  1. Please could we make pendulums give the type of fish, instead of saying there is a fishing spot nearby? We've already done it with lurker in the woods giving specific champions. It's beyond infuriating spending half an hour searching for a fishing spot, spending another half hour trying to park the stupid boat over it, only to find out it's the wrong one. I've been searching for 4 hours and I've found spots for an octopus, two tuna, two sailfish and a blue shark, but no marlin, which is what I'm searching for. A specific pendulum would make this considerably less nightmarish.
  2. Last night I had an odd idea and now I am trying to figure out if it is possible for me to do it. I started dredging out the bay in front of my town, I wanted it deep enough that Ocean going vessels would be fine to sail through it. Then I decided to see how deep I could dig with the dredge. After this I though of trying to see if I could make it an Ocean tile if I dug deep enough. So my questions are: How deep, in water, must I dredge for a water tile to become an ocean tile? Is it possible for a player to create an Ocean tile by digging and area deep enough with a Dredge? I guess this would apply to world building as well, At what depth does a tile has to be a certain depth in order for it to become an Ocean tile? If I can do this, I will definitely win the next fishing tournament on my server if I drop some Ocean fish on the table and no one else can do it
  3. So. There are special tiles on water where you can catch different sorts of fish. But there would be very different uses for it as well. Buoys, which are built with planks, tar, and a Mooring Anchor (Thick rope, lead anchor) Cheaper generally to build then a boat and mooring it, its only purpose is to be planted down where you want it, and you can give it whatever name you want, and dye it different colors. People could use them to mark dangerous spots (A place where the rock bottom is high, and deeper vessels might ground themselves, special fishing tiles, named buoys to give waypoints to people for finding harder to find places)... Basically, it would give an alternative to building a rowboat and mooring it in the middle of a body of water. It would look more elegant to rowboats, as you would see a small buoy floating about, ominously ... Some more advanced versions of them could also include lamps, so people can put floating lamps around their docking area. Of course, it has to be a lamp, not a torch, because you don't want to set fire to it. It could change the look on seas quite a bit, and I am sure people would find alternative uses of those!

  5. We discussed at the CA tab that a fish preserve system would be very nice to have.I mean something like a bin deticated at preserving fish like the FSB,or combining fish and salt to make it preserved.Would that be usefull and good idea?
  6. Sorry if this has been brought up. I searched for a topic like this posted within 1 month and found nothing. Fishing needs a bit more added to it. At one point when spawns were a bit lower, fishing was more useful. Now since the spawn increase, fishing seems a bit redundant. you can easily kill pigs, chickens, cows, bulls, etc. since they are not so rare(at least on PVE servers) anymore, cook the meat, store the meat indefinitely. What we need is the ability to cook a fish whole and throw it into an fsb like we can do with meat, and have it weigh .9 kg as well per unit. It can be classified as cooked fish so if one tames creatures that eat fish over meat, they can still have the option to do so. Another would be to catch something besides just fish. Anything from random ql logs that have a random weight of 1kg-24kg, leather boots of random ql, nails(large or small), planks(hull or regular), or even a small chance of rare/supreme items of various things(on drum rolls of course), etc.. I believe it would make fishing a tad more interesting in the game. I am aware some people fish to get meat to level their taming/cooking, but I am sure there is more that can be done. Anyone have any input or alternative views on this suggestion? Also sorry for any grammar or spelling errors that might be present.

  10. Fishing Options

    Wouldn't it be nice if some other setting approrpriate methods of fishing were available... A few different options come to mind, the most primitive of which is one that should be readily available especially for those who choose to go the crude-tool primitive route, Fish-traps. Fish Trap (recipe: Use Reed plant, with Reed plant, for incomplete fish trap, add 8 more reed plant to finish.), Use to set trap in tile that is completely under water, but no more than 20 dirts deep. As long as trap is set up (it decays as normal) allows a "check trap" action that uses the forage skill to possibly get a small shore fish on the same timer. Literally requires no tools at all to make, other than 'something sharp to cut reeds with'. Similar recipes could be added to make a more developed basketweaving skill and set of items, primarily containers, but wicker-style furniture etc. as well. And one I think people have wanted for awhile... at least ever since boats came into play... Nets. Nets would have the advantage of catching multiple fish at once, but taking heavy damage from use and need repaired often. Shore Net (recipe, Use Rope, with cordage rope, for incomplete Shore net, add 8 more rope to finish.) Can be used in the same manner as a fishing pole, but can catch up to 5 small shore fish at a time. Boat Net (recipe, Use Rope, with Mooring Rope, for incomplete Boat Net, add several more rope to finish) Can be used in the same manner as a fishing pole, but only while on a boat using the fishing action targetting the boat, can catch up to 5 medium fish at a time (no lurkers). I know it's a hefty request, and I'm not looking to 'break' fishing, just add in some new Options, that fit the setting and play styles if anyone is up for the idea.

  15. I had an idea while fishing and though its not complete or too in depth i thought it would be nice to make the suggestion. It would be nice if fishing was a little more complex. for example while fishing it would be neat to catch and release, though that serves no survival purpose besides getting a higher fishing skill i thought that another system could be implemented in order for it to be worth while. The other system was that there would be schools of fish and each school would contain X number of fish. over time each different fish would grow and become higher Ql or higher weight. and in combination with the catch and release system if you were to release a low Ql fish it could have the chance to recover and increase in ql and or weight. Also fish breeding or letting nature take its course could allow for a higher number of fish in the pool. And there is a third part to this fishing idea that wasn't mine but was really just something a village member thought would be nice. That would be that you could make a fish farm and be able to raise fish to eat or fish up. which i thought could become possible if you implemented the first 2 parts of the overall idea. suggestions or thoughts? I would love to see such a system implemented even if its in the distant future.
  16. TLDR: I want to be able to fillet fish while on my boat. I was rather surprised when I went out for the first time to fish on a boat and got the "You need to be on solid ground to do that." message. Given that you are limited to the weight of the fish that will fit in a small barrel I would like to be able to fillet on the boat so you don't have to keep sailing back to land. If I need 1k fillets for a cookathon I don't want to spend hours in the middle of deep water guessing at how many fillets I probably have before running to shore only to find out I'm 300 short or something.

  20. the rare chance graphics, drumroll, and the new scentence that tells of a rare chance doesn't happen when fishing. I have caught lots of rare fish and it doesn't happen when successful either. I hope this can be fixed

    A new item, possibly shaft + bladder + rope, maybe even add a pennant. Can be set on a water tile and will float on the surface and not move. Useful for when you don't want to hunt for a special fishing tile again.

Fish Drying Racks - Filet the fish and then place them inside of the drying rack and after x amount of time they become dried and can then be stored in an FSB. 2 types -small personalized rack and large, feed the village, sized racks. Fishing nets (Cast Nets) -cannot be used on boats but instead are used standing on the shore to catch multiple smaller fish. Fixed Gill Nets - Long net placed from point a to point b across a stretch of water that can catch multiple small to medium sized fish. Seine nets -used on large boats for large catch potential. Personal sized fish traps that can be set along the coastal areas to trap small to meduim sized fish, perhaps no more than 1 or 2 fish per trap. Add Whales and by default whaling - Add harpoon used by person in rowing boat to harpoon it. If the rowing boat is not sunk in the process (rowing boat can be drug around for x amount of time while harpoonist is struggling with the catch, QL of boat affects chance of sinking, boat takes dmg during the fight) then the whale tires after x amount of time and becomes stationary allowing corbita or better but not knarr to come alongside and attach the whale to the ship and cart it in to shore. All manner of variant on this could be put in as long as it takes 2 boats, large and small to do the whaling as seen below. Large potential for harvestable items such as bone, blubber, oil ect ect ect. Whale meat / blubber should also make very nutritional food. Add Salmon - because Salmon taste 1000000% better than catfish and carp . Should also provide large bonus to nutrition and should weigh in on the hefty scale for fish, providing quite a bit of protien. Add crab (they are in now just lacking the traps) and lobster -build traps that can be set near shore or set in deep water. Variants to size would allow all manner of boat types to be used.(Wood, iron and steel variants) And finally - set nutritonal values on each type of fish one can catch (visible not hidden value)
  23. Even if you're the pilot. Is it realistic? Go take a look at the dragons and get back to me on that. Would it be a big gamebreaking change? No. How would it work, fishing is tile based? To fish from a boat right click the boat with a rod and select fish, the tile used is simply the tile the boat occupies when the timer runs out. Why do we need this? Something to do while sailing, something productive and useful. Anything else? Casting while a pilot would be nice.

  25. Perhaps we can make a mini-game/action similar to fishing, but with bird hunting? I was rather caught up by the fact that we have passive birds flying around but don't have a way to hunt them. I understand they are ambiance, but why not give bow wielders something to do? Click on a floor tile with your bow activated, sub-menu Hunting>Birds, action timer of a reasonable length, consume a set amount of arrows per target, possible food. Not a priority, but would be interesting.
