  1. This is something for FREEDOM ONLY (in case you missed the tags). It is NOT, in any way, aimed at servers where PvP takes place. As a note it IS possible for pvp and non-pvp servers to have different spell lists for the same priests (see disintegrate). Before you read any further this is a teleportation suggestion, yes it is only for priests. Why? We're the magical folk and meditation and karma both already allow a form of teleportation (thus mooting the "no teleportation in wurm" argument). It's aimed at high level and high channeling priests, priests who are more likely to be mains rather than pets. In all cases spell failure results in the loss of the full favor cost (90). So without further ado : Path of the forest (fo) Faith : 90 Favor : 90 Difficulty : 75 (Has the hardest difficulty because its condition is the easiest to meet) Effect : If cast successfully a text box comes up, the player is prompted to type in the name of a player or deed. If a player is selected the player receives the message "You feel <caster> trying to reach out to you, do you want to let them know where you are?", if the player selects yes then, if there is an overaged tree within a domain of fo within 5 tiles that is NOT on a deed, the priest is teleported to that tree, if they select no the spell fails. If a deed is selected, and the priest is a member of that village, or in an alliance with that village (Permission to allow teleports must be set to true in role), the priest teleports to an overaged tree in a fo domain on that deed. If no tree in a fo domain domain is found the spell fails. Path of the waves (vyn) Faith : 90 Favor : 90 Difficulty : 65 (Has the lowest difficulty because it has the most restrictive condition) If cast successfully a text box comes up, the player is prompted to type in the name of a player or deed. If a player is selected the player recieves the message "You feel <caster> trying to reach out to you, do you want to let them know where you are?", if the player selects yes then, if there is a water source in the domain of vynora within 10 tiles that is NOT on a deed, the priest is teleported to that water source, if they select no the spell fails. If a deed is selected, and the priest is a member of that village, or in an alliance with that village (Permission to allow teleports must be set to true in role), the priest teleports to a water source in a vynora domain on that deed. If no water source in a vyn domain is found the spell fails. Path of the earth (mag) Faith : 90 Favor : 90 Difficulty : 70 (Has a middling difficulty because it is harder to make rock tiles than it is to plant trees, but easier to make them than to create water sources) If cast successfully a text box comes up, the player is prompted to type in the name of a player or deed. If a player is selected the player receives the message "You feel <caster> trying to reach out to you, do you want to let them know where you are?", if the player selects yes then, if there is a rock tile (both above and underground) within a of magranon domain within 10 tiles that is NOT on a deed, the priest is teleported to that rock tile, if they select no the spell fails. If a deed is selected, and the priest is a member of that village, or in an alliance with that village (Permission to allow teleports must be set to true in role), the priest teleports to the nearest rock tile to that altar. If no rock tile is found the spell fails Note for other gods : Just change the domain to be that of the requisite god.
  2. Life as a priest, it's a risk you take. Thing is, it just means I run 2 clients instead of one and bring nothing extra to the game (since the alt is ALWAYS a free alt) but a bit more lag. What I propose is priests are able to perform some extra activities but their skill is effectively capped at 20 (same as their free alt). This includes, but is not limited to, woodcutting (no cap for vyn), mining (no cap for mag), digging (no cap for fo), packing, paving, construction (nothing requiring a skill over 20), improving items (all imp checks use a capped skill level of 20). Why? Simply because everyone gets around the priest limitations it by using a free alt and this is just going to make life easier and give priests nothing new except a little less rage and more time for people. It will reduce lag on the servers and, more importantly, might be that little extra push some people need to prem up so they can priest up. "Oh but what about pvp?" Well funnily enough all non-mag PvP priests get a spell that non-mag PvE priests do not get. How about we make this a freedom only feature? "Oh but you get magic" Yep and we also get capped skills. Seems fairer than complete "YOU SHALL NOT SOLO UNLESS YOU RUN AN ALT AND BRING LAG TO THE SERVER". "But... Status Quo..." I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the massive sound of change going on in wurm Edit for Clarity : The cap only applies to skills priests cannot currently use at the moment. This means improving items, continuing structures etc. So a priest with masonary 50 will still have the same masonary 50 craft rate for stone bricks, but will only imp objects as a 20 skilled character, nor will they be able to plan and continue stone walls. The 20 cap is lifted if faithful is turned off. (But an increase in the faith hit to balance this out)
  3. Currently we have a writ system in place for player owned structures. An option to set one of these as "home" forms the core of the idea. A structure set as a home does the following :- 1. Allows respawning "at home" to allow newer players to branch out into the wilderness more easily. 2. Generates a "protected" (see below) area of 2 tiles around the structure (so it will grow as the player does over time but is capped for free players by their carpentry skill) The "protected" area is essentially a place where other players cannot bash, but can do anything else (as in it will protect walls built in that area). The protection only lasts if the player has logged in during the last week. Any "guests" of the house will have full rights to bash. Overlapping properties : The oldest property has priority on bashing rights. Home area overlapping with perimeter : Oldest (perimeter or home area) has priority. Home can only be set once per real time week to prevent abuse (maybe allow unlimited setting in the first 24 hours?). If the structure loses a wall (and is no longer a valid structure) the home status is removed. What does this do : It offers new players a protected enclosure, but in no way the level offered by deeds. It prevents large land grabs without using a LOT of alts (easily traceable), It also helps the new player population out by giving them somewhere to respawn safely instead of hiking across the map. An experienced player could landgrab using this but it would be a LOT harder to do so and require constant work to upkeep. It would also be a LOT more noticeable.
