Fo's out of the running, just not my cup of tea (no offense to Fo priests past, present or future). Mag is nice with the mining (main is a going to be a smith) and strongwall is certainly a useful spell, but not really seeing alot else that interests me. Leaning towards Vynora due to the enchants eventually. Just think they would be helpfull with the smithing and Vynora's don't seem to need to move off deed for much which would be a plus. Do you see anything i'm really leaving out that I should be taking into account? How fast does alignment drop? I saw how in the wiki it is related to you faith, but was that equation per hour, day, week?? Just wondering how difficult it is to keep this up since it affects channeling. How difficult would it be to run both accounts at once from a playing perspective? I'm thinking I would have the priest do the farming and cooking and then just sit on the dock queing up fishing for soul depth while I go about my business. Seems like the fishing would leave me able to have most of my concentration on my main. I know the channeling and praying part would require a little more involvement, but it would take me a bit to even get to the point I would be working on channeling and I know the soul depth is a big deal. The priest will essentially be tied to my main so i'm not really seeing a need for any crafting skills. Is there any real need to do any of that if the priest is going to be supported by the main? I think that's about it, apologize for the wall of text. Thank you for your responses ahead of time and hints/tips from the professionals are always welcome .
