  1. I've had this problem since I first played wurm and my computer savvy friends told me to try a few things, none of which worked, and then assumed it could not be fixed. It recently occurred to me to search the technical forum, and when I found nothing, to post in it. At night in Wurm I cannot see anything. Unless there are light sources around, everything is completely black. I can't sail anywhere at night for this reason, and get lost on land easily too I have Windows 7, this happens on stable or unstable, and an ATI graphics card with catalyst control center installed. I tried messing with settings on the control center in the past I believe, but nothing made a difference either way.
  2. I get this Error log everytime i try to update my client and it gives me the error "Update failed! 3. Are there any plans to redo cherry tree graphics? They like kinda ugly ingame, but they're one of the most beautiful in real life.
  4. The Client Update that took place after normal scheduled DT on 12/19. introduced graphics and Client UI problems that I had not seen before today, My Client now "Halts and Starts" in behavior as if it is a webcam taking pics on very slow speed and low bandwidth. When I attempt to move many times it will "lock up" my screen and I have to sit and wait 5 seconds or so before I can attempt to move again. Playing the game has now become very problematic. OS: Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit 6.1 build 7601 AMD Phenom IIX4 960T Processor (4cpu) ~3.0 Ghz 8192 MB ram NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT OpenGL 3.1 4gb total memory Java 6 Update 31 (build 1.6.0_31-b05) let me know if additional specs are needed.
  5. It looks like the old floors in our previously built houses are now ground tiles, which is okay, except that the graphics look blurry on them. So the wooden plank floors in our houses look fuzzy, while the new plank floors look crisp and high-def. So even though there is a graphic of wooden floors on the main floor of the house, it's crappy looking, and therefore I have to build a new ground floor to make the floor styles match. Is there anyway that the graphics of old floors (that are now ground tiles) be sharpened up? That way I don't have to build a floor again. Thanks.
  6. After having talked to people in game and reading over the forums it seems like winter is one of the more unpopular seasons in game. I believe there are some graphical changes that could be made to greatly improve the appearance and popularity of winter. Mu suggestions address what I believe to be at the heart of the issue, everything in winter looks the same, it's all snow, and relatively plain snow at that. While I believe this to be a fairly realistic portrayal, it is nonetheless monotonous and somewhat boring. Here are some things I have thought of that may reduce the monotony: Add some shading to the snow texture to imply unevenness such as that caused by wind or wet snow. Here is a link to a gallery of images of snow in other games of a variety of graphical styles and resolutions that may provide some inspiration. Have some terrain tiles look like something other than snow or muddy snow. I believe ice or ice with snow on it would be a very nice addition. I think rock tiles could work as ice, as could marsh and if possible reed and other primarily aquatic tiles. Here is a nice closeup image I found of the texture of ice that may provide insight into what I am thinking about: While the winter tress are, on the whole, very aesthetically pleasing, the smaller plants I have seen (most especially flowers but also grape vines) are rather unattractive. While there is a certain realism to this, I believe to improve the overall look of the season, some artistic license should be taken. I think the most attractive winter versions of these plants would be if they had just been covered in ice from a freezing rain storm, or perhaps if mid-season melt had cause some ice crystals to form on them or maybe even a version very similar to the original, but just covered in a light frost. Here are some examples: Obviously implementing some of these suggestions would take a fair amount of artist time/resources, but I think it would significantly improve the season that gets the least love and would help them all be more equally beautiful. If anyone else has any suggestions or comments they would be very welcome .
  7. Pumpkins

Ok, so when the new pumpkin crops were added, i couldn't see them, only the actual terrain texture (almost like it was only seeds, but without the tiny models), i assumed it was a bad download... I tried doing the pack verification, didn't work, then i re-downloaded the graphics packs, didn't work. So next step was messing up with the graphics settings. Turns out that a while ago, the client lost my "normal" settings that i use for main window, so i copied my "low" settings i used on alt and did some changes. I forgot to change a few. I changed those, and suddenly i was seeing the pumpkins. So i went back, started changing one on one to see which one was messing it. So apparently setting Terrain Resolution to low is making pumpkins disappear. I might be wrong but shouldn't that at least be tied to tile decorations? So for those having issues, change terrain resolution one step higher and it will show. For the devs, i'm pretty sure this shouldn't happen... So now you know whats happening, and hopefully should be fixable.
