Climbing multiple ladders (=floor openings) in succession can cause one to fall to the ground floor, occasionally breaking a bone or two. Reproducing the bug is very simple; take a tower consisting of floor openings and start climbing the ladders up. Moving (WASD) is not required. I have seemed it easy to reproduce by means of the default action (F) though it would surprise me if it does not occur with the traditional right click -> climb up, or by a manual keybind to another key. The procedure requires quite accurate timing, though with enough practice you will be able to suicide an alt in under a minute, see the video below: https://i.imgur.com/gg1qdin.mp4 Interestingly the corpse spawns on the third floor: Note: Damage does not occur on every tile for some reason, but is common enough to be slightly aggravating.

This post is just to share something I recently found out, and which caused frustration before I knew (credit to Evening (CA Channel) for this advice): When you want to move stuff like forges, beds, ovens, crates and so on to upper floors from a bottom floor, Build a ladder. Not a staircase. Not a hole in the floor. ONLY A LADDER WILL WORK. Load your stuff into a wagon and park it directly under the ladder. Go up the ladder, and then embark the wagon from the floor you want your stuff to go to. The whole wagon, animals and all, will move to upper floor where you embarked from (through the ladder). Now ride your wagon around upstairs, and unload your stuff where you want it. When ready to go downstairs again, park the wagon directly over the ladder. Unhitch your animals. Go down the ladder, haul the unhitched wagon downstairs with a rope. Go upstairs again, hitch the animals to your wagon (which is now downstairs) through the hole of the ladder. The animals will appear hitched to the wagon on the bottom floor. This method is great for moving whole wagons full of stuff upstairs, and getting empty wagon down again. On a different note, and in case someone missed this gem: There was a recent change which allows loading full wagons, carts, bsbs and fsbs. You can also drag full drafts and chests between wagons or carts. Great news

My latest crazy idea is based on firepillar (type firepillar into console below ground to see where that tile is when you go above ground, it looks like lava but it not). Fire pillar shows that the game can link the 2 tiles. With all the great new below ground building options I'm sure lots of people have expanded their deeds underground. My idea is a ladder you can build below ground on a flat paved tile, then build a corresponding ladder on the tile above ground. A little bit of teleporting magic and you have a new entrance type! Simple, I think, it would be useful for me. Ideally it would support high ceilings too, maybe even some ceiling graphics if possible.

The ladders are quite far from the wall. Aesthetically they should be much closer the tile border the tile would be much more usable and would be easier to hide behind furniture. Alternatively we could build a foldable version.
