  1. Crystal Bay Estates - Finndar Hi Everyone! Patch day has come and gone, and the java update issues have been addressed. We're aware of the horse and cart issues, as well as the water sources, and will be looking at that over the weekend. There's lots to share this week, so let's jump in! But first... Valrei overhaul So we mentioned we'll be sharing some more details about the valrei system and the planned overhauls some time ago, and now it's time to share! So let's jump into it. We have some planned changes for Valrei, the mission system, and Epic in general. These changes are well underway and due in the next few weeks to a month or so. To start off, with the larger number of player gods that have been added to the game over the past few years, it is necessary to look at how those gods impact the Valrei board. Coming with this set of changes will be player gods being removed from the Valrei board once they are changed from demigods into full gods. When a player uses a Key to the Heavens, they will still be added to the Valrei board as a static entity paired to their god, but once their god wins a scenario may become a full god and removed from the board. When this happens the player god will still generate missions for players to complete, but these missions will not directly affect the Valrei board in any way or give scenario points. Scenario rewards are also being changed slightly. Coming with this update will be a requirement for players to be premium in order to be rewarded scenario points as well as karma upon completing a mission. If the player that participated in the mission is non premium, they will only be rewarded karma and sleep bonus, but not scenario points. At the end of a scenario, there will be 3 tiers of rewards The top tier will be available to those with the top 20% of scenario contributors, and contain the highest rewards of a single use tome, or a small chance of a Key to the Heavens or dragon egg for those in the top 5%. After this tier will be a second set of winners for the top 50% of contributors where there will be 3 prizes of a yet to be announced item. The final tier for the full 100% of contributors will have 5 chances for either the above unannounced item, or a moon metal lump. This will only impact the Epic servers, as Freedom does not receive scenario rewards. In addition to the above is a full rework of all mission types, difficulty and rewards. Some existing missions will be removed, some new mission types will be added, and we’ll be going over all mission types to make sure that their difficulty to complete, and reward amounts (of karma, sleep bonus and scenario points) scale properly to the difficulty of the mission. As a larger overall change to this system, the difficulty tiers will be changing from a system of 1-4 to a system of 1-7, where the difficulty of the mission is determined by the number of successful missions in a row for that god as opposed to the number of source items that god is currently holding on Valrei. This means as more missions for a given god are completed, the difficulty and rewards of the mission will increase. This applies both to Epic and Freedom, where an additional bonus on Epic will be increased help for the given god, reducing their move timer more depending on the mission difficulty. Similar to now, some missions will be available in friendly territory, and some will be available in enemy territory only according to the difficulty. As mentioned above, the sleep bonus and karma rewards for participating in a mission will be changing from a flat 1000 karma and 30min sleep bonus per mission, instead scaling with the difficulty of the mission with the very low difficulties giving less than the current defaults, and the higher difficulties giving more than the current defaults. There are also more changes planned for Valrei and Epic in general, but we’re not quite ready to release details of these changes yet. More info about these will come in the near future. All caged up A long requested addition is the ability for creatures to be loaded into vehicles, and I have a very special surprise this week, without further ado... That's right, in a coming up date creatures will be able to be loaded into cages, and onto vehicles! Different creatures will take different volumes, and they will need to be led prior to being loaded (meaning no ships full of spiders!) Upon crossing servers they retain all info about traits. Parentage and cared for status will return upon returning to the original server. Highway testing push we're gearing up our public testing of the new highway system in anticipation of releasing it with the next big update! We'll be looking at how best to organise public testing, but the best thing you can do is jump on the test server and play around with paving the catseyes and building highways! The ongoing discussion thread with the technical gory details can be found here: Wonders of Celebration Iberis (known ingame as Hexd and Mizova) is at it again! This time she's taking her sightseeing tour to Celebration and is looking for your input on what's great to see across the server. If you have a suggestion, or know a landmark she might want to check out, let her know! Community content This weeks community content is a video by qwizat, with a tour of his twin deeds eden and dune. His village is open to all new players, so if you're looking for somewhere to start your journey, contact him! There's a lot coming in the next few updates, and we haven't even begun to tease you all about the new skill coming to Wurm, what is it? You'll just have to wait and see Until then though, keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  2. Unknown deed - Seriphina Hi Everyone! Another patch down, and all new content for Wurm! This patch did have a hiccup with some clients, but this has been rectified for the most part, if you are having issues with the screen going black when entering a mine in unstable, turning on (or off) FXAA in post processing can help. But first... Patch Notes Unstable work As you may have noticed, work on the unstable client has continued, with the new post processing tab in settings with some new options Bloom - Added feathered glow to light edges FXAA - Anti Aliasing with better performance than existing AA in advanced graphics Vignette - Darkening window border this is of course on top of more performance work, and some big steps in memory management and overall look and feel, it's close to becoming the stable client, so make sure you try it out and get any and all issues back to us to address! Of course, when this goes stable there will be a brief crossover period where the old client is still available, but we'd rather have the unstable one running as smooth as possible first, which requires you! Tree size changes As noted in the patch notes yesterday the size of olive trees and chestnut trees has been reduced considerably, this is a preliminary step towards returning tree collisions. Many wurmians will know the pain of wandering through olive forests and getting eaten by spiders, so this will go a long way towards improving that "experience" while bringing back the immersion of trees blocking paths. Celebration creature tests As mentioned in Buddas devblog we've begun testing new creature movement code using Celebration as a live test run. We're looking for feedback on how animals behave and move around both in pens and the wild. Leave your feedback on this thread, but please do remember to keep it specific to feedback about the movement, off topic discussions and such might be removed. Epic buildings and Freedom This next update will introduce the ability to place a deed over Epic mission structures. This is a Freedom only feature at this point, and deeding over a mission structure will disqualify it from being used in missions. So if you do use any shrines or other mission buildings to protect land, be warned that this will no longer be the case! New wall textures the new wall textures are in the works, with current focus on introducing the following types Tall wall Portcullis fence Parapet High iron fence High iron fence gate Chain link fence These will of course come in the sandstone, slate, rounded stone, marble, rendered, and pottery textures. There may also be more fence types in the works, but they will come at a later date. I hope to have some sneak previews in the coming news, so stay tuned for that! Community Content This weeks community content comes from Zephyr Storm visiting the Mystic Highlands server with an awesome introduction and showcase, I do hope it turns into an ongoing thing, as I really enjoyed this! That's it for this week, I hope you all have a good weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  3. Unknown deed - Wiczan Glad Midsommar! Another busy week with the dev team, with the new bridges out of the way, what might be next? You'll have to read and find out But first.. Patch Notes More fences! With the release of the new textures and fences, many were asking about other possibilities, such as parapets, tall walls and other things. As we stated then, this work requires several major changes to expand possible fence types, and would be a little more intensive than simply adding the textures. I'm pleased to announce that this is a project currently underway, with the tall stone wall, portcullis, high iron fence/gate, stone parapet fences receiving the textures of slate, rounded stone, pottery brick, sandstone, rendered, and marble! This probably begins some players third or fourth deed remodels, but with more options available, who's complaining? Champion changes This week saw the changes of champions and how they work, going from a cap of 3 per god and 3 per kingdom to 1 per god per kingdom and 3 per kingdom. This means all kingdoms have equal opportunity of choosing their champions, so choose well! With this addition, Mol-Rehan kingdoms can now choose Fo and Vynora champions as well, with Jenn-Kellon kingdoms able to choose Magranon as a champion. Of course Libila remains HotS only. Midsummers on Xanadu Tomorrow is the launch of our Midsummer event on Xanadu, with a special unique prize for those who complete it. We have a sneak peek of the prize to tease you all with today! This unique Midsummers themed mask will only be available through this event, which will be open until the end of July, so make sure you get in and solve the mystery! Performance monitoring Over the coming weeks we'll be adding extra performance monitoring on servers, starting with a smaller undisclosed server. With this system we'll be able to track performance better and identify any areas of concern, which hopefully leads to tweaks and modifications to address the issues. This won't be run on the same server as the creature changes, but we'll of course continue to update you all as the weeks go on, showcasing the results and our goals for the future. Community Content This is slightly older, but forum user Iberis (Hexd) has been all over Exodus and is showing off her travels! Check out the sights and wonders of Exodus, I cannot wait to see where she goes next! That's it from us this week, I hope to see you all this weekend! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  4. Hi everyone! A big update today with underground bridges coming to Wurm! Underground housing was released just over a year ago, and it's come a huge way since then, with paving, new reinforcing, and now the bridges, what could be next? who knows... But first... Patch Notes Creature features So this week saw the devblog of Buddas touching on how the current mob AI works, as well as some plans to improve on that and hopefully see some better spreading of creatures across the servers. There'll be a bit of testing on the test server, then we'll move to one of the smaller servers, both to test that the system works in spreading out creatures as well as doesn't impact performance. It's an exciting change to come, so I'm keen to see how it plays out! Midsummers in Xanadu Hinted last week we'll be having a midsummer's event on Xanadu! The reason we chose Xanadu is because this event will run around a central location accessed from all starter deeds (much like the labyrinth). You won't need to bring a horse or travel, and since we'll have a special event only reward, people from Epic will be able to request a transfer ot the reward from Freedom to Epic! The event will start on Saturday the 24th of June at 16:00 server time (UTC+1) and will open from all starter deeds! WU beta delay Once we were sure that cave bridges would be coming out in this update we made the decision to delay the beta in time for this release, ensuring that the next beta will have lots more in it! I know it can be frustrating waiting for it to hit WU, but I can definitely say it's worth the wait. Player texture performance improvements This update also sees some improvements to player textures, meaning better performance in crowded areas such a PvP, events, and unique fights. We'll continue to monitor events like these to identify areas we can improve. Cooking poll This week saw a poll launched to follow up on rarity of ingredients, tools, and cookers affecting the resulting affinity of a meal. The poll is having some issues running on Xanadu, but you can cross servers to place a vote in if you still need to vote you can! We'll have the results of that poll in next weeks news. Community Content We talked about this last week, but it's here! The Factional Fight brothers are back with an awesome showcase of Linton. It's an amazing starter deed and they really put a lot of work into it, so you'll have to forgive me for milking it. Check out the video here in our brand new Showtime theatre, where you can share videos for both Wurm Online and Wurm Unlimited! If you have a video you'd like to have moved from from the artists bench please just report the post and our friendly mods will move it! That's it from us this week, I know you'll all be busy building, so keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  5. The Golden Hive Market - Alyeska and Xallo Hi Everyone! Some big news this week, with a long awaited request finally able to be revealed! But first... Patch Notes What's that sound? Bridges underground! Thought the new bridge types was all the coming things for bridges? Guess again! Since bridges first came to Wurm, many have asked about the possibility of underground bridges, and with the coming update, this will be a reality! Bridges underground will check for clearance of the ceilings, but apart from that, will operate exactly how they do above ground. I'm keen to see what you all come up with, that's for sure! DNS Issues I'd like to thank you all for your patience and understanding during the server connectivity issues this week, you worked very hard to help each other stay connected. We hope you all enjoy the extra premium, and spend the sleep bonus wisely! As an additional reminder, if you did name any hard coded changes to get around the issue, please make sure to change those back! Linton reworked! Linton, aka the barren starter deed, has had a makeover! The team consisting of Griphyth, Faeran, Killroth and Karena have spent a lot of work building this up into an amazing starter town, with possibly the best lookout I've ever seen! I'm sure you'll all agree, it's a huge improvement on the original deed, and I'm thrilled with the results! Highway info! So with the upcoming release of the highway system we've started a thread with the information of what's behind the highway system, there's a brief rundown with a more in depth document available, so feel free to read through and ask any questions. Don't forget though, it's currently live on the test server, and we'll be working on a more official testing period soon! Community Content This weeks content is more of a question, with the suggestion of adding a specific sub-forum for videos, this would be a great opportunity for posting video tutorials, showcases, and plenty more! Would you like to see that done? let us know here! That's it for this week, I'm sure you're all excited for the bridges coming, I know i am! Until next time, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  6. The White turtle castle - Gofs (Picture by Evening) Hi everyone! Another week down, and we've been hard at work! Want to know what? Just read on! But first... Patch Notes WU update The beta version of the next WU update will be coming early next week, with everything up to yesterdays update going into it, this means the new bushes and almanac features will be coming, with the new bridge textures and features coming in the next update. Combat log updates With the next update we'll have a big change to how the combat log works, with the addition of more colours to differentiate different actions and also your relation to the other parties of the fight! Not only this, but these colours can be set by using the text colours of the client as shown This means that you'll be able to customise your combat log to suit your personal preferences, and keep your eye on the fight that much better! Creature combat improvements Work has begun on improving creature combat, and first off the rank is the Uttacha! These combat improvements will be coming to Epic in the next update, if you want to find out what the new moves are, you'll have to wait and see for yourselves! Map Dumps Just over six months ago we released the last map dumps, and I'm pleased to say new ones are in the works! We don't have a release yet, but they may come in with the new highway system being launched, so keep your eyes peeled! Paving on bridges Final touches with the big changes to bridges are in the works, with underground bridges and the paving under testing and tweaking, I'm super keen to see this come, and can't even begin to imagine all the plans you have currently going on, I want to see them all! Midsummer fun Midsummers is a big tradition in Sweden, and we've got a special event planned for it! On the weekend of the 24th of June we'll be launching an event on Xanadu, with a unique prize for completing it. What is the prize? You'll just have to wait and see... Factional fight is back! I'm thrilled to see the Factional Fight guys back in action, with their awesome new introduction. Anyone not familiar with their videos will HAVE to spend the next few days brushing up on them all, they've been companions to many a wurmians grinding days, and I can imagine we're all keen on seeing their new video next week! That's it for this week, I look forward to sharing more with you all next time, but until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  7. Port catnip lighthouse by day - Iberis This week marks two changes in our team while we work on the addition of new bridge types and the highway system, there's a bit to share on these two but first... Patch Notes Team additions Many of you may know Jberg as GM Logi, a long standing member of the staff team, and constant pesterer of pingpong. He has made the decision to join us as a developer and donate even more time to helping the game improve and grow. I'd like to be the first to welcome him to the team and I look forward to his contributions! Our other addition is an extremely hard working wiki editor, Wolfey, will be stepping up to the role of Assistant Wiki Manager, under Seedlings, who said the following: If you'd like to help improve the wiki, we have both team and non team positions available, to check out the differences and apply, read here: More bridge work! Along with the new textures (and the rendered one shown below) we have something else coming with the new bridges, and that is the ability to prepare and pave any bridge surface, allowing you all to continue fancy roadways across them! This is an early work, and there's a lot to work out, but we're keen on seeing these come to life and what you'll all do with them! We also have the rendered bridge available for preview now too! Highway system The highway system changes are undergoing internal testing currently (with the test server being covered in expanding roads) but there's a lot to go over, and at times it can be quite technical. Over the coming week we'll be looking at documentation for those who like to get into the nitty-gritty of the system, as well as a short guide in laymans terms. We'll then run some public testing and use the feature feedback board to answer your questions about how they work in specific situations. Community Content Normally I try to avoid covering similar things in a short timeframe with the community content, but I've had no fewer than 7 people contact me about Iberis's tour of deliverance video, it's an amazing video and SHE has done an excellent job showing the beauty of deliverance, so without further ado, enjoy! That's it for this week from us, I hope you all have a great weekend, and as usual, keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  8. All is pristine - Kasumi Hi Everyone! First of all, apologies for the hiccup with last nights update, I hope you're all enjoying the additions (I've seen many of you running around scribbling down reports!) and look forward to some information on what's to come, but first... Patch Notes Update issues While we endeavour to test everything we can some times we cannot replicate enough scenarios on test before things go live, or they have completely unintended side effects. We really do appreciate everyone understanding and we will be making some changes to ensure that if things like this happen again a rollback wouldn't be such a painful option. Hopefully it's not one that's needed any time soon, but we'd like to know that if such a situation occurs we can remedy the situation with much less impact than the potential loss. We're still looking into a decision regarding compensation, and will update you all accordingly. If you lost a vein and would like it replaced please log a support ticket for our GM team to handle that, it takes a little bit of time to do so as we verify from our info, but they will all be processed as fast as possible. More Bridges?! Hot off the heels of the new house textures, comes our new bridge textures! Just the way to style up your deed, we'll be introducing these beautiful works! Sandstone Slate Pottery Round Stone As you can see, they're absolutely gorgeous, and will delay my deed choices even further `Wurmpedia improvements We've also been at work behind the scenes with the wurmpedia, and will be introducing three new namespaces: Historical - This will be used for official Wurm data that is no longer present in the game (for example, old maps to servers that don't exist, removed features). Anyone with an editor account can access these pages, but not user accounts. Lore - This will be used for player-made stories and history, and can be accessed on user accounts. Guides - Player-made guides will go here. We will have some official bias-free guides on the wiki in the main namespace, but anything else can go in this namespace. Accessible by user accounts. These namespaces will help users write their own stories, store old information, and write new guides, so it's a great day for the wiki, and therefore, the game. Community content This weeks community content comes from eyesgood, who celebrated his EIGHTH year in wurm by dedicating a little poem to it, and I think it's awesome Here's to eight more! That's it for this week folks, I hope you're as keen for the bridges as I am, until then though, keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  9. Rendered lighthouse - Yaga With this weeks update out of the way, we begin to look forward to our next content update, so updates will be light until then (if at all), but there's plenty coming! We'll be showcasing a few things over this period, detailing what to expect and just how awesome it will be, but first... Patch Notes Eye of the...cat? Some keen eyes spotted glowing green objects in last weeks shots, and I'm sure many of you have been wondering about their function. Today we unveil the beginning of our plans for a revamped highway system! Freedom highway rules have long been a necessity to ensure ongoing infrastructure does not disappear overnight, but often winds up being a slow process with paperwork and permissions. With this in mind, we've been taking steps to return the majority of control into players hands with highways, with a new highway system. Those items are called catseyes, and are the foundation of a huge new highway system, allowing players to build, link, and protect highways across all PvE servers without requiring GM assistance and permissions. The system will involve connecting existing routes to highways and also come with a waypoint system, providing markers to local villages (when opted in) and starter deeds. Navigating your way around the server, identifying the nearest starter town and local villages will be a breeze. Villages can also choose not to be included in the waypoint marking, although any highways running through a village will mean KOS is not possible (this will now be enfored with mechanics rather than general rulings). Altering the highway is not possible without removing link protection and rerouting meaning less paperwork for the GM team and also smoother operations for you all. This won't mean the elimination of all highway rules, wanton destruction of highways and other abuses will still fall under freedom rules, but less necessity in requiring GM approval, and also allows caves to be protected too! What will change with this is the redefining of what consists of a highway, In the past single paved roads bordered by sand (gravel is okay!) have also been included, with the release of this it will be strictly 2 or 3 tile wide paved roads, so if you wish to update any single tile paths in your area in anticipation of this new system please do log a support ticket. There will also be an overlap period to allow existing highways to be marked with the new system upon its release, giving everyone plenty of time to understand the new system when it launches (we will be working extensively with the wiki team to ensure that all information is provided prior to the update) so don't worry about being caught off guard WU live The latest beta will go live to Wurm Unlimited some time next week, stick in our discord or follow us on Facebook to know the exact date closer to its release Dev team expansion This week we’d like to welcome Keenan to the dev team even more than currently with his contracted hours increasing so he is now officially a part time developer for Wurm. His focus in the short term will be mostly on backend systems and a few different projects that have been sitting on the backburner waiting for someone skilled enough to take control of them, but we wish him luck in his work and having to deal with Budda on a more regular basis. We’d also like to welcome Ausimus to the team who has recently joined as a volunteer developer as well. After much experience working with Wurm Unlimited code and creating mods, he has already made his mark with a couple of bug fixes that went live with this weeks update. Community Content This weeks community content is already extremely well known, her project has been features in massively OP, vice, and several other sites too, so I'd like to take a moment to show you all just how awesome it is!z Our very own Malena has been hard at work in recreating the world of Ultima Online in Wurm, and it's amazing, check out the first video in her series here!: Check out the full thread of her adventures here! Caption this!Following from the awesome captions from our last contest, I've decided to host another, with this weeks top caption receiving a key for 1 months premium. This caption comes from the citizens of san escobar, with the amazing Wurm car! That;s it for this week! Next week we'll cover a few more things coming in the next update, so I'll see you all then. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  10. Elentari is a monster Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a good Easter break, I know I did! We're still in the follow up phase to our latest update, addressing a few bugs that have arisen as well as the usual post-live tweaks, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work, but first... Patch Notes Reinforcing in style Reinforced walls are quite boring, and with the introduction of new house walls, our devs got to thinking.... Coming soon to a cave near you, we'll be introducing stylish reinforcements! These will be created with improved reinforcement beams and really decorate your cave! We're also looking at cave floors as well, but no confirmation on that yet. CA Help Merging following some back end changes for us, we'll be merging CA help across all freedom servers next update. once it's done we'll monitor it over the next week or so to ensure that it still flows smoothly and will be able to revert it if it proves to be too chaotic. With this done we'll also begin looking at options for addressing CA help on Epic servers, and will be working towards a resolution that improves new player experiences on Epic servers while still meeting our conduct requirements. WU beta We're still in the process of ironing out some bugs appearing within the new housing update, and once theyre done we'll have a beta up for WU, we expect that to be available within the week, with the live version following shortly after Gloomshade revamp Excited to play with the new walls, Enki and I had our turn updating the starter deeds, and this time it was Gloomshades turn! The HotS Elevation starter deed has been given a bit of a revamp, and I'm totally biased) Community Content This weeks community content I found while looking through the huge collection of WU screenshots, and it has to be the most amazing wagon design I've ever seen. I don't know what server it's from, but if it's yours, let me know so I can update this! Future PMK's, take note! That's it for this weekend, I hope you all have a good weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  11. And we're live with the new housing update! I know everyone's busy hunting sandstone and making bricks (red brick for me!) so this week will be a short recap before the Easter long weekend, but first... Patch Notes Housing update Naturally the big part of this update is the huge expansion to house types, and I'm excited to see just what you all come up with now, I know that there are other desired wall types and fences and we'll keep this in mind as we move forward. We're always expanding and addressing limitations as we meet them and this is no different. We will undoubtedly continue to provide more options as time goes on, just plenty else to work on as well while we do. Easter We're nearing the eve of the anniversary of the horrific bunny massacre of 2016, and I'd like to take the moment to wish you all a happy and safe Easter, don't party too hard on the chocolate eggs! Hot Cross buns! We've also released a new recipe for hot cross buns to celebrate Easter! Hot cross buns are my favourite part about Easter, and I think it's pretty cool to see some more holiday themed recipes come in, we may just do more later... WU Beta With the launch of the housing update, we'll begin looking at a WU beta to come out in the next week or two with the update, there's a few changes to things that may need some modders to check in the beta but it shouldn't last long before going live. Community Contest winner! There were quite a few good entries, and it came close to some (Who doesnt love Star Wars references?) but the winner of this contest is MacOofer with the following: To claim your prize, shoot me a PM MacOofer! The amount of people who took the time to add their ideas was awesome, will definitely have to repeat this in the future! There's a lot more already being worked on, and I'm keen to begin sharing it with you all in preparation for its launch, but that may be a few weeks away still. I'll be back next week with more news and showing off just what we've been up to on our side, but until then week, keep on Wurming! Happy Easter, Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  12. Milosanx on a rare trip down to water level Hey everyone! This week saw the changes to conversion come live, and the positive feedback has been noticed! We're working on a few things and will have more to share as they flesh out, but one thing is coming to the test server this weekend! but first... Patch Notes The Cowtapult! Those of you who follow us on Facebook may have already seen this, but we've been hard at work improving siege weapon mechanics, and first up is the catapult and trebuchet! Catapults and trebuchets should damage creatures, houses, fences, bridges and items that the projectile hits Clarification: It will hit ALL walls if it hits multiple. It will only hit one non wall item on the tile it lands on The new mechanics for them operate similarly to how they currently work, with focus on improving how the physics calculations are performed and remove those weird cases where they don't hit anything. We'll be setting up some testing scenarios such as house on a tall dirt wall and such over the weekend for you to check out, but we'd also like to know what scenarios you want to check out, so feel free to share ideas that you'd like us to setup for you to test. Our priority is getting all of them tested with different projectiles, distances and skill levels in PvP and PvE Scenarios both on and off deed to ensure they're balanced when they go live, so stay tuned for the test thread opening some time this weekend Variety is the spice of life Not one to rest on their laurels, the devs have been working hard on a long desired addition to the building, new house walls! This is a huge addition, with six new building types: Rendered wall Marble wall Pottery brick wall Round brick wall Sandstone brick wall Slate brick wall Pottery and sandstone Round stone and Rendered Marble and Slate That's not all though, there's new fence types to match the housing types, as well as a few additions and changes the paving! there will be a few new paving types, as well as a few changes to existing ones: Round cobble will use a new item round stone (same as round brick housing) Rough cobble will use Colossus bricks Slate slabs will be created by a chisel on combined slate shards like other slabs and some new pavement types you'll have to wait and see! The basics are up (without graphics) for internal testing, we'll have more info on the new types and a full list in next weeks news, this was far too exciting not to share though! Community Content This weeks community content is about a lost horse! Poor Rageed traveled off on his own one fateful night, and sparked fear for his safety in the heart of Ayuna, who cared for him. Luckily though, he was recovered safe and sound! Have you had a favourite pet? That's it from us this week, I'll see some of you on test, but until then, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  13. Foggy Docks Hi Everyone, A huge week for WU, with 1.3 finally landing, and what an impact! I've seen fantastic meals, pink bee hives, and cows no taller than your knee (the mods some people think of!) We've got a bit to cover though, so here goes! But first... Patch notes Deliverance maintenance On the 11th of march at 1400 server time we'll be taking down deliverance for some extended maintenance to address the hanging issues that have occurred recently. This will be a slightly longer maintenance, at around 2-3 hours, so if you want to play, maybe it's time to take a holiday to Exodus, or Release! 1.3 in WU and sale Wurm Unlimited has been abuzz this week with 1.3 finally landing, it's taken a while but WU is now filled with al lthe awesome content we've had for a few months. If you're looking to get in on the action, it's currently on sale at 33% off! We'll also be looking at more WU specific subforums over the coming weeks, for WU specific suggestions, and bettert bug reporting too, so keep eyes peeled. More animations Today also sees more animations come to the game, with the following being introduced: Groom Pull Throw (combat and snowballs) Take Drop These will continue to create that more immersive feel when playing and we'll continue to look at animations that increase that as we go on. Hell horse and horse gear This update also saw the hell horse colours, as well as hell horse equipment and bridles (bridles are awaiting a client update due out shortly!) The hell horse colours are incredibly awesome, and I have to say, this one is definitely my favourite, but which is it? dun dun dun.... Esert makeover As many of you know, we ran the Esert starter deed makeover competition this week, and a clear winner by a mile was the redesign! I'm keen to see this design come to life, so congratulations to Joelle and crew. You'll have to keep your eyes peeled on the area! Community content So this weeks community content is a little different. With 1.3 out in WU youtube streamer Weem is back, and this time he brought friends! Weem did a fantastic series of WU on the Mythmoor server and starting tomorrow he's launching his new series - called Follywood - on the otherlands server. I can't wait to see it, and in the mean time, I strongly suggest checking out his previous series here: That's it from me this week, I hope you all have an awesome weeekend cooking and crafting, and as always, keep on Wurming! - Retrograde & the Wurm team
  14. Lava Fiend by Yldrania Hi everyone! Another week down as we move through February, and we continue with some awesome art updates! But first... Patch Notes Hella Stylish Long awaited updates to hell horses and showing off your gear are on their way! With saroman hard at work, studying under Xzibit , he's gotten the best info on just how to bling out a hell horse! Translation: Saddles and barding will soon be visible! Leather Barding Chain barding Gold chain barding Cloth Barding That's not all though, can you play spot the difference? Tutorial sprucing up As you all know a major overhaul of Golden Valley and the tutorial is in the works, but for the short term we've adjusted a few parts of the tutorial deed, Gateways. Adjusting the flow to make the tutorial a little more obvious, as well as a few building additions. We'll continue to look at what we can tweak in the upcoming days and weeks to make sure the current one is as effective as possible until the new one is ready for testing and release Esert makeover We've had one entry for the Esert makeover, but that just makes things easy! We'll put up the entry in the Esert thread for you all to review, and choose whether to go with the new one or keep the old, expect to see that this weekend! Community Content - Masterchef Wurm style! This week's community content is a little special, because it's the competition to have YOUR recipe wind up in game! Submit your favourite dish, or the meal you loved as a kid, and you could be able to make it in Wurm Unlimted and Wurm Online! We'll be opicking 10 winners from this, and then open up voting to you all to choose the top three! The top three will get their names on the dish in both the Wurm Unlimited and Wurm Online release! Full details here: That's it from me this week, I hope you all have an awesome weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  15. Foggy eclipse, by Nordlys Hi everyone! Another week down, and we move even closer to 1.3 coming live to WU! There's still lots coming to WO though, and I'm excited to share it, but first... patch notes Just to clarify, the base boat speed without wind hierarchy is still: Knarr Caravel Corbita Cog All that has changed is that minimum speeds for the slower boats has been tweaked upwards. This cave entrance ain't big enough for the both of us, yet... Ever feel that one tile just isnt wide enough? Well soon you dont have to worry about that! Thanks to some very hard work, we'll be introducing two tile wide caves! A few things to note: Two tiles is the maximum The bottom slopes MUST BE EVEN before even opening the second one (no tricks of opening to auto flatten the bottom!) Mine doors cannot be used with this system. That's not all Another popular suggestion that's been floating around has been a little more bling to a specific mount... That's right, Coming soon unicorns will be able to be equipped with gold and silver shoes, bridles, saddles and receive the speed bonuses from them! Barding will not be able to be equipped, and the speed will be somewhere between a horse and a hell horse. WU Alpha The alpha testing for the 1.3 WU update is going smoothly with a few bugs reported to be addressed this weekend. We'll also be likely updating WU to the current patch that came out yesterday in the alpha. We're giving away some Steam keys for Wurm unlimited via Twitter and Facebook, so be sure to jump on and share your favourite Wurm tip to be in the running, we'll be giving away more over the coming week too! Community Content This weeks community content has had a fair few contenders, with some amazing shots and locations shared with me, but the one that's blown me away the most has to be the screenshot from @Kasumiof a foggy walnut forest on the unstable client. The atmosphere it sets just excites me and I can't wait until the unstable client is stable! Want to see your content in the weekly news? Shoot me a PM or post it on the forums and you just may wind up featured! That's it for this week, I for one will be trying to keep cool, and looking forward to riding my unicorn with sparkly shoes around! Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  16. Black Pearl, by Brocules Hi all, Coming straight off the back of an update with lots of cool new things, we're here with this weeks Valrei International, keeping you up to date with what's going on, so lets get into it! But first... Patch Notes Personal goals A few have noticed that their personal goals have changed, and have enquired as to whether this was intended or a bug so I'd like to go into the mechanics of it a little bit and break down what's happened. The way the personal goals work is they are generated from the list each restart, not saved to a database entry, so when new goals were added along with the 1.3 cooking update, the generation was altered. Unfortunately there's no way to rectify this without them changing again, so our plan is to wait until we have more achievements to add and will simply time it all together to minimise the impact of them changing (we'll also give warning!) PayPal issues Currently we have some ongoing issues with PayPal transactions, the issue appears to be on their side and they are currently investigating, we've manually processed the payments made over the past few days. UPDATE: The issue has now been resolved: New animations So with this update a whole bunch of new animations have come! With new fighting animations, as well as general actions, the aim is to improve visual feedback from the game, rather than relying heavily on the event window. More animations will be coming in the next few weeks too, so keep your eyes peeled! Cave testing We ran a short wide cave entrance testing period on Oracle yesterday, and I'd like to thank everyone who attended and checked them out, a few bugs were found and squished in good time, and we're thrilled we were able to release them today. This also raises the question about widening entrances on heritage sites, and after speaking with the GM team, we will be providing support for removing reinforcements on the entrances of heritage sites only. If you wish to widen a heritage site tunnel please log a support ticket and a GM will attend when available. New containers Today's patch saw two new containers come in, the storage unit and the Alchemists cupboard. The storage unit comes with 3 internal containers and is designed to store large capacity and unwieldy items such as saddles and fishing rods, they can hold a fair bit (about 1.5-2x a raft) and look pretty awesome if I may say so! The alchemists Cupboard can hold 10 different liquids, up to 2kgs per flask, and greatly slows decay on its contents. This adds a really nice look to a study in my opinion Community Content This weeks community content is from Brocules, who would like to celebrate the deed of Black Pearl turning 5, and you're all invited! The plans are as follows: I'll be aiming to attend too! (who can resist free booze?) so I hope to see you all there. That's it for this week, there's lots to play with in the latest update and I look forward to decking out my house in the new storage options. Until next time, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  17. Hi everyone! Another week down, and another edition of Valrei International! This week we cover a few things, but first, Patch notes! Leafless trees! A long desired change, felled trees now have a beautiful leafless model, meaning no more lost in a sea of tree models! The unstable client will automatically change from the falling tree animation to the static leafless version, but the stable client will require picking up and dropping the tree, or relogging. If you do encounter any bugs or crashes with the 4.0 client, be sure to list the current build number in your bug reports, which is 90ca651. Missed update notes We missed a few update notes in yesterdays update as they weren't bugs and they slipped through, here's the details: Cookbook searching This update included a change to the cookbook, with the ability to search by ingredients, cooker, container, and notes! This should allow you to ensure that you can always find the recipe you want. You can also mouse over the "Search by" field to find out just how many recipes you have, who has the highest? Larder changes The larder has also been tweaked, and should provide even more decay protection for things stored inside it, we'll be keeping an eye over them this coming Wurm winter, and will again be following all feedback about their effectiveness. Flowers and honey Flowers and enchanted grass were tweaked to provide bigger boosts to honey production during spring and summer, I know this one was asked by several so I'm sure many are happy to see it has come in. Esert update clarification A couple of questions this week about the Esert update contest, all submissions can be sent to me via PM or via email, and it will run until the 17th of Feb. The entries will then be voted upon by you in the Esert sub forum. There's no limitations in the design plans, but we may request changes if we feel they may cause too much lag or that it is missing some new player accommodations. Community Content This weeks community content is the first annual impalong ojn Mythmoor, a popular WU server! Impalongs are a long enjoyed tradition in WO and I really like seeing them come to WU as well, it starts today and runs all weekend. That's it for this week, I hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week with more news! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  18. And what a week it has been! I know there have been a few changes that garnered some negative attention this past week, I'd like to thank those who voiced their concerns and feedback in a constructive manner, we will always do our best to work with players, and compromise where we can. While the majority of you all were respectful and obeyed the forum rules, there were a few who weren't. This always leads to accusations of censorship which aren't true. Developer and staff bashing have always been against the forum and game rules, being upset with any changes occurring does not change that. But anyways, on with the news... Patch Notes PvP update A large portion of the discussed changes went live yesterday, and after a few hiccups is operating smoothly, we hope to continue working with the PvP community to address key issues and improve play. Some of the changes were to damage reduction, and as such, here are the new systems just to clarify: PvP Damage reduction information Body Strength Formula, linear line is old, curve is new. (1-(0.15*ln(x*0.8-15))) Armour type DR And modifiers by attacking type. Armour also carries bonuses for material type: +10% for glimmer, +5% for addy, +10% for seryll rare is 103%, supreme is 106%, fantastic is 109% Rift Resources As also mentioned in this weeks patch, the rift resources can now be collected! While their current use is not yet in, they can be collected and stored, other methods of obtaining them may become apparent soon too... The Shrimpalong! This week has seen announcement of The Christmas Impalong! (or as zigozag phrased it, Shrimpalong). Shrimpiie has been preparing his deed for a community staple, and you'll have to check it out, I know I'll be there! That's it for this week, hopefully we'll have some solid plans for public testing of the cooking update in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
  19. Enki pays a visit Hi everyone! Christmas is almost upon us, and I've seen a few Christmas trees floating around already! This week we'll be looking at an in depth interview with Shrimpiie, our Shrimpalong coordinator, but first... Patch notes: Shrimpalong! The 2016 Christmas Impalong launches this weekend, and our reporter in the field spent some time with Shrimpiie, the organiser to ask a few hard hitting questions: the impalong runs from the 18th of December through to the 1st of January, so make sure you stop by, check it out, and make a seafood joke or two! Full details about amenities, events and services can be found here: Rarity and cookers We initially designed the cooking system to take the rarity of the cookers (forge, oven, campfire) into account when calculating what the affinity would be, this means the same meal cooked in a rare oven will give a different affinity vs one cooked in a normal oven. Some players raised how this can seem a bit backwards, given turning a normal oven rare or better would mean having to start the collection of affinities all over again, or getting rid of it. We'd like your feedback on this, as to whether you'd like to see rarity affect the affinity, and the system stay as it is, or remove the rarity affecting the outcome. This option would mean that all recipes currently tested using a rare+ cooker would be incorrect, and you would need to start again. In both cases, rarity would boost the timer length compared to a non rare cooker. Read through others opinions and vote in the forum poll here: Fountain pans Being removed in 4 days Fountain pans are due to expire just under four days from now, so please make sure that all contents are stored appropriately, when they expire the items will move into the next container they can fit in, if they cannot fit or go over the 100 item count, they will pop out onto the floor. Racks and racks! They're updating quicker than I can tease in the news! This week saw the release of the awesome amphorae and planter racks, some of the cooler storage options, as well as allowing the loading of full items and transferring them between containers that can fit them! I got so excited about this i blew up a building in anticipation of a new greenhouse! Community Content This weeks content is of course, the impalong! Some beautiful shots of the deed custom designed for the impalong, can't wait to see lots of corpses, i mean, players! That's it for this week, enjoy the weekend, and as always, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  20. Dockfronts on The Wurm Unlimited server, hyperborea by Boyar. Hi all! Another week has gone by, and we're nearing the end of the year, with the jingle bells in the distance, and some man in a red suit being spotted all over the place. We've got a bit of news as we work on refining the massive changes in 1.3, so lets get to it! but first... Patch Notes: Seedlings steps up! After months of tireless work as the assistant wiki manager, Seedlings will be taking over as the wikipedia manager from here on out, recognising her hard work and dedication. We'll continue to be updating the wiki to incorporate all the changes that came with 1.3, so if you'd like to lend a hand, or just obtain a wiki account for general updating, feel free to fill out the form below! Alternatively, you can always post information on our wiki maintenance section of the forums, or in #wurmpedia on IRC, our wiki assistants and editors are always happy to ensure that information gets updated as soon as possible. SotG changes This update also saw Shield of the Gone changed to start kicking in at level 7, with 6% DR, scaling up each level to the full 30% DR at level 11. This change hopefully takes some of the wait off with SotG as we move forward, but we will be looking at an entire meditation overhaul in the not too distant future, covering all paths to ensure that they are fairly balanced against each other. Securing Yesterdays patch notes including an option to "secure" plantable items. Currently the list given is not fully functional due to a bug, but the new ability will allow players to secure items that could not be planted before, meaning greater protection of these items. We'll also be adding a few bash options for existing items, allowing players to remove some things that they couldn't before, and ensuring there's a way to knock secured and planted items down too 70 damage to be able to pick up when off deed. WU beta With this weeks update out and most of the bugs squished, our next major focus is on Wurm Unlimited receiving the beta update, so rest assured the wait will soon be over! The recipe system teased will be coming with this, and we will have a special section of the Wurm unlimited forum for the creation and sharing of these player made recipes (I have also heard of at least one or two recipe generation tools being worked on). Community Content This weeks community content is going back to an older mentioned one, the Wurm community radio! The radio station is up and running at http://www.lifemud.com/radio/ and they are looking for volunteer DJ's! If you like the idea of rambling to a captive audience of wurmians for up to an hour (who doesn't, I've seen you all on GL chat!) feel free to apply! That's it for this week though, we'll have more information about the WU beta over the coming week, and hopefully have a date by the end of it. Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  21. Hi everyone! Another busy week this week as we continue to address some concerns and issues with 1.3, as well as prepare for the big release in Wurm Unlimited, we're still ensuring the bugs are ironed out in WO before moving on to a beta, but expect to see it within the next few weeks! But first.. Patch Notes Recipes Keenan teased this a little bit in the WU forums but we'll have a look at it here anyways. Something that wasn't really mentioned in the WO update due to it being back end was how the recipe creating system works in the code. The exact code may be confusing for some so let me break it down a little: This represents a single recipe. Each recipe is a single file (JSON for those curious) that is stored in a recipe folder in the server folder structure. When your server starts up after a restart it checks the folder and adds any and all recipes listed in there. This means a system that is extremely flexible, and a simple restart allows you to add all the recipes you desire! Creating a recipe will be as simple as choosing what ingredients may go into it, the container and cooker used, the description and model, then sharing the file with other server admins! Wurm unlimited will be receiving a list of already known recipes to make the basic level of cooking accessible, along with the ability for server admins to customise and add their own recipes. Those who wish to write their own won't be totally in the dark, we'll be releasing a guide about how the recipe file system works and all the possible variables. I'm positive that someone will be eyeing it off, contemplating their own little tool to create recipes with ease too. Tasty! The one down side to finding out what each meal gives as an affinity is being too full to eat! To counter this we'll be adding a "taste" option in a future update, allowing players to taste a meal for a hint of the affinity they will receive, even more reason to get cooking now! The reduction in skillgain from HFC is also being looked at, and as soon as the issue is isolated it will be fixed. Nutrition changes Incase anyone missed it in the patch notes, we will be removing the CCFP wiping of Refresh, and allowing it to fill food/water/nutrition to 99, the payoff for this is the fact the CCFP bars will continue to go down without eating. We'll also be boosting nutrition values from medium+ meals served in their ideal temperatures (no one likes a hot salad). Rack 'em up! Beating me to the release is the awesome new wine barrel rack, and small barrel rack! These can hold up to 30 barrels of their corresponding type (incorrectly listed as 20 in the patch notes before I fixed them), meaning much better storage options and allows me to continue to hoard barrels like they're going out of style! Community Content This weeks community content is a little PvP related, with three new Chaos PMK's launching in the past month or so. They've been hard at work and have produced some amazing kingdom designs, I can't work out which kingdoms I like the most (though I'm open to donations!) Which one is your favourite? Pandemonium: The Crusaders: Dreadnought Dynasty: That's it for this week though! We'll continue to keep an eye on things as we work towards a Wurm Unlimited release, Until then though.. Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  22. Hi Everyone! Well, we had our first rifts opening across all servers today (a little early, so I missed out too!) but the issues that we encountered have been corrected, and fixed. We have also got the unstable client running the new rendering engine, with plenty of feedback to sort through and improve on, I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to provide your feedback and information. But with that said, on with the news! Patch Notes Wurm Online Rift Tweaking The invasion system went live this week, with the rifts opening a little earlier than anticipated (or advised) and closing even earlier! We’ve looked into why they opened early and also closed after the first run, and that has been corrected in today's update. As a result of this, we’ve reset the timers for rifts, and they will open up over this weekend, with currently 2 days warning. We’ll be implementing countdown measures as well, to ensure that players have adequate time to prepare themselves for the fight! I know there were some reports of the Rift Beasts being taken down quite easily, but don’t forget they’re the baseline grunts for these rifts, with Ogres, jackals and mages packing an incredibly strong punch! Each rift creature killed has a roughly 5% chance of dropping loot (higher for the warmaster and champions). So participation is the key to getting loot, the more you kill, the greater your chances! We’ll continue to see how the rift system goes, and adjust how often it occurs, as well as loot and warning times as things go on. Starter deeds A little delayed, but I’ll be in contact with the winners of the starter deed makeover contests this week, and organise times with the GM team in order to provide resources and such, so expect to see the new deeds soon! Cave dwellings and PvP We’ve started work on the counters for cave dwellings within PvP servers, with the awesome new battering ram! The model for it is finished, and can be shown here: We’ll have more info on the functionality and mechanics in the next news hopefully. The optional path switch feature from Path of Insanity should also be live next week, pending some inhouse testing. Wurmpedia Assistants! As many of you have read, our Wurmpedia is now managed by Keenan, and his assistant Seedlings (with random capitalisations). We are now looking for Wurmpedia Assistants to help monitor the Wurmpedia and ensure that editor updates are correct and timely. It is a proper staff position so the requirements of over 30 days playtime and good standing with the community are important! To apply, follow this link: http://goo.gl/forms/RCOXiVolWHLd9P1B3 Steam update Wurm Unlimited will be updating with cave dwellings coming to beta on Monday at around 8am UTC-5, so plan accordingly! Shop update We will be performing some upgrades to our web store this coming Tuesday at 3am UTC, while we don't expect significant downtime we apologise for any inconvenience it causes. Community content We have two pieces this week, first off comes Evenings finds of amusing recruitment notices, wonder how many clothing optional villages we have The second is some fun with Rolf, a shot from his recent vacation has been slightly Wurmified, with a huge axe and helm. Perhaps he was simply researching combat? That's it for this week, we'll be checking out the new rifts opening on Sunday to ensure it all operates smoothly, until then, keep on wurming! Retrograde and the Wurm team.
  23. Fairyshine's Pink Palace (Party goats?) Hi Everyone! This week marks what will be most likely the final server update prior to the release of 1.3, (with the exception of a hotfix or two) as the dev team shifts focus on ensuring all features in 1.3 come out smoothly, so a few patch notes then on with the news! Herb gardens! Of course, cooking just isn't the same without all sorts of herbs and spices, and a long requested feature is the herb garden, so this week we'll be looking at those. The following is an excerpt by Pandalet, with information on spices (Thanks Pandalet for the hard work!) All herbs and spices may be found by foraging or botanizing. In addition, some may be planted in a pottery planter to create a harvest-able bush. Herb bushes planted in planters will die over time, although regular harvesting will make them last longer. Some potted herbs The following herbs are available: The following spices are available: As you can see, there's a lot more ingredients to play with, and brings a whole new area to gardening! All abuzz A few have been asking about domestic or wild hives, and commenting that they'd like to have domestic bees. This is possible, and will be a part of the 1.3 update, I'll sit down with Tich this week and get all the low down on the rumours buzzing around (okay okay I'll stop the puns). New Test Servers As previously mentioned, we'll be updating our test servers for this new system, so I'm pleased to announce the names of the test servers, Baphomet and Oracle! We're in the process of having them set up by our dev team, then will ensure everything runs smoothly before opening them to players for testing the cooking features and other parts of the 1.3 update! This weeks community content comes from a massive Wurm Unlimited project on KangaWU, with a network of bridges spanning a whopping 231 tiles, or 11% of the map! Why would anyone build such a massive bridge system? Unicorns of course! That's it for this week, I'll continue to work on bringing you all the sneak peeks and insight into what's coming with 1.3, and make sure you're as prepared with knowledge and excitement as possible! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  24. Winter cottage by Goldgretel Hi Everyone, A big week with Rolf announcing taking a step back, he'll still be a part of the team, kept in the loop with updates and occasionally helping out with some old mechanics, but for the most part will be focusing on non Wurm projects. I'm sure we're all sad to see him stepping down but be sure his input will still be a big part of Wurm updates to come. but now... Dev road-map! We also saw Buddas release of the developer road map, we're excited to be able to share with you what we have planned, and will go into further details as time goes on. Needless to say some of these projects will require some big changes in how the game currently functions, so we will be sure to work with you all on getting as much feedback as possible. Dev blog coming! The idea of a dev blog has also been a popular one, so we'll be looking at moving ahead with it! The dev blog won't be held to a strict schedule, and might take a bit to come out, but it'll focus on in depth detail on a specific mechanic or decision, from time to time giving insight into why certain choices were made, or how the mechanics behind things work. 1.3 update This weeks posts also saw another big bit of news, the cooking update! Wurm will be officially updating to version 1.3 with the new update, which is scheduled for around mid November! The exact date is still tentative, depending on bug testing, we'll be opening it up for you all to try out on our test server towards the end of October, so please jump on and try things when it's released. Community Question Community Content - Testing out With the new cooking update coming to the test server, we've decided the old bridges test map is a little outdated. And since Wurm unlimited, we've had all these exciting new maps come up, so I had a thought... The new test map will be a map that's been created for Wurm Unlimited! We've chosen the Orion map by Ausimus. Check out the map here: That's it for this week, with the update this week signifying the push into 1.3, in which a whole heap of changes will come (not just cooking!) We'll cover all of the changes the closer we get! Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  25. Hi Everyone As we find ourselves in the middle of a development cycle, with long term works being planned, hammered, beaten into submission and tested, it can often be seen as pretty quiet on the news front. While there are big things coming, sharing them now would be hard to provide any realistic date of release, so this weeks news is a little light on actual content coming but is here to keep you informed of what is going on in and out of the game, I do look forward to being able to share some of these plans though, they have me really excited! On that note, lets get to it. Patch notes: Kingdom roster! A feature teased a while back is the kingdom roster, allowing pmk's to easily check who is in their kingdom, their last login, which villagethey belong to and if they're the mayor. The system also allows the awardng of titles and expelling of online players. We're looking at additional functionality but this may take some time to implement. Expect to see this go live within the next week! Patch Notes You may have noticed this week there's been a few changes to the patch note format. This is because I have taken over the task, and will be the one writing them up. I hope to improve just how much information we put into these notes, as well as ensure that they are easy to understand and clear. So you wanna be a Wiki Editor? After a brief discussion today, it has been raised that some players aren't aware that they too can have an account for the wiki! Players may request editor accounts, which are able to update and modify wiki pages, or basic user accounts, which allow adding to the "player" "user" and "settlement" pages, allowing them to write their own history and that of their deed! Everyone can apply, PvE players and PvPers alike, all we ask is no history of bans and be in good standing with over 30 days playtime. To sign up simply fill in this form here: http://goo.gl/forms/wlBUr6UONF LFM changes This week sadly sees Solmark stepping down from the Lead Forum Moderator position. Solmark has been a very deciated LFM and on behalf of all staff we thank him for his time in the position. Luckily this does not mean he is leaving the team, he will still be a Community Assistant on Release. We will be looking at replacing him within the next week or so. Social media competition Our Steam key giveaway has picked up... steam this week as it nears the final close date. If you want the chance to win one of five keys for Wurm Unlimited, make sure to sign up before the 14th! Competition can be found here: http://wurmunlimited.hscampaigns.com/ Advertising and Wurm There's been a few threads around regarding advertising and plans for marketing Wurm. I can confirm that we are in the early stages of improving that, and while it will take time, and will require several steps in order to truely pick up pace, but rest assured, big things are coming! Weekly Question This weeks screenshot is from Rixk, and is a rather unique shaped bridge. I must admit bridges are one of my favourite things in wurm, despite only building four, I absolutely love seeing what everyone does with them! That's it for this week, expect to see me pop in and out of the game to chat with you all, and if anyone would like to have a chat on mumble or teamspeak, feel free to let me know! Until then, Keep on grinding! Retrograde and the Wurm team.
