  1. I had sent my main a cod for some money to set up a deed but ended up not needing it and refused it. I guess since the alt that sent the cod had never been on the server it was refused from that it had no way to make it back to him and eventually come back to my main again. I am not sure why that is and this was just a junk item but what if it had been a rare item that someone had sent but the buyer refused? I had sent the bowl cod for 10s and as you can see in the ss there is nothing about the 10s or even a 20c cross server fee but a 10c one. So to me this tells me that it has to be blocking it from going back to the sender and my guess as to why is because he has never been on the server it was refused. A little rant while i am here.. I am not sure why the mail system is so complected there should never be a reason that any item is lost in the mail or not returned when refused. Also i don't see why it only goes to the server you are on when the item is sent. Why can't i get sent an item on Xanadu while traveling and pick it up on Deliverance when i get there at the end of my trip? The way it is now i have to either go back to Xanadu, wait or just miss out on the item. Okay rant off and i hope that all made sense but the TLDR on the deal is that the mail needs some work, lol
  2. Well i had posted in someones suggestion thread about allowing shipping of crates through the mail and thought it merited some discussion as to what people thought about this. (This is not a suggestion but a discussion thread on if it would be feasible and how it would effect the game) Here i the idea so far... Allow mailboxes to ship crates. This can be done by moving your cart/wagon close to a mailbox then drag the crate from the open cart window to the mailbox window. When you drag and drop the crate into the mail window it starts the load timer and moves the crate over into the mailbox. (send them the normal way like all the other mail) When the person gets his/her crate in the mail they can see what is in them now so they know it is all there when collecting and once collected can either drag and drop to his/her cart or just unload them to the ground from the mailbox. All this needs is the ability to drag and drop crates with a load timer and permissions set to allow them to be mailed. (we already need the drag and drop for boat to cart/wagon transfers anyway. Points that have been brought up so far is pricing to mail the crate and the time it takes to arrive. The thought was to charge a flat fee per crate the suggestion so far was 50c and they wanted to have a days wait but i think that the added cost whatever they might be would be an incentive enough to use a shipper over the mail at least on large orders... What do you all think about the idea? Love it.. hate it.. what price should be charged..etc
  3. The new mail window is hard to read on the top bar section... Well i guess it is new since i am just now noticing it but it makes it hard to tell what is retrieve and return for sure.
  4. I've been toying with the idea of using writs to make bulk sales safer for both parties and here is my suggestions. Give writs a makers mark and unique number much like the guard towers have so they can still be renamed but on examine of the writ or the actual walls you get a message saying makers name and this unique number. This would allow you to give a writ to players to fill with goods Make writs tranferrable to merchants and perhaps even mailable. Make writs able to be priced on merchants. The reason for the writ makers mark and number is quite simple say you wish to have bulk mats delivered you build a little shed to have the goods delivered to on your perimeter you mail the writ to the player delivering the goods or if your going to be online simply transfer it through the trading window, the seller fills the writ with the goods and allows kingdom to enter so you can see the goods are actually within the building but cant take (due to writ permissions) then you trade the writ back for the amount agreed on and the both parties are protected from being scammed. Now atm without the makers mark this wont work as theres nothing stopping a sneeky player creating a writ of their own and renaming it the same as the one you give them and you end up with nothing, but a makers mark and unique number on examine would prevent this. If the writs are transferable to merchants then horse seller could use them (now that grass is plantable in writs) to sell their horses, ship builders could make a transporter with a ship/boat etc with 1 piece left to allow offline sales (adding the last piece makes you owner) and making them mailable would allow for players to return the writs to the maker. And bulk sales could be done and the buyer would be able to be sure the goods are there before purchasing from merchants and players and be able to collect the goods at their convenience. Lastly placing these sheds on perimeter would safe guard buyers from mayors bashing the walls to access them before they can.
  5. Pre-empting an influx of other want-to-mail items, I've left the subject open ended. Please allow range poles to be mailed. /Marni
  6. Right now the only way to tell in your inventory, in the mail or on a merchant that a gnome is the new one or the old one is by the ql of the new ones. I am suggesting that they get separate labels so we can tell them apart at a glance so we don't buy the wrong one. Edit: Well i guess they do have different examine lines but i think a label difference would be helpful too.
  7. [09:20:05] The entities inside refuse to help you. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I had it happen to me for the second time, but the nice GM helped me very quickly and reported it would only happen to old mailboxes and the code was fixed so all new boxes would be fine. Seems that isn't the case. I just made a new mailbox about a week ago and it is now broken. I have a ticket ingame for the fix, but thought it should be posted here as well. PS. They came and fixed this one in less than 5 min We have best game GMs ever!
  8. New Mail

  9. Make trade easier, not harder. People buy coins from YOU, which they use to buy cool stuff from other players. When it becomes too hard or take way too long to get those cool things, They don't really need to buy coins from YOU anymore. Oh, lets not forget the mailing fee. Don't you want MORE mailing to happen so you get MORE coins? I promise if you fix the mail system to become more useful, you will make significantly more coins, to spend in real life, terraforming your own empire.
  10. Well besides all the regular ones so we can send more items i would like to suggest a sent/recieved section on the display window that way you can see who has not picked up their items. If there is an uncollected mail it would show in the window so you can contact the right person to remind them of the item they have waiting. Also why can we not get an item back if it is returned on a cross server mail? I think that one needs fixed too.
  11. Any news on when the bug with mail will be fixed? I am waiting lots of items I need urgently. Any feedback on this will be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. I get this when checking my mail. Relogged still getting this error. I'm expecting mail and I'm getting [18:29:36] You sense imps speaking your name and saying you have 1 mail waiting to be picked up.
  13. The Grand Compromise (Or A Treatise on Mailboxes) Fresh Start or Everyone Invited? The main reason (as i see it) for people wanting a fresh start server is a more equal distribution of sales revenue from crafted items. The idea is that a more inclusive economy (lots of sellers at different skills) will capture the interest of more new players, thus increasing the new player retention rate. The current mailing system (particularly on a large server) creates a winner take all system, in which the best crafter(s) will get the lions share of the sales. Take away the mailboxes, and the transport costs take away the uber crafters comparative advantage. The effects will be greater the larger the server. This would make a sort of 'Grand Compromise", allowing old accounts on the server, while giving new accounts more market share in the selling of crafted items. Mail or No Mail? Admittedly, mailboxes are a great convenience we all love and rely on. The question is, does the benefit of a more inclusive economy outweigh the costs of cheap item transfers over long distances? For servers the size of Indy and smaller, i would say the costs of no mail outweigh the benefits. For a much larger server, I could say the benefits outweighing the hassle of no mail boxes. Restrictions on Mail Furthermore, it does not need to a be choice between mail or no mail. Restrictions to the mail system could accomplish the goal of a more inclusive economy. For starters, the mail price of 10-20 copper might be too small for a server the size of Xanadu. A higher mailing fee would encourage more local trading, and could be adjusted often to meet the goals/desires of the DEVS. A second approach would be to tie the mailing cost to the distance between mailboxes. A Third approach would be to limit the range a mailbox covers, say 2k -4k tiles, or perhaps make that range depend on the strength of the enchant of the mailbox. Practical Matters Rolf is very adamant about not splitting up code between servers, so whatever will be good for Xanadu will need to be implemented on the existing servers. So the complete removal of the mail system sounds like a political dead end. Limiting the range a mailbox can cover could be feasible. If the limit was 4k tiles, existing servers would see no effect, although I personally feel that range would be too large for a very inclusive economy on Xanadu, but limiting that range by cast strength (that decays with use) would alleviate some of that. The idea of mail cost being a function of distance is a bit more practical. An example would be 10c to mail the first 3k tiles and the price would double (10c, 20, 40, 80, 160...) for each additional 1k tiles. The easiest idea to implement from the devs point of view (uneducated guess) would be a flat increase in mailing cost. This would not require any additional computations, and could seemingly be adjusted often until the desired effect was reached. The major downside is the uproar from the existing servers would be rather severe.

  16. unknown sender

I am not sure but i think it is caused when someone has their cross server chat turned off. I got a COD today and the name was listed as "unknown sender". Not sure if this was intended or not but thought i would let you know. It seems to me that we should be able to see the name of the sender no matter what their chat settings are.

  18. Edit: I guess it has been said by Rolf this is indeed a new reward system i guess we will learn more later. I got this email from one of my accounts the funny part is that it is one of my obscure alts that i don't use that often. I am sure it is fake/scam but if not then we have not been told anything about this new award system. The letter has a bunch of links at the bottom that i have not posted but here is the bulk of it below. If it is from the wurm team can you guys tell us more about this new reward system? If it is indeed fake then let us know that too but for anyone else that might get this i wanted to post it and get it figured out if it is ligit os a scam email.
  19. as the title says i'm buying 10s
  20. I've recently been asked to send an item to some one on a different server C.O.D. Which, I did. The receiver has since then ignored any contact via PM on the forums and has not accepted the item. I submitted a support ticket to find out the options that I have. There are none. If the item is not accepted it will get destroyed. To clarify some mail system mechanics. Same Server - Non-acceptance - Item will be returned to the sender after two weeks. The sender must pay the shipping fee to get the item back. Cross Server - Non-acceptance - Item is destroyed. The mechanic for same server returning of the item is acceptable. You send an item, they don't want it for what ever reason, it gets returned to you, you need to pay for shipping it. However, for cross server, the item being destroyed is not acceptable. The example I used. Rolf sends me a Wurm T-Shirt outside of Sweden. When the delivery person comes I am not at home and I never go to the post office to pick it up. Instead of the post office returning the shirt to Rolf, they throw it away. Rolf loses the value of the shirt. The main issue I have with this is, that the contact I have had with Wurm staff have all said this is okay and works like it is supposed to. Well, this means that I can create an alt, run through the tutorial, go to which ever server I want, then start having people from WTS and Merchant Ad threads start sending me items C.O.D and never accept them just to make them lose time and items. In the dialog box of the mailing system, it says "Use mailboxes with caution and inexpensive items until you rely on the spirits. They are still learning and take no responsibility for lost items." Which is fine, if the item was lost due to some kind of server mishap, but it's not. The item is going to be lost because a player requested the item, it is sitting in their mailbox, but refuse to accept it. The same dialog box says, "Note that sending C.O.D with an intent to scam other players is a bannable offense." There is no mention about requesting C.O.D. and not accepting with intent to scam sender being bannable. So, there is no seller protection. I suggest stop using the C.O.D. system for cross server sending until the Dev Team decides that this should be fixed and have a proper return feature.

  24. I know have there been numerous threads about this but as they are dead i'd rather make a new thread. So basically as the topic states make all items, or atleast all available tools and weapons mailable, its incredibly stupid that a large maul does fit in a mail box but a two handed sword doesn't. To summarise, the mail system is in 1 word: silly. This NEEDS changed, I would understand 20c cost for larger items and 10c for smaller items... just make it mailable... Greets Libertha
