  5. Recruitment is currently closed due to me personally not having all that much time for the deed (RL is to blame,) although if you're interested in having somewhere on the West Coast to hermit up then I'd still be happy to help. Join us on IRC with #Captains (I'm on IRC all the time but am often afk. Feel free to leave a message as I'll see it.) I'm opening recruitment for my deed, A Captain's Hideaway. I remember the days when I first started playing Wurm and some of the earlier villages I was at - we had a great time socially. However, since going solo on my own deed, I've been lonely! Seeing as a lot of the deed's ground work has now been done (50%-ish) I feel it's the right time to start to build up another great village. The deed is placed on the west coast in a calm part of the server (8x 34y.) Local resources include lots of on-deed iron in an ever-expanding mine, clay a short hop across the bay, and the vast forests of Deliverance on the deed's doorstep. The deed is currently 31x31 in size but is in no way land-locked and could easily expand a lot more as more players join the deed. The deed also has a "fleet" of horses at your disposal for carts and trips, an expanding herd of cows for omnoms, and a village sailboat you're welcome to use for whatever trip you may need to take. And did I mention upto 70ql meals cooked for you too? In terms of villagers, I am very open in what I look for. I'd rather have players with at least a few months under their belt around the deed - it simply isn't cut out to support swathes of relatively new players and I'd rather that newbies went somewhere more specialist - however, for more experienced players whether you've got years under your belt or are just starting to get a good feel for the game, then Captain's is undeniably the right place for you. I know what it's like to live under a repressive, restrictive, inactive mayor - it sucks - as such, I'll do my best to be the exact opposite of those adjectives, so you can get on with enjoying the game you enjoy in an environment where someone else is doing their best to make the game as great for you as possible! I don't mind what skills you have or want to train. If turning over a load of empty space into farmland to toil away at floats your boat, then sir, float your boat you may! I could list every other possibility in Wurm and how I'll let you do it within reason, but then I'd be here all day... in terms of timezones, I'm GMT and can usually play at least a few hours a day, usually enough to catch most other timezones including US ones online at some point. More about myself (funfunfun!) - I'm mainly a carpenter/terraformer/mason/fighting kinda Wurmian, but also have a 70+ faith mag priest and an (almost) 60+ faith vyn priest. Enchanted grass is available on the house, as well as some enchants. In general, I like to have a balanced set of skills - as such, so does/will the deed - everything can be accommodated. I've played Wurm for a year and a half and don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon, so joining the deed is "safe" so to speak! More experienced players generally prefer to do their own thing - here, you can! In terms of housing, as above, I aim to be accommodating. There is no real minimum or maximum as to how much space you can have for housing and projects, it simply has to work with the land that's available. I'm happy to expand the deed if necessary too - there is plenty of space to, I simply haven't bothered due to me being the only player at the deed for a while. Only village rule: be mature. That means don't aggro your peers or go 110% HotS just because someone left something shiny on the floor that you might like for yourself! Any villager is welcome to help as much or as little as they want to on village projects. Uniquely, you're also more than welcome to contribute ideas and changes too - my mind can only stretch so far, I'd love to get some input from others about things to tweak and add to make the deed better. And lastly, a word about the deed's status. It is almost fully terraformed and there are many projects under way. These include: - A 150 tile boat cave ("sailboat garage") - Ongoing construction work to build a range of main buildings - Ongoing work to make the deed prettier, with trees, decorations etc. So, if you're interested in the village, feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want to know more about joining. I also lie when I say that I'm the only person at the deed - I did have 2 villagers, but due to RL issues they haven't been around much. Kinda related - if you're coming back to Wurm after a break and want somewhere to give the game another go then I'm happy to take the risk and let you try it out again here. To finish, some pics: Looking at the deed from the south - much of the mountain to the right of this pic is also part of it. Everything else in the near shot is the deed too. The main square One half of the village workshop Main pier and much of the deed's open space Thanks for looking through the thread!
  6. Starting bid: 30s Reserve: none Buyout: none Min inc: 1s Pickup from northern Deli (5y20x), containers provided. Happy bidding
  7. I'd like to train dogs to help me track when I go pheasant hunting! On the subject of animal training, circus bears would be cool too! Just kidding about the bears... but seriously. Falconry would be nice too. I thought I saw mention of this somewhere in suggestions but couldn't find it.
  8. At freedom, traps are actually useless, yet there are most of the playerbase. I know it was mentioned before but allow us to use traps on mobs. At least some of them. As this skill, is unused, using traps, would increase game depth due to adding alternate way to survive in hostile enviroment. Now it looks like this... foraging in the woods -->attacked by anything than wild cat --> race towards house or guarded deed -->end Chances of survival depends only on a speed not the tactics sadly.
  9. Super exciting sitting at sermons praying the day away right? Why not park the alt and go take the boring out of faith gains and put the fun into killing a ton of critters.. Sermon Location: Possibly Oak Harbour Date: Not yet set will most likely be set during the week such as Tues-Thurs (gives plenty of time for priest rotation and some decent fs gain) Hunting Location: Eastern Plains Have a deed nearby that can provide over night "horse parking" if needed. If poll turnout is good enough i will arrange such an event ,after permissions and dates have been okayed
  10. I've been grinding many of my carpentry skills and with fletching being one of my better subskills. Recently I saw someone in server chat looking to buy arrows from someone so I figured I'd post and see if I had any takers. I can craft arrows for you, they wouldn't be super high quality arrows, but I can do them in bulk and load up quivers for you. If you'd like to make an order, let me know on here how many you'd like, around what quality you'd be expecting, and your in-game name and I'll let you know if I can fulfill the request. I am on Independence, in the northern Crystal Lake area, and willing to negotiate on prices!
  11. Maybe there is room for multiple wide-ranged play styles on the same server in Wurm without having to occupy the same space. For instance...what if on each of the Freedom PVE servers a lost island was discovered. Not just a little island but a massive island, maybe as large as a quarter of the server itself...and this single island was a wild untamed place...so wild that deeding was impossible...so hostile that fences and houses that were attempted to be built by players, were overrun and destroyed within days by huge behemoths that rampage across the land. The existence of these mist shrouded islands are whispered around the camp fires...maybe myth, maybe legend… but maybe real for those hearty warriors that throw caution to the wind and seek to challenge fate and risk their very lives in search of glory against creatures that truly challenge the mid and high-range warriors of the lands. If you choose to sail to these places of despair and mortal danger...do so knowing that you may not return alive, or if you are skilled, strong and maybe a bit lucky, you will return and become part of the legend that is Wurm.... Just a thought...
  12. many people are annoyed at lack/low number of wild animals on servers due to animals being bread. please use the new “bred in captivity†trait as a 3rd creature count limit. aka: aggressive creature count, none-aggressive creature count and bred creature count. this will allow the creatures bred in captivity to not effect the normal aggressive and none aggressive creature count, thus letting you bred but not effect the hunting.
  13. Here is an idea I'd been thinking about, We all know the wurm-like attitude of "deed it or loose it". And considering the latest info (for me) about perimeters being able to take on and destroy in time legal enclosures lead me to this idea. If the place where you already live (with a deed) has too many other deeds around and everyone else around has farm animals, the aggressive spawn rates drop to almost zero in the region. Thus, I would create a large legal enclosure, fill it with steppe (that supposedly forces more spawns) and wait for animals to spawn then go and kill them. The problem is, like I said before anyone could just perim over this and destroy it in time, and in this specific case the "deed it or loose it" saying is just nonsense, because on a deed there are no spawns and even on perimeters, spawns are very limited (could be actually zero, not sure) - so it voids the initial purpose of the enclosure. In clear, i am proposing a second "deed-like type" where you pay a low upkeep (half of the cost of a perimeter tile - because you still need quite a bit of land for things to spawn in your "deed"), have no decay protection, and increased spawn rate for aggressives on it. Basically creating a "perimeter-like" hunting deed that you can own at the same with a normal deed (so you dont need an alt for that). My arguments in favor of this: for an established player, you cannot do anything to prevent people settling in around you - unless you deed also around but that voids the purpose - because of less or no spawns on deeds/perimeters even if you just do an enclosure, some idiot can come along and perim over it as there are no rules to prevent that wurm gets more income because you will have a little bit more upkeep to pay extra to your deed wurm always gets more crowded every day so less and less spawns Characteristics: buyable from a trader for like 5s upkeep: half the cost of a perim tile (normal players will not want to buy this to save on upkeep because of the increased spawns that can be also inside their house if they decide to build there) one hunting deed can be owned by the same character that already owns a normal deed increased spawn rate for aggressives (can be anything actually, not only agressives) depending on the tile surface (if its forest +50% spiders, if its sand +50% crocs + scorpions, etc.) no decay protection - or a 1-2 tile decay protection border for where you build your fences no possibility of a normal deed to be placed there (or perim of one) Please comment Thorakkanath
  14. As the title says, often arrows will simply disappear after hitting and damaging the target. It does this with no relation to the quality of the arrow: 50QL arrows will disappear as often as 70QL will. This bug has been around for a long time.
  15. Just a dumb idea from the head of a madman.... Introduction of a new server with pvp enabled which will be entirely natural as a giant hunting reserve.... Basically you can sail onto it and bring your gear with you and craft general basic survival items (make healing items from botanized items only, campfires for cooking etc...) You cannot build structures, place deeds or terraform... As per the PVP suggestions... PVP without kingdoms (basically everything is a giant free for all...) although allowing the teaming up of players (so they dont kille ach other in combat... good one for groups of lower skill players to gang together and have some fun hunting), No looting player corpses for personal gains.. It would be nice to have a server where newer players could experience the world of *PROPER* hunting i.e. knowing that your neighbour has not completely farmed out an area, and also allowing them to PVP without having to fear the trauma of losing equipment which enables them to be there.
  16. I would still like taxadermy and a skill with it also a way to customize your trophys also more animals to hunt like foxes, coyotes, grizzaly bear, more deer, birds and birds of pray, welvereans, cougers they look like mountain lions but a bit bigger, more bison, gray wolves, brown wolves, racoons, and elk new butched products bones, ivy from boars, and antlers new items that can be made with skins pelts and furs rugs more traps that can be used in hunting on all servers
